Just ordered pair of these from my favorite electrical supplier. Used the telesales line 0333 900 0093 and asked for “price beat” which beats the lowest price by £10. I quoted Amazon and John Lewis who are doing them at £248. Suspect this offer won’t last long. Absolutely no quibble at all.

Use these offers as your price beat

Sonos as a system has two big things going for it – breadth of choice and simplicity of use” What Hi-Fi Award Winner 2017.

Sonos and Alexa – two of the greatest names together with the Sonos One
Already established as one of the leading voice recognition systems, Amazon’s Alexa has proved a big hit. Simply say the word “Alexa” and request what you’d like to listen to and from which service. This could be as general as, “Alexa, play indie from the 90s.” To something more specific, such as, “Alexa, Play Despacito from Amazon Music.” With the system incorporated into the Sonos One, it’s now better than ever.

All the music you love at your fingertips or the tip of your tongue
Find the right music for every moment on Spotify. Search any artist or song, create and share playlists, and get personalized recommendations. Listen on Sonos and control the music with your voice, the Spotify app or the Sonos app.

Control much more
Play songs, check news and traffic, manage smart devices and enjoy all those other helpful Amazon Alexa skills using a single Sonos One speaker.

Now featuring Apple AirPlay 2 for seamless streaming from your Apple device
With AirPlay, stream directly from your Apple devices to compatible Sonos speakers—or ask Siri to play your favorites from Apple Music throughout your home.

Control any way you want
Sonos One seamlessly syncs voice, app, and touch commands, enabling you to manage music with a single word, tap of the app, or swipe on the speaker touch panel. Combine voice control with the Sonos app to manage all your music in one place.

The TRUEPLAY revolution - giving you tailored sound
The Sonos One also features revolutionary TRUEPLAY technology. TRUEPLAY scans your room, analyses the results and then fine tunes the speaker for the ideal listening experience. Whether your room is large or small and the unit is placed close to a wall or in the centre, the One adapts to give the most natural and realistic sound possible.

Built for continuous improvement
With its smooth good looks, the Sonos One is designed to look every bit as good in years to come as it does now. Yet Sonos have taken the idea of design longevity further by engineering in the ability to update the electronics through future software updates.

The Sonos system
The Sonos wireless sound system is simply one of the best-sounding, most reliable and flexible there is. With the latest Sonos components you don't even require a BRIDGE or BOOST, as they are capable of linking via your home Wi-Fi system. For the very best results, though, linking one component to an Ethernet connection will allow you to take advantage of the famous Sonos 'Mesh' system.

Strength through numbers
The more components you add, the stronger the dedicated wireless mesh becomes. Best of all, because it runs independently from your Wi-Fi, the reliability and strength of the signal is unaffected by Wi-Fi dropouts.

Built to last
With robust build quality, the One is not only built to last but also ideal for use in rooms with wide temperature changes - such as conservatories. The solid construction with no vinyl wrap or wood veneers to peel or distort will still look good in years to come. As usual, there's a Sonos One White and Sonos One Black, making finding one to suit your decor easy.

For the best in sound quality and ease of use, just ask Alexa and listen to how good the Sonos One sounds.

Called up and they won't give me the extra £10 to beat the price. But this is decent if you get it.

Claims they all got an internal email earlier telling them they can't beat it. only price matching
Does sort of contradict their policy.... Asked to speak to manager and waiting on a call back.

But heat anyway.

I got Currys to price match and used a company 7% discount for Currys vouchers, bringing cost close to £230. In case helpful for anyone!

Heat purely for the reason I gave in the other one yesterday, but extra heat for the 6 year warranty. Assuming Sonos don’t stop supporting these in 6 years. Stupid Sonos
That's the one they did is yesterday with SPRIN100 but expired about an hour later. That's good if they do price beat on it.
Yeah I figured the 6yr warranty at least helps ensure you’ve 6yrs peace of mind although it seams Sonos got the message loud and clear about product support

Could be they are interpreting the base price as less than £300 (bare in mind £50 off comes direct from Sonos for buying a pair) in which case it’s beat by £5 but, as you can see from my sale receipt, I didn’t have to ask he automatically took another £10
Just called me back. I'm told that the warranty at John Lewis and Amazon isn't comparable to allow them to 'price beat.'
In the T&Cs, it says it must 'carry a comparable guarantee.' He quoted it all to me...

Tried to debate it but go no where. Maybe I just dealt with a stickler and I was unlucky.

