Great use of codes wish I was as savvy! I have o2 priority aswell... completely forgot to check!! will update deal.
I believe they just are no longer stocking the starter packs they are still selling the singles.... @ £149 each
Good price tho.
Plenty say 2 x 1''s are better than 1 x 5 for separation etc. Only drawback is less connectivety.
Yeah, I'd forgotten, paid full price and went back later the same day. They were good and refunded the difference!
Thanks very much. Really want to start out woth Sonos but really needs to be 100% wife friendly. Makes my life easier
Cheers.
I'm going to disagree unfortunately. I'm a massive Sonos fan and have it kitted out throughout my house. 2 x Play 1 IMO lacks the bass and can sound a bit soulless in a big room. The single Play 5 (especially the new one) is so much better.
I think if you go 2 x Play 1 with a sub, the separation will come into its own but without it, then the Play 5 wins it.
No need for Ethernet as it can run via wifi. To get tv sound through these I believe you need the playbar which connects via optical cable and connect to the play-1's for surround sound.... (There is probably some fancy way of getting around this...) The play-1's are suitable for music streaming services e.g Spotify
No sound from your TV with these. You need a Playbar or Play:5 for that (I know you can also do it with the connect line of products but the lag is unbearable)
It was a Christmas deal that ended on the 31st December. None left in my local Currys, but it was worth the trip to Doncaster (High St) for this deal.
Thanks for posting.
they are overrated and don't sound great, though for the money they are ok
Its overrated as isheep owners or fashion victims like the look of them, just like this laughably bad devialet speaker/amp
What would be a better product then? By the sounds of it (no pun intended) its simply that they're moving to an individual package arrangement only. I used to have a nice arcam setup but can't be bothered with all the cabling anymore and additionally, ease of use is key (female use mainly)
Thanks
I've never rated them for TV/movie use but that's just me, I think the soundbar/sub and requirement of extra play speakers for other channels makes them poor value for money - I have a dedicated setup for that personally.

Digifunk 3 wireless media streaming devices. £39.99 each. You can connect to them wirelessly with anything including Spotify connect, which is what I use. You then connect these to any speaker or hifi that you wish to access wirelessly.
LEPY 2024a Amplifier £17.99 each. You will only need this part if you are using passive speakers like I am.
Eaudio 120W Ceiling speakers £19.99 / pair

All in all I paid about £330 with all the cables to have my entire house on wireless audio from my phone, pc or tablet. I was advised by everyone that sonos was the only way to do what I was trying to do and they were wrong.
Thank you for sharing, very interesting.
Great I thought, now I can use it...wrong!!!
The next day I tried it another room and nothing as the app on both my phoner and tablet could not find it. I then loaded up the sonos desktop program, and that did actually find the speaker. I started to play a music track to the speaker and nothing, no sound at all.
I am just going to stick with my £78 cheapo wireless speakers that play anywhere inside or even outside.
As for the Play 1 speaker, it's going back.
Maybe you had a faulty one? Can't blame the whole product on your single experience.
I don't have a Sonos system, so cannot vouch for it, but I am in the IT world and thus technical.
Why don't you ask for a replacement and see if that experience is still the same?
This would be the same as buying a brand new Samsung TV for instance and the wireless not working on it, would you say every single Samsung TV is faulty?......
Order a replacement, then see how you feel
Good luck

yes, they work on wireless, however if you want to add a Sub or Surround speakers then you will need a bridge (obsolete) or boost. The Playbar connects to the TV, but make sure the TV outputs 5.1 from the digital optical as most only send out 5.1 from digital freeview, i connect mine direct to the skybox, and when I want to use a DVD player you can either move the cable or use a splitter. this way its 5.1 if the programme is outputting in 5.1.
I have a Playbar and Sub, but I don't need either the bridge or boost
