There were loads there earlier on. Most are customer returns but mine looks brand-new and is covered by the 2 year guarantee. Sound quality and Spotify integration is amazing, and well worth the money. No idea if its nationwide or not but online John Lewis have it for £134 which is still an amazing deal.

They also had Sonos One's in stock for something like £150 which were also ex-returns.

That's a pretty pointless statement Avantime. It's like saying "If you're serious about cars, you need a BMW or Mercedes instead of a Ford".
If you've only got a budget of £100, talking of other models costing over 2-3 times more doesn't really help!

After all the hype about these speakers, I sent off for two Sonos one …After all the hype about these speakers, I sent off for two Sonos one speakers. I was very disappointed with them. Alexa is very poor. It repeated US stations like WMEX as " I don't know WWHEX" & similar mis pronouncing of my commands. I spoke slowly & clearly & again fast, My wife did the same. Only once did we got the station, after an hour. I turned them off to replace one of the speakers & when I turned it back on it could not get the station again, no matter what I said. Over the last few weeks I have bought an Anker Mini that was extremely good for the money, an Amazon Echo that was also very good sound, for the money. When I opened the 'TWO' Sonos at the much higher price, I expected to be blown away with it. It was better than the Echo, but no where near as good as it should. Not worth the money by any means. At £75-00 each I would buy them, but they are way over priced so mine are going back.

What shop you taking them back too? So I can buy them for £100 each

Great deal, probably store specific but good buy 😊
This has been sold and returned. Title should be updated to reflect this as all their returned, ferurbished and repaired items are marked up like this.
Always store specific but well worth checking out for this and other customer returns at JL.
yes, come on OP. Should have used/2nd hand in the title.
How many were there op? I might get there early tomorrow to pick one up.

There were atleast 10 on the table and more on another stand all mixed in with the Ones. I saw people with them at the tills as I walked in which led me to go and find them.

I also have three. The stand out thing to me is how punchy and full the sound is at low levels as well as high. Really nice to have on in the background or as sound to fill the room.

I agree I have a pair of 1s in one room and a pair of 5s in another, sound from both pairs is superb

This is a superb deal - nice work. These sound very good on their own and really great when you get two and create a stereo pair! Hope my local JL has a similar deal.
Great price if you can get one!

This one doesn't have Alexa built in - this is a standalone speaker.

Saying things like that about a Sonos will get you hounded off the site by a mob armed with torches and pitchforks

Most reviews of the Sonos One I've read have mentioned its not as good as picking up commands as the Echo - Sonos have done a recent update to try and correct this.

If you are looking at a multi-room setup - you might also consider several echos or several echo dots (linked to speakers with aux in) or multiple chromecasts linked to speakers....

Everyone has different needs. I’ve a number of Sonos. Our house isn’t huge, so we don’t need a sound that spreads for acres - the sound holds very well at all levels on our 4 Sonos appliances (in our view!). But, the thing that works for us via the Sonos App is the exceptional streaming quality from Spotify, and Apple Music, etc, and also the seamless streaming link to the music stored on our NAS. The surround sound it gives when used with the TV + Playbar is a small bonus - but needs setting up right.

Admittedly, the Alexa functionality on the new Sonos One needs some work, but I knew that when I bought it. But the speaker itself is a significant improvement on the Echo, for me.

In my humble opinion, if there is a brand new Sonos Play:1 less than £125, it’s good value. For a Sonos One to be good value, needs to be £150 or below to set it ahead of its peers (my review), which is what I paid.
So it's a refurb? Kind of the price you'd expect
I don’t know much about these. What’s so good about Sonos? I have an Echo which I use for my music, and I especially find it useful as I don’t even need to get out my phone and open an app, and Echo also supports multi room playing. So, is there something that would make this standout in comparison to an Echo?

With Sonos I think you're paying a premium for the buy in to their system/software/app integration. Im sure the sound is decent but if thats all youre interested in then you might be better off looking elsewhere.
So basically there second hand/refurb. You’d get a better deal on eBay.

I bought a pair of the Sonos one speakers. I doubt they are a million miles away in sound, to the Sonos Play 1. I would say the worth of the two with the sound 'quality', amp, etc is around £200-00 for the pair. At this price I would keep them for lo quality 'hi fi' background music. Maybe I'm more fussy as I was into Hi Fi for many years in the past, but in 2017 I expected much better for £350-00. If the Amazon Echo could be paired into stereo, I would get another one of those, & I doubt I would have known too much difference, from the Sonos, if I walked into a room without knowing what was playing. Incidently I did try the Amazon Echo & The Sonos together in the same room. The Echo stood up well in sound, not as good, but not so far away. Sometimes the same command got me different stations.

I absolutely agree. I bought one after reading great reviews but it sounded terrible, so I sold mine on.

I was very disappointed that it sounded far worse than my portable Bluetooth speaker that I have that cost a similar amount.

No clarity at the high end - sounds like listening to music through a wedge of foam. Instrument & voices sound muffled, and it's mono.

Perhaps they sound ok in stereo pairs, but on its own music just sounds flat & lifeless when compared to decent alternatives.

Good amount of bass for the size, and I guess you'll perhaps like it if you don't compare it to anything else, but the sound quality in my opinion is pretty poor.

I have no idea how these get such good reviews... unless I received a dud.

Totally agree.Had a listen to one and not impressed at all.Same people buying them think bose and beats are great audio equipment .Was sick of buying sub standard speakers and opted to take up my works deal for the naim mu-so qb and muso and wow.Totally different ball game amd yep expensive bit do I regret spending that much absolutely not.
To counter the negative posts, I have two play 5’s and they are amazing. I have heard the play 1s at my brothers and fiends house and they are still very nice speakers. They are meant to be used in a smaller room such as a kitchen or bedroom, with the play 3 and play 5 designed for larger rooms and adding punch, but they still have some doesn’t sound quality (which you can ignore the hyperbole claims in this topic) and volume.

comparing them to a Bluetooth speaker is a bit of a lame duck in my opinion, they are much more than a Bluetooth speaker due to their connected functionality

All about options, doesn't make either of us right or wrong, will probably try the 3's or 5's next.

Yep, top end is awful, for a small, single speaker the bass is impressive, but for the money the overall sound is good, not amazing, like the sheep seem to think.
I assume then, you buy a base speaker (main speaker) and all the other small speakers (one in each room for example), connect to the base speaker?
mad_design_man6 h, 54 m ago

You dont get a 2 year guarantee that way though.
All you people complaining about sound quality, did you run the TruePlay tuning routine? It makes a huge difference. I’m a bit of a hifi snob, but I run a pair of Play:1 speakers in my kitchen and love them. Even spend time washing up and cleaning just so I can do more listening. Main hifi is a pair of Naim amps and some expensive B&W floorstanders. They certainly beat the Sonos on bass quantity, but not by a lot in “musicality”. Like any speakers, a single mono unit isn’t a patch on a stereo pair, of course.