If it was me I’d still take them at £248 with the extra 6 year warranty. Still a cracking price
Already ordered from JL anyway, which I know I can easily return but seemed like a lot more hassle and it didn't make me want to order it from them with how they dealt with it.

I just called and was told the same. No price beat on this item. Was told the other sale "must have been a mistake".
As above £248 is still a fantastic price - I called my local store and they did price beat of another £5 (per their policy on items up to £300 so I don't know how OP managed it) great deal!
I’ve got a Beam and tempted to grab these for the rear/surround. Are they any good in this setup (decent sized lounge)?
Just ordered. Same story for me, wouldn’t give the additional £10 off on their ‘Price Beat’ because JL don’t offer a 6 year guarantee as standard so “the deal is not comparable” allegedly. Still a cracking find for less than £250 for a pair of these though

Exactly why I grabbed a pair. I listened to two configurations in a sound room and it made a huge difference. The next step change to a Beam + two rear is with the subwoofer. Maybe have to wait till Fathers Day !
No price beat but the guy I spoke to was so easy to deal with. On the phone for under 5 minutes and 2 speakers coming later this week. Thanks OP!
Best stands for these, as want to use them as surrounds

Absolutely. I started with the beam. Then added the Ones gen2, big noticeable improvement of course with the added surround channels and recently added the sub. Thoroughly recommend.

Not looked at the corresponding deal but it'd have to include a similar 6yr guarantee that Richer Sounds offer
Strange as no other retailer gives 6 year warranty yet they price match the usual .JL Costco . crampton Moore etc.on pretty much everything on HUKD.
They could use that excuse on any price match tbh.

I know little about hi-fi and audio phonics, despite working in Tech'. Do these give worthwhile output over the typical built in speakers on a TV? Cheers

I’ve seen those ones too. I’ve positioned mine on nearby shelves and tuned to the room. Remember these are mains powered so position close to mains outlet. The room tuning allows flexibility in locating the speakers so as long as the speakers are behind or at the back of the listening area you will have enjoyable performance.

Yes, but you can’t connect it directly to a TV. You would also need a Sonos Port to take the audio from the TV and play it out of Sonos speakers.. not sure if there are other ways to do it.

Thanks for the advice, appreciated
That’s a good point you make and another good reason why starting with a Beam, that sits under the TV and can be connected with a spare HDMI port on the TV (ideally ARC so the Beam’s volume control follows your tv volume controls). If you then want to later expand with either Sonos Ones or SLs (same but without microphones or Alexa , which incidentally is disabled on the Ones when paired with a Beam rendering them unnecessary) they connect to the Beam wirelessly

Pretty sure fellow HUKD on this thread were denied the usual we will beat any quote by up to 100 due to fact the other retailers don't have 6 year warranty. And yes iam a fan of RS too. They initially brought in the 6 year warranty so as not to be able to match due to having a extra year warranty than everyone else. Unfortunately it back fired and they quickly returned to normal price match procedures

They are usually priced at £149 (well that's what I paid for mine) so not quite, but still a 50+ quid saving which is good.
FFS!

I spent £20 more than this for a pair of SLs at bloody Argos a couple weeks ago and that was with £50 of vouchers!

Sonos has mad fluctuations
No HiRes audio on these

Sonos has lost half its market value in the past couple of months. They’re not going under or anything, but it’s hardly surprising that there would be a sale, just didn’t expect them to go this low
HogarthHughes22/03/2020 22:25

No but really why do you need it to? I seriously don’t think any true audiophile would choose listen to 96kHz 24bit music on a Sonos One and most people’s ears couldn’t tell the difference on a speaker that size regardless of its brand or price. Anyway Sonos S2 software drop scheduled for release in June 2020 promises to change that but seriously you won’t be able to tell. whathifi.com/us/…dio

Reminds me of when Currys had their "Find a better price and we'll double the difference" policy. Argos had Forza Horizon 1 £20 cheaper than they did, so they had to take £40 off their item, but the salesman in store refused. Rang up and they were fine with it.

Regarding that, they only have to beat the deal by £5, as I think as it’s sold as a pair comes in that £300 bracket? Correct me if I’m wrong and the tenner off was for £5 for each speaker?
So, question, if I have the sonos beam connected to my TV via hdmi arc, can I put these two at the back of room to act as rear speakers? The sound must get sent via WiFi to the back two, so is there any lag?

No i know that, I have a Gen 2 purchased a couple of months ago, I use Google Assistant on it, what I'm saying is the price was dropped to £149 for quite a while, which I thought was the right price anyway, the rrp £199 was way overpriced.
