Good job! Love it when people provide price comparisons in their deals to save time searching myself.
Gen 1 I'm assuming?
so it says with alexa in the desc but it doesnt have it?
well I asked argos and they said its the version that comes with alexa...?
It DOES have Alexa but is the Gen 1 version of the Sonos One speaker. Sonos are now shipping the Gen 2 version of this speaker. Its still a good price and will do what it says on the tin.
Have ordered so will post photos when received but yes this is the Sonos One which has Alexa/GA

It is a little confusing but it's the Play 1 that doesn't have Alexa. They brought out a gen 2 Sonos One which I think they improved the processor on.

Aesthetically, I like the colour of these two. No greys on the grills, just all white or all black. Not a decider, but a bonus!

Deffo a good price, what people are saying though is that there has been an updated version of the Sonos One (with Alexa/Google) since the original model.

Not at all confusing that there is a Sonos Play 1, a Sonos One (G1), a Sonos One (G2) and a Sonos One SL which is a Sonos One G2 without the voice assistant but with the newer hardware for the rest of it.
Good deal. They sound SO much better as a stereo pair though! But that means you'll be saving twice as much money, so what are you waiting for?

Assume this the model that has Airplay 2 support?
Edited by: "iEimis" 17th Jan
Been wondering about these for a while and seeing as I‘ve had another cr*p night’s sleep at the risk of sounding lazy would someone be kind enough to confirm if you can connect to these via BT on you’re phone.

e.g you’re working in a house with no WiFi (indeed no internet at all) can you still use to stream music from your phone via BT?

Could you create a WiFi hotspot on your phone and send music to it that way?

Thanks in advance

Heat for the price OP and congratulations on your 1st post.

Yep one and Sl do and add airplay compatibility to other non airplay 2 Sonos speakers if grouped 😬

No.
Sonos isn’t just a normal speaker setup.

With Sonos, you are nearly the remote control for the speaker.

The audio comes from the internet to the speaker itself.

So if you set some music to play, from your phone, the go out for the day, the music continues to play.

Also others can connect at the same time as you to add music to the playlist.

The speaker connects to Spotify (or whatever music service) and you tell it what playlist or songs to play, using your phone, laptop, iPad etc...

There’s no direct WiFi connection or Bluetooth support.
Also no like-in or aux etc.
This better than a echo plus I assume?
When you click on the 'get deal' tab, images 1 and 3 clearly show this is the Play:One 2nd gen and not the Play:1 aka first gen. Maybe @unclebatman should change title to Sonos:One 2nd Gen and watch the heat rise 🥵🥵

Please let’s get this right. There’s a Play 1 (which only has one generation), a Sonos One 1st gen and a Sonos one 2nd gen. there is no visible difference between a Sonos One first generation and the Sonos One second generation. The play 1 does have a visible difference. There is no ‘Play: One 2nd Gen’ as you have suggested. Images 1 and 3 could be a Sonos One 1st or 2nd gen.

Some funny goings on at Sonos at the moment. I'm knee-deep into their eco system but I'm not confident they are going to be around long into the future. Just a hunch, but a series of poor choices and product launches gives the impression that they're thrashing around trying to find their place in a market that is now dominated by cheaper - possibly better? - competitor products.
Is this gen 2?

I think they are doing better than ever, I don't think there is a better speaker for the price that does everything it can. The stupid naming does not help though, can't wait until they bring out the "Sonos One Gen 3 1 Play 2 One"

Not sure what this is based on considering competition (like Bose for example) are doing considerably worse.

I'm struggling (and so is Google) to find speakers in this price range that have the same level of quality. Would love to know if they exist

Thanks for taking the time to explain that - I think I get it now

It’s just where I’m working next week there is no internet, but that said there’s going to be lots of dust and dirt so maybe not the best place for such a nice speaker anyway

I’ll stick with the JBL flip 4 we’re using right now, but do want to get one of these at some point as everyone raves about the sound quality but I’ve never heard one as yet!

Hmm, so what is comparable to this product and costs less? :/
The EAN number suggests it’s gen 1

I don't need to find anything comparable, or that costs less. I love Sonos. I've got a Sonos speaker in every room. But I think they're struggling as a brand and I'd question some of the actions they are taking as a company right now.
Suing Google, for example, is not very wise.
Ordinarily I would have voted hot, the price is great. And I've been an advocate of Sonos for years. But yesterday, Sonos announced it won't support certain products anymore. For me, this means 3 speakers and £1000+ of equipment I bought just 5 years ago and is in perfect condition and working order will need to be replaced. Essentially, any brand new Sonos product could be worthless in as little as five years. So I'm very sad to say that I won't be buying any new Sonos speakers in the future. Anyone who has bought this, especially if you're planning on filling a house with a smart speaker system, I suggest you return it.

Heard this from a colleague this morning, also apparently if your system has a mix of supported and unsupported products then your supported products won't be updated going forward. I too won't be adding to my existing system as I think this is a shocking way to treat loyal customers who've invested a lot of their money in Sonos kit.

Shocking doesn't cover it, I'm being held to ransom. I've got £3000 worth of stuff (that I built up over time and couldn't really afford) that could stop working at any point after support for 3 of my speakers ends in May. Sonos' solution is to offer me an insulting 30% discount to replace them, but this will still cost me £1000+. And my speakers are fine, I don't want new ones. I don't have £1000. Even if I did, it's only a matter of time before they do the same with some of my other speakers and I'm back to square one. I feel sick.

They are torching a lot of goodwill among a very loyal customer base: the very people who will pay a bit more to not have to have Google or Amazon in their homes. And it's not the first time they've done it.

Ratner moment for Sonos.
I tried them once & thought they were overpriced & over hyped. Todays announcement does not surprise me. The only audio in my house will be audio I have control of. Remember the new sonos stuff you buy today, will be old hat to them shortly, & will be discarded in the same way.

Spot on themadgoose.- I've invested 15 years into this ecosystem, however no more.

As this is a 'deals site' anyone purchasing a SONOS product should read their recent announcements re: shelf life …. these bargains on older SONOS products may not be the bargains people think.
