Gen 2: The second generation of the Sonos One has been upgraded with increased memory and an updated processor.

Sonos One gives you rich, room-filling sound and has the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa built in for simple voice control of your music, and more. Ask for songs while you cook, easily turn the volume up while you’re in the shower, or even request a lullaby when you’re putting the kids to bed. Sonos One connects to the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa over Wi-Fi. Just plug in the speaker and follow step-by-step instructions in the app (available on iOS and Android). In minutes you’re ready to play music, get news and answers, manage your smart devices, and enjoy all the convenience of your voice assistant with nothing but your Sonos One. Anyone in your home can take charge of the music. Kids can call out their favorite sing-alongs, friends can skip or replay tracks and adjust audio settings, and guests can request their favorite songs in real time.

Voice control with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
The Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are built in so you can play music, check news, set alarms, get your questions answered, and more, completely hands free.

Brilliant sound for every room
The compact design fits just about any space. Put it on your kitchen top or tuck it away on the office bookshelf. It's also humidity-resistant so you can put it in the bathroom.

Stereo sound with two
Pair with another Sonos One (Gen 2) in the same room for stereo separation and more detailed sound. And you can use a pair as rear home theatre surround speakers with the Sonos Playbar, Playbase, or Beam (sold separately).

Build your own system
Easily connect Sonos speakers in different rooms over Wi-Fi to create a home sound system that plays music in any or every room.

Sonos sound
Enjoy clear, richly-detailed sound that fills the room at all volumes, with the superb audio quality that Sonos are renowned for.

Easy to use
Setup takes minutes, and control is simple with the Sonos app, AirPlay 2, and your voice. And you can customise your system to play what you want, where you want.

Choice of control
Sonos One seamlessly syncs voice, app, and touch commands, enabling you to manage music with a single word, tap of the app, or swipe on the speaker touch panel. Combine voice control with the Sonos app to manage all your music in one place. And you can easily access many music subscription services including Spotify* and Deezer.

App control
Take full control of your media with the SONOS Controller app. Available to download for free, it gives you the freedom to adjust volume, switch settings and more.** Using the TRUEPLAY feature in the Sonos App, you can custom tune this speaker for finely-balanced sound enrichments based on speaker positioning, even when it’s incorporated in a full Sonos home cinema setup.

*A Spotify Premium account is required to use Spotify services on Sonos

**You must download this app to set the Sonos One up

Waiting for them to stick Bluetooth on it, I’ll buy a couple then.

I have had several Bluetooth speakers - sound quality is nowhere near over WiFi/air-play speaker

Did try a pair of Ruark speakers, they were Bluetooth and sounded great, drawback was second speaker needed to be joined by cable. There are rumours of a Sonos with Bluetooth in the making. I’ll wait till that.

Home Max?
Sorry just want speakers, have no interest in talking to boxes.....Way to old to start with that.

I think it's better...it's the echo studio that may give it a run.....then again, how they could make a speaker without forward and back buttons is beyond me....
Great deal. Great sound quality. In terms of sound this is in a different league to any Amazon or Google product.

Voice control, no need for buttons (you also have smartphone controls, including through Home app)
But sometimes you just wanna press or swipe something!

That would be the Sonos Move... :-)

johnlewis.com/son….ds

Get brilliant Sonos sound anywhere with the weatherproof and drop-resistant Move. You can control it with your voice, the Sonos app (available on iOS and Android), and Apple AirPlay 2 at home. And you can stream music directly via Bluetooth when Wi-Fi isn't available. Battery powered and durable, it’s ideal for both indoor and outdoor listening.
I would buy one of these (and a beam) if it supported Chromecast/cast, but it seems like Sonos have no plans to add the feature (even though Google assistant is built in)!

Is it any louder than the google home?, also with the google home it will output to my bluetooth system, I guess this will not do this.
Don’t want or need outdoor speaker, going to John Lewis store today, to check out there alternatives.

Not everyone wants to be left behind. My grandad built his first PC at 70 and was always into the newest tech.
This or the home max is where I'm stuck. I will probably end up getting the beam so I think possibly 2 of these...

Ill probably end up buying both to save making a decision.

No idea which is louder, you could go and demo them and compare... that'd be fun for the store. This doesn't have any Bluetooth functionally.

Thanks, no good for me then, shame.
Honestly... These are quite poor products.
Great sound for a small device. But no where near worth the money. The app is poor, the sync with Google is flawed and connecting the damn thing can be really slow and tricky. Probably the worst value for money product I've ever bought..
However, if you like that sort of thing... This is a good price.

That's right, swiping increases/decreases volume, tapping stops playback, I still find myself doing it sometimes...

FWIW, Home Max sounds amazing with pop/rock music, a bit less so with classical. Especially Spotify integration is impressive. Being a musically educated/demanding individual, I'm very pleased with it.

So how does dual Google Assistant and Alexa support work? Can you wake up either at any point or do you have to switch one off? Does it have the full functionality of both? And does the Google part wake up more responsively than on Google's own devices?

Sorry for all the questions, I love my Google Home devices in principle but they're a little awkward to wake!
I’ve not been able to get Sonos One and Echo devices into the same Alexa Multi-Room music group

Oh I’m not being left behind, built a few computers in my time, ok with computers, tolerate mobile phones, but have absolutely no interest in talking to boxes, speakers or whatever you want to call them. My children have been forwarded never to buy me anything Alexa or Google. I’m much happier with a keyboard.

Weird line to draw but OK I guess.
