Sonos Play 1/3/5 £15/£25/£40 off at RicherSounds

Found 16th Apr 2014
Any discount on Sonos kit is worth having as it is pretty hard to come by. I was looking for discount on 2x Play:3 units and I found the following discount codes for the Sonos Play 1/3/5 at unlimitedaudio.co.uk:

Play:1 £159 (£10 off) - 10oFFP1
Play:3 £229 (£20 off) - 20oFFP3
Play:5 £319 (£30 off) - 30oFFP5

I took these prices to a Richer Sounds retail store today and they agreed to price match. Also, because of their price matching policy I got a further £5 discount per Play:3 making the two I purchased £224 each!

With the Play:5 costing £301+, according to their price match policy you would get £10 back making it £309!

Richer Sounds pricing with additional 'price match cashback':

Play:1 £154 (£15 off)
Play:3 £224 (£25 off)
Play:5 £309 (£40 off)

Here are the Richer Sounds price match details:

richersounds.com/inf…eat

I can only really comment on my experience with the Play:3s today, but I don't see why they wouldn't honour this elsewhere and across the range whilst these codes are live.

EDIT:

It has been pointed out in the comments that the unlimitedaudio.co.uk discount codes will only work once you are using a registered account.

Thanks djs_172 for working that out!

EDIT:

Dancer32 has provided some extra codes that work with www.smarthomesounds.co.uk:

Play:1 £159 (£10 off) - 10oFFP1shs
Play:3 £229 (£20 off) - 20oFFP3shs
Play:5 £319 (£30 off) - 30oFFP5shs

This should allow the price match to still go through with Richer Sounds, given that the original discount codes appear to have expired.

Only if you aren't placing one of the devices anywhere near a network port which goes back to your router. I have my Sonos connect plugged into ethernet so do not need the bridge. This then broadcasts on its own mesh network to my Play 3 upstairs.

i dont think this would make me go out and buy three of each

I am getting this instead as I already have speakers... myrocki.com/

Each one costs $49 and you can choose what colour you want. They ship to the UK but have to contact them prior to ordering.

Voted Hot! like you say, any discount on sonos gear is a bonus! ive been keeping an eye out for discounts on the play 5 for a while as im after a couple of them, maybe its time to bite the bullet now!

good find I just got a play one in last few weeks and very impressed voted hot got mine for same price at dixons travel with voucher

what am I talking about sorry paid £149 for play 1 still good deal though from high street haven't invested in Bridge yet though just hard wired it for moment

Hot. Only disappointed I bought a play 3, 2 weeks ago from John Lewis. Did have vouchers to spend though.

I think a lot of people frequently forget context on this site and idly vote cold without any forethought.

Sonos rarely discount, so this is actually a hot deal even though the reductions are small. Ultimately it is cheaper than you would pay in 99.9% of circumstances.

I think the Play:1 with free Bridge was a better deal earlier in the year (sadly gone), but overall you won't find them cheaper from a reputable dealer until they update the models, I wouldn't have thought.

There have been a few 10% off offers on here recently that got a poor response, yet this gets a hot one

bridges are pretty cheap though often come up in the classified for £20

Wife persuaded me to go halfs on a 5 for our xmas pressie & have to say I'm impressed. I thought there would be a quality issue at low volumes but the bass still comes through well. paid £349 (with a free bridge) so this is obviously rather hot!

Ahhhh wish I had the monies for the 5! Hot

I was planning to get a 5.1 speakers and an Amp. Would this be an alternative? instead of being compact, what other qualities these have compared to a 5.1 system? I've seen Tannoy SFX 5.1 and Onkyo TXNR 616. Good quality speakers and decent amp with network and DLNA for around £300.
So why should I consider sonos? (Sorry if I'm ignorent)

This is totally different - this is essentially a Hi-Fi speaker for music. there is no way to connect an AV source to this.

5.1 is for AV, Sonos is for Music.

oh..Ok. Perhaps I will stick to 5.1 system as they can be used as Hi-Fi as well as AV. Thanks for that.

I agree, but Sonos don't. They have a soundbar which can be linked to a sub and some Play:3s as satellites/left/right.

Hey, kingjude, the Rocki looks like a good option. Can you remember how much it is to ship to the UK? Can you comment on sound quality? May be just what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Superb gear.

Do you also post "Chavtastic" a lot in the fashion section (_;)

Looked at the soundbar but its £599 & the same again for the sub. Add £249 a piece for Play 3's & your looking at almost £1700!

Would be nice though.....

I have just bought two Play 1's at £154 each to complete my 5.1 setup. I already have the soundbar and sub which are excellent.

I purchased the Play 1's via Richer Sounds online store by emailing them requesting a price match. They rang later in the day to take details so I could place the order.

I have been waiting for a deal for a while now, and this seems the best in a while.

Whilst I love sonos, a 5.1 set up is ridiculous price.

I've got a cinema in a spare room which has a Yamaha amp and monitor audio vector speaker package which would likely blow this sound out the water. I paid £500 all in for it. In fact my whole cinema came to just a grand, including projector, brackets and an electric screen.

If you're thinking of spending that much I suggest you go to a hifi shop and demo some proper 5.1 or 7.1 systems. You will be surprised.

You won't need a bridge or ethernet connection soon...

Good deal on rarely discounted items, but can't seem to get above discount codes to work; trying 30OOFP5 and 30oFFP5.
Has anyone else had any success with either Unlimited Audio or Richer Sounds price matching the same?

I haven't ordered these yet. I asked in the forums but no one has responded. I think I will go ahead and order a couple and use my credit card just in case.
