Tbh I don't see the point of paying extra for the Sonos Play One. You can still use alexa with sonos play 1 as long as you have the app installed on your smartphone or if you have an amazon echo or dot

One of the things I hated about the 1's was the silver mesh grille which they have now colour-coded with the speaker in the One's. The One's look so much better for this reason and blend IMO. Once they add Google Home integration and send out some updates I think the One will be the all in one solution.

I seem to be in the minority that actually prefer the look of the Play 1s!

I have two 1s and 1 One(!). The main advantage is fewer devices, and better sound quality for Alexa. Seems to work pretty well and it’s the right number for the rooms I have and space. I had a 3 but I prefer the paired 1s for better surround stereo.

Thanks for the reply. I only read the reviews online and the upgrade seemed pointless to me. Design is a personal preference and when it comes to google home integration if it ever arrives it will be the same story as with alexa... you should just be able to use google now on your phone as well.

The Google Home integration is definitely coming as it was announced by Sonos and Google. They are working with Google so I think the end result will be better than the current Alexa intergration which is very limited.

I doubt they will get that low as they are just selling off whats now old stock as they will only produce the One, though I'm happy for you to prove me wrong as I still can do with an extra for the bathroom.
Need a speaker for a noisy work shop environment. Is this a bit overkill, what does it do?

I bloody hope so! Was well annoyed when I found out there's no bridge between sonos and Google assistant.

I got an echo dot for Xmas and already have a play 1. Any searches I have looked at to connect them up have not been positive. Is is straight forward?

From what I've heard the mics on the Sonos One aren't great. Hence why I bought two Play 1s and an echo dot. Works perfectly.

Was very straightforward and quick to pair them. However I can't say I've found using voice control for music to be useful so I just use my phone.
Have they added support for wireless N or AC in the new version? I bought a play one and sent it back as it was only compatible with 802.11G meaning I had to knock my 2.4GHz band down
I’ve used Superfi, can highly recommend them as a company to use and very competitive and good with price match too.

I would imagine it's more likely to be underkill.

This is only the tiddler in the range.

Ye very annoying as LG and others have brought out smart speakers with Google built in and working.

I think SONOS were caught with their pants down as they should have had a head start (seeing as their business is about smart speakers) and had full Alexa and Google integration by now but instead its a half baked product at this time (the smart bit i mean) but the hardware is there so it will only improve with software updates and time.
I think its a good thing that they are taking they time with google assistant integration in working with google so when its released it will work as it should (fingers crossed).

Each to their own i guess I just think the all white One's do blend in better with white rooms which is what i have. I hate silver gadgets with a passion

Thanks. Meant overkill by features if I'm only using for work. But volume is noted, thx.
Was looking at sonos but I feel downfall is can't connect to YouTube...and don't have subscription to spotify/Deezer type of service.

Dont be put off by its size. I live on a 3rd floor flat, 7 flights of stairs. I could be easily heard on ground floor if turned up.
Do you have wifi is the first question as its no good without it. Most people will also opt for 2 x play 1's as apposed to a play 5 as you can pair them up for stereo. and 2 play 1's give a better sound than a play 5 for less money.

He's saying he doesn't have a subscription to Spotify or Deezer; ergo, he wouldn't be able to use them with Sonos.

If you have an iPhone then you can use SonosTube to play anything from YouTube. No workaround for Android unfortunately.

Sonostube is available for Android as well ( not through Google Play) on the developers website
Brilliant guys! Thank you for the info...i already have the speaker. Will look into sonostube on developers website (android). If I can't seem to set it up will send it back!

Yeah I've used it on my S8 and Tab S, it's terrible compared to the iOS version. It buffers the video for ages whereas the one I use on my iPad plays straight away. Android version also doesn't let you do anything else while the video is playing. Then there's the fact they charge you per device on Android whereas it's a one time fee for all your iOS devices. When they bring it up to par with the iOS version I'll recommend it.

I've used SonosTube on my Galaxy S8 and Tab S, it can do the job but it's nowhere near as good as the iOS version. You only get a 2 day trial then I think you have to pay £4 per device. If you have an iOS device in the house I'd advise you to get it on that instead.

I read stacks of reviews saying the same.
Received a pair of Ones last week and the mic’s are far better than the Dot or the 2nd Gen. guessing an update fixed this.
Very pleased with them and so glad I didn’t but the Play 1’s

The play ones with Alexa do have 2.4ghz, I was surprised they can't use 5ghz band though.

Supposedly the audio is more reliable on the 2.4GHz as the lower speed wi-fi is considered more stable, but I was also surprised they don't support 5.1GHz. Luckily my router can run two separate wi-fi networks 2.4 and 5.1 GHz at the same time, so it isn't a major problem for me. But if you have more than one Play 1 I think you can connect one via wired, and then enable Sonus Net to allow the second one to connect to the first one wirelessly.

Hmm, not had the echo dot fail me yet and I'm usually speaking from quite a distance so any supposed increased performance wouldn't have been worth it for me!
