I’d pay extra to not have Alexa
The Sonos One doesn't replace the Play:1. Not everyone wants or needs Alexa built in (myself included). This is a steal.

Have multiple Play 1s, a One, and an Echo Dot covering a house.

To me, the best arrangement is to operate voice control via the Echo Dot placed on a bookshelf in a hallway or lobby, a small distance away from any speakers. When the volume is turned up to even a modest level, the One is pretty unreliable at picking out the Alexa keyword because the mics are right next to the sound source. By using a smaller number of strategically placed Dots, you gain more reliable control, in my experience, as well as being able to use other Alexa functions that are not integrated into the One.

You'll still have to use your phone app regularly, though, as Alexa can't group and ungroup Sonos speakers.

Still waiting for the new One to drop. I doubt that will happen

Why do you think they will discontinue the Play One, not everyone wants or needs Alexa built in...

Absolute bargain! Price they should've stayed at all year

Yes but I don't want to litter my house with gadgets so need one that has both built in.

£149 RRP, it's an OK deal. Was cheaper last week, and indeed last year.
Got one! Add it to my small collection Hot Hot Hot
@k4j3 it's inevitable they will in the longer term that's the only difference between the two whilst I appreciate not everyone wants Alexa it will just be there if you want to use it.

Still a great price I bought ours from cex at £120 grade a 2 years ago never looked back and then noticed the prices hiked so they have appreciated in value even secondhand !

No pun intended but a sound investment

i paid £115 for these last january but this is a good price and as an owner of the new ONE and some amazon echo dots i feel this is a better product/price ratio than the new ONE. Give you options and also you dont need the echo to be next to the speaker so can be more of a remote concept or if you want it near you can do that too. This gives you options

Ive found the ONE to be a pain in the 4r5£ with it coming up thinking im talking to it when im not, much more than the echo ever does
I voted hot, but as above RRP had dropped since hook up with Amazon, and competing with Google

They have discontinued the Play 3 in America so take that as a sign. Eventually all they speakers will be smart as they have increased competition now from Apple and Google who are bringing in smart speakers with assistants built in

Absolutey fantastic speaker. I got one as a free gift from Vodafone earlier this year. Having a few difficulties since a software update playing Spotify directly, it's now requiring me to use the Sonus app to access Spotify. Few nigly bugs but very compact and excellence sound.

Looking to grab a second one to pair up with so may bite at this. Heat OP.

I actually went into the Sonos store in London yesterday and asked about the Play:1 Vs One. Apparently the One is unlikely to drop in price as it's been out for 6 weeks, while the Play:1 will remain part of the range.

What was interesting was that they said the Play:3 was going to be discontinued, so perhaps keeping an eye out for bargains on that?

SONOS owner for 8 years, never seen a Play One for £134 or lower so a great deal.
HOWEVER be warned! These things are addictive, be prepared for another Play One to make a Stereo Pair!

Enjoy a fabulous product, simply the BEST wireless streaming system on Planet Earth, bar none.

Ps
Wait for the "oh it doesn't support Bluetooth tooth, apple protocal and Android casting."

SONOS mesh far more stable, especially building Zones.

The One is down to £180 now at Curry's. Worth buying just not to look at that silver mesh!

Issue with SONOS ONE as of now it does not Stereo Pair with an existing Play One.
Also Play One and SONOS ONE are, as you say very slightly but annoying different, so when stereo pair is 'allowed' via software update the two won't match aesthetically.

Best to go:

Play One > Echo Dot > Play One for stereo pair alexa route.

Build slowly.

Personally, I'm waiting for the Google Max speaker. But I think the ONE will be great when the software kinks have been worked out
Be carefull these things breed!

I started with two play ones and within a few months had eight, a soundbar and the sub. I did purchase a few years ago when they were all a little cheaper. That said this is the cheapest I have ever seen a Play One!

One of my best buys!

I had the same spotify issue, but an update in the last few days to the Spotify app seemed to sort it
Got mine for £139 from curry’s......

Picked up the Sonos One, looked for a member of staff who looked bored... showed them a link to the ‘Play 1’ at £139 and they price matched instantly

Most 'features' still aren't available with the new one. Incredible how a company could launch a network product that currently isn't compatible with the most popular streaming services.
Would 2 of these be better than a 2.1 sound bar ?
Can I connect two play 1s to a tv ?

It's a rush to market job to compete with Google and Apple and others. I'm sure it will be fixed as it's software issues. The hardware is fine
Got one of these recently, wish I had got one a while ago but my internet wasn't up to the job. Great bit of kit!
Sweeeet, I just ordered one today a few hours ago for the 150 price, just cancelled through amazon and re-ordered. Thanks!

Google Max will be £350-400, not really comparable and from the reviews I've seen so far I'm getting out off the idea of them, sound apparently is very artificial out of them. Hopefully Google can serve up some software tweaks within the app to fix this but the appeal of spending £700+ for a pair has dropped in my desire considerably.

Apple's offering isn't available yet, Google's is aimed higher than the One so I can't see it as being this, more like rushed to market for the busiest selling time.

With an echo dot attached is. That the same as a Sonos one
