Much better value than the useless Sonos One!

Stream music wirelessly throughout your home with the Sonos PLAY:1 - the

smallest of the Sonos range. The PLAY:1 delivers powerful audio that

can fit anywhere.

Featuring a pair of class-D digital amplifiers, one to

power the tweeter and one to power the 3.5" woofer, the PLAY:1 delivers

a highly accurate audio reproduction.

Rich with deep bass and crystal

clear highs, the stylish PLAY:1 may be diminutive but don't let its

compact size fool you, it delivers a surprisingly full, detailed and

hugely enjoyable sound wherever you choose to locate it.

So you could get away with one of these and one of the new ones if you are making a stereo pair. Or just use your phone to control them as the voice control isn't great yet anyways

Unfortunately you can't mix the Play:1 and Ones to make a stereo pair; they need to be the same model...

That speaker looks cheap with the strap ? And it's a lot more expensive too

Not only did I get these for £115 each this year the new replacement is out so this should be even cheaper than this. Not a good price for this

I'll get my time machine, where is it cheaper currently?

The Sonos One is not a replacement for the Play:1, it's a new product with Alexa partially baked in

Copied and pasted the time machine comment well there.
Doesnt change the the fact this is overpriced when a new superior version is out for hardly any price difference and this hasn’t been reduced enough accordingly so I stand 100% behind my comment and believe this is way overpriced for what it is and with respect to recent selling prices

If they all went up to £1m each wouldn’t make it a good deal if somebody started selling them for £999970. Still overpriced for what it is.

If wall mounting them the brackets are totally different so may wanna think about that match up if worrying about aesthetics

That’s naughty by sonos

I’d also say this isn’t a good deal as the votes are proving

I saw this review recently and thought it might be useful to anyone considering a sonos one

Trust me, the Sonos One is not superior, mine was returned last week. Sound wise they are identical.
I'd rather buy a Play:1 and control it with an Echo Dot if I wanted voice control. At least then you have a 100% Alexa compatible device, something which the Sonos One is not.

Rumour has it that the permanent price is set to become £149. Hold out.

Didn't you write exactly this on another thread about the sonos play 5?

Out of genuine interest, what made you return your Sonos One?

I have a couple of Play 1s and had thought, perhaps naively, that the One would be a holy grail - giving everything great about the Play1 and Alexa voice control to boot?

What were its letdowns?

To be honest I wasn't bothered so much about the music voice control, I was planning on getting a Play:1 anyway so thought it would make sense to buy a Sonos One and get rid of my Echo Dot so I didn't have 2 units.

However, not all Alexa Skills are supported, Flash Briefing for example, I couldn't get the Hue skill working 100%. The mic is rubbish compared to the Dot and the actual voice control of music didn't work for me at all. You can't change the wake word from Alexa, which is an issue if you have someone in the house with a similar name. Voice calling is not supported on the Sonos One, Echo only.

All in all, it was rushed to market to beat the Apple offering. If you want one, wait a few months until all the issues are fixed.

Thanks for the heads up! It's good to get a genuine experience of the Sonos One. Half the time you never know whether or not to trust the Amazon reviews - too many folks getting free kit and therefore biased lol

Ugh, remember when this was £110 last year? Should've bought it then. Alexa is pointless.
