Got mine 3 weeks ago from Vodafone broadband deal.
I now fully understand why people pay silly money SONOS products, quite simply incredible sound quality from something this size.

SONOS app is decent as well

I've got a couple of these and a couple of play 5's. Have to say this is a more realistic price now (hike considered) but I find the Play 1's a little under powered for any rooms bigger than 10 x 10. I also consider them a bit over rated by the press etc. They're good, but not "Incredible". The play 5 is where its at IMHO with Sonos.

Good as stand alone satellite speakers but I wouldn't use these as my main sound stage. I agree the app is excellent. I'm glad I bought mine, but if this is your first Sonos purchase you will soon find yourself buying more, and will likely be looking for something with more punch. Be warned. They're addictive.

Love Sonos - have plenty of it around the house.

The new look app however is a pile of toot

Can’t believe these still don’t have Airplay or Bluetooth, this leaves them quite limited for Apple users

I’m waiting for Sonos One to come to this price, anyone aware of offers for the Sonos One?

Still has the price drop! Cheers for posting

Pretty sure Sonos have committed to supporting AirPlay 2 with a software update next year, though the timeline is a bit up in the air as I don't think AP2 is fully implemented on iOS 11 yet, even on the latest betas.

If the timeline is anything like their Sonos integration timeline was I wouldn’t hold your breath

how does this compare to the alexa model?
which will also have google assistant next year?

anyone know that sells for £200 and maybe a better buy

Sound wise apparently identical, only difference is the Alexa / voice capability so really up to the individual whether it’s worth the extra

For me, voice control is probably a bit of a pointless gimmick. Partly as I don’t feel particularly inconvenienced right now quickly opening phone to control sonos and also partly due to my Scottish accent! I doubt Alexa will understand me.

Only time I could think it would be useful is maybe when in shower? But then I wouldn’t have the sonos in the shower room so meh!

In the US, the usual Black friday deal is 150 dollars. Now that it is discontinued this year, might even get cheaper.

Did the same deal and my B.B. is as fast as ever. Sold the Sonos one for £160 on eBay last week

Although great in Mono, these speakers do benefit from being a stereo pair. One of the attractions of SONOS is you can build Zones slowly. Eventually filling your house with music.
However a MAJOR drawback of the SONOS ONE is it doesn't allow stereo pairing with a Play One, this may change with a simple software update mobile.twitter.com/Pat…008,
Also the colour is slightly different (see tweet above)
So at present it would be £200 X 2

Personally I'd recommend:

• Play One
• Amazon Dot (when on offer)
• Amazon Music (when on offer 99p etc)

Then maybe Stereo Pair with another Play One in the future. That would be one zone covered with high quality (subjective but note writeups) Stereo.

The SONOS Alexa integration is very limited at present, but is bound to improve with software updates.

Highly recommend this Speaker, its great value at £150, with 'no quibble' returns just in case.

Yeh seemed a cracking deal, wish had gone for it at the time.

So many negative vibes about the service but clearly working fine for some

My installation was faultless.

Wish mine was too buddy! It’s Openreach side of things, some work has to be done on the lines near the green box things:/ also had to wait a few weeks for ‘traffic management’ so they could work on the box

can you play local files and what about certain music apps which are not listed - the free ones? can you stream from that to the sonos... or is music only restricted to premium apps?

thanks

Yeah they've really done a number on people this year. Raised the price of the basic model, and released a gimmicky voice-activated model that's exactly the same quality

Definitely I just mean in general I find current voice control things a bit pointless.
Once they are like Jarvis in iron man I’ll buy in lol

Yes you can play files on local network, I have a NAS drive setup feeding mine so I don't need to leave laptop on, and also I believe you can stream music stored on your phone via the app, but NOT via bluetooth.

Supports streaming from, amongst others, 7Digital, Deezer, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Last.FM, Napster however I think you probably do need a subscription for these, certainly for Spotify you do.

yeh its shame you need a premium sub for these services to work
but have ordered and will trial
