Definitely cheapest, heat added for the effort, but I'd pay the extra £5 for Richer Sounds 6 year warranty.

Isn't the Gen 2 much better though with Alexa built in?
I have the Sonos Beam with Alexa built in and wondered, would Alexa come through all speakers and operate even though the Sonos 1 doesn't have Alexa built in?

Yes. (As long as the beam can hear the command).

That's the Sonos One with the far field mics. The Play:1 gen 1 and 2 feature wise are pretty much the same.

I don't know what the extra integration into the Sonos One is like but I find the voice control of Sonos through an Echo dot isn't particularly good, so I generally just use the controller which lets you do exactly what you want.

I was considering a Play:1 at this price for the bathroom but then thought I would get a One instead as the voice control should be good enough to play different radio stations which is usually all I want in the bathroom; if I'm having a long soak I might take in my phone and Bluetooth speaker. Maybe I'll just stick with my FM radio . Any deals on a battery DAB model?

I have absolutely no issues using my Echo Dots (4 of them) with my four zone Sonos setup
If I had another room I would buy this. Hot

From what I can gather it works ok with Spotify and Amazon music, although I'm not sure it respects the Sonos queue (although the Sonos controller stopped respecting that too a while ago and now allows an album to replace the queue if you select the wrong option); I play local media from a Nas (I've had Sonos since before streaming was really a thing) and also now Google music which Alexa won't work with. The Alexa Sonos integration is a bit weird in that Alexa 'takes over' a Sonos zone, rather than interfaces fully to Sonos and performs the actions asked, so in the Sonos controller it displays as an Alexa session.

I do use it to control radio on Sonos which works ok.
I've got 2 of these set up with my Sonos Beam and the surround sound is pretty decent. I'd recommend them.
Incredible speaker, great price for it too !

Got any links to the Play:1 gen 1 and 2 as you have stated in the second sentence above? Would love to see any small differences. I’m talking play:1 gen 1 and 2 NOT Sonos One. Thanks.
I have been buying Sonos one (gen2) for 100-110 off facebook. as there is alot on the market right now(and over the last 2 months). due to a mobile contracts where people got one as a free gift.

I have bought 6 so far some of them where not even opened. so yes i may loose a month or 2 warranty on them as being 2nd hand and the user may of tried it out. but i am happy with the saving as these things are £199 new.

I also have a beam that i have used 2 with for surround sound and must say it is sweet.

I also mainly use amazon music as i have amazon prime and works very well on these speakers. (as i dont like to fork out ££ on streaming services so amazon work best for me)

Remmeber you can now use google assistance on sonos now. i find this way better to use but it dos have it falls backs. i mianly use google assiatance for the TV sound speakers and alexa for the other.
You've got to be careful with Alexa speakers that aren't made by amazon themselves. They do most things, but some features are not available in the non-amazon devices.
Just be aware SONOS are removing the ability to play from an iDevice soon. Major bummer for Play1 users.
