Amazon do not allow (yet) calls or multiroom music play on non-echo speakers and the microphone on the echo dot is muuuch better. You can do much more just connecting an echo dot to any speaker

Sorry, that is a really pathetic criticism of the speakers, it says clearly on every advertisement that they don't work with calls.

Apart from that functionality is the same as echoes dotted around my house, only difference is the sound from the Sonos is incredible.

Also the microphones are no different to Echoes.

I'd rather pay more and avoid Verys absolutely shocking customer service tbh
How does this compare to play 1?
Thanks

I got one of these with the recent "knit your own 20% off code" scam (sadly no longer working) and the sound is absolutely brilliant. The mike is just as good (or bad) as the ones on my various Alexa devices. There are a few minor quibbles such as the inability to change the wake word and turn off the chime sound when it receives a voice command but these are not reasons to avoid buying it IMHO! I'll now be flogging my Echo Show which tirned out to be a real white elephant and a total waste of a screen as you couldn't actually get it to display anything useful.

I read that the Sonos One will be getting Google Assistant although there is no ETA.

Pretty much the same thing except you don't have Alexa built in is all. I have an Echo and a couple of Play 1s, Play 5 and sub.

I couldn't wait for the Alexa integration, but to be honest since it arrived I've hardly used it. I still find I prefer using the Sonos app.

The Sonos setup with the sub sounds amazing though.

If you have neither then you may as well go for the Ones, but if you already have an Echo, it's reslly not going to matter.

One last point, if I'm up early on a morning, or late at night, the bass on the Sonos is a bit much really, as the wife can hear it, but the Echo has a really nice sound to me, so I will still use that when I need to be a bit quieter.

Fair enough, I have never had any issues, even returning stuff is easy with collect+
Waste of money bought 3 with promise from Sonos they will setup multi-room play which is still not working and unable to use. The Alexa built in is NOT proper alexa what means you CAN NOT USE ANY skills from alexa app under section skills. I have it confirmed with sonos and amazon they will not work on Sonos GREAT. Only benefit it is voice control for music and set heating up and control lights. For that much money with no improvement WASTE OF MONEY. Better option is Sonos 1 with Echo dot Much better. Sonos play is just JOKE. Sonos will promise lots of things but read forums before you buy how they getting on with promises. I hoped that company like Sonos will improve the system but actually NOT. Sorry for me cold.

I've had nightmare after nightmare with them, so.completely given up. They despatched orders I made for some echo shows after I cancelled them, then it took a month and PayPal to get sorted.

Yup Sonos app amazing, years of refinement has made it very user friendly.

I.do like having Alexa option though, but use far less than echo because Sonos app so good
Anyone know if John Lewis would price match??

Fake account?
The Sonos app has a night mode button which cuts out the bass at night for quieter viewing tv.
Thank you gods of hot UK deals for making me spend 300 quid on a Monday morning
Is this wireless only?

I'm tempted but I don't think I can do without Bluetooth and 3.5mm input.

I know, but the whole point of me Sonos is the bass I just don't want to play with the settings each time, but I do find the Echo a very pleasent sound at the lower volumes.

No, you need an adapter for that. It will play only from online stream or mp3 shared on your computer.

There are multiple threads on the Sonos community pages complaining of poor microphone sensitivity compared to Amazon devices.

Yes. 2 for £350, minus 20%, so £280. The older models come in at £240 for a pair. It only helps people who have a very account. My voucher expired yesterday.

No problem with multi-room play for me. And I have 6 or 7 skills working on my sonos ones no problem, all the skills from the Alexa app work from what I have tried. You have to link the sonos app to the Alexa app.

Really you must be the only one who can play group music (multi-room) throughout voice on Sonos One as I have it confirmed from Sonos and Amazon that it is does not work: group (multi-room) play on Sonos one. Yes you can play group through sonos app but 100% not on voice command. Skills as well does not support Sonos ONE and confirmed with Sonos and Amazon I do not know how you have managed to get it work when I have linked all 3 thought both Apps Sonos and and Alexa and as well linked in Sonos app wtih alexa app. Why I bought it was like many people believe empty promises from sonos to get it sorted but nothing get sorted. And I can tell you I have amazon echo dot on his own as well to compare what actually works on Sonos ONE and what not. Sonos ONE is not proper alexa it is really limited only what Sonos will allow you to use or what amazon allow them to use. Trust me I have spend few hour to sorted one over phone with Amazon why alm these features can not be used on Sonos one. Because Amazon want to have something in his hand what they have more to compare it to not proper third-party alexa built in on another devices. Sonos play with Echo dot much better option because you have proper Alexa and not third-party alexa. Sorry as I said disappointed for that much money great speakers what I can say but highly overpriced with limited options.

Mine too, hahaha
Couldn't think of anything to use it on either.
Thank you OP, was going to get these today at 2 for £350 anyway, so you’ve saved me £35! Popped into my local RS and they honoured the 10% off code in store. Voted hot.

Was tempted by sonos... but resisted
Bought these today for £349!! Well chuffed until I saw this deal. Grrrr. They sound incredible for such small units. Only downside is to be able to play TV sound you need to buy a sound bar type unit for 5 or 6 hundred quid.
Don't suppose curry's would do anything to price match as I payed OTT!
