Sonos Playbase £630 @ Selfridges instore Trafford centre

LocalFound 21st Apr 2017
In Selfridges in the Trafford centre. (Assuming nationwide though)

The guy serving me just heard about the offer less than an hour ago. I can't remember specifically but I'm almost certain it was 10% off anything over £600 in the electrical section.

Fantastic surprise for me about to pay £700!

Can you let me know your thoughts on the playbase. Was thinking of purchasing one to go with my sonos play 1s...

Will do as soon as I get home.
I have a Play 5 in the front room which this will replace. Not sure what to do with that though... seems a bit overkill for a bedroom ha

After luke warm reviews you'd probably be better buying direct from Sonos as they give you a 100 day no quibble refund if you don't like it.
£70 off a new SONOS product that will rarely ever get discounted and -5 degrees. LOL

Brilliant. If anyone can show me where it can be bought cheaper please let me know!

Not at all. I have one in bedroom and one in the kitchen as well lol.
Nice find for a Sonos product that was only launched just over two weeks ago here.

There's another way to take HUKD & that is to vote according to value for money, irrespective of whether it is the cheapest for that particular product. In this respect Sonos in general are very expensive for what you actually get (think similar to the typical Apple 'deals!'). £630 will get you a decent-ish 5.1 system that will sound much better.
Something like: http://www.superfi.co.uk/p-17581-wharfedale-dx1se-51-home-cinema-speaker-system.aspx
Then £200 or so for an amp

Admittedly, not everyone has the room & some wives will bleat on about cables....

I hope it's better than my playbar. Very disappointed with the performance

Weird shape or size room? Ours sounds perfect - replaced a dedicated 5.1 system.
Oblong room with the tv up the corner. Such a narrow soundstage and the midrange lacks authority and gets quite out of shapes with busy soundtracks. Genuinely disappointed that it hasn't lived up to my expectations. It replaced a 5.1 kef egg system though a cheap onkyo amp that is 8 years old and pales in comparison. The music playback isn't as good as a b and w zep I have that cost half the price.

Do you have any other sonos speakers with it? My playbar sounds meh by itself but with the sub and two play 1s its amazing, probably mot what you want to hear!
Hah. Thanks. It's not what I wanted to hear but exactly what I expected. Just not willing to drop another £1000 on it. I think I was just expecting too much. I've lowered my expectations somewhat and can live with it now but certainly wouldn't recommend it. Really wish I'd demoed the Dali now. Thanks for your comment though

the two play ones make a huge difference if you don't want to splash out on the sub. also mess around with the settings in the app. turning the loudness on gives it a lot bigger bass feel I find

I felt the same until I bought the sub. Horrifically expensive for what it is, but as I already had the bar and a pair of play 3's, it was a case of in for a penny, in for (many) pounds.
