I can't understand the hype around these. Don't get me wrong, I love Sonos and have loads of ones and 3's but I just don't get it for AV. For the cost of the sub alone you could get a decent 5.1 kit.

For this, a soundbar and two 1's as rears you're talking £1400. For £1400 you could get a seriously decent AV Amp and something like a Monitor Audio, KEF or Q Acoustics 5.1 set.

Bought online last night for £565

Richer Sounds do a 7 day price promise. If you purchased it in store then go to them and they'll refund the money back onto the card you purchased it on. If you did it online, I presume you'll have to call CS - tell them you would return the sub for a full refund to buy it again rightfully so with the discount code and I'm sure to avoid the hassle they'll just issue the refund instead etc.

Regardless of Richer Sounds' promotional online discount codes, they (a few stores) always provide a discount regardless of the time of year. Just call them and purchase over the phone. I'm not sure if admin will delete this post if I mention which stores - but I can point you into the direction by telling you to go to the Sonos owners UK Facebook page and a certain RS staff on there frequently invites people to call him for discount.

Last BF sale, I got the gen 2 Sonos Sub for £480 brand new with standard 6 year warranty.

Surely Sonos at some point will launch a smaller cheaper version

Does this have to be ordered over the phone then?
I called up telesales and had no problem with them processing it

Sonos sub IS the neighbour friendly version of a regular subwoofer.
Can anyone else confirm if this code is actually valid? At £515 it might be too good an offer not to pull the trigger
Soooo want to buy this but must resist!!

Telesales said that the code doesn’t work on Sonos products either
oh man, was just about to call up...

Agree, love sonos but it is expensive. Wouldn’t go for the set up if I didn’t buy it all pre price hike....

My thoughts exactly. This stinks of trading off the brand name.

I agree but isn't that what most companies do? Apple are a prime example
Have to agree. Bought 8 play:1’s, a couple of 3’s, the sound bar and the sub. Love it all, but sent the sub back. Not worth half the RRP. “Sub”standard for the price, you could say

You’re correct, but my wife (like many others I assume) will not have a traditional AV set up as she hates ‘speakers’, so I’ve bought a Sonos Beam which will be paired with a couple of Ikea Sonos Symphonisk lamps as rears. Might not be as good, but it keeps the mrs happy and is ‘good enough’... for now

To a point yes but this to me is baffling when it's not exactly hard to set up a surround system which apart from the amp isn't going to take up anymore room but with loads more functionality.

Never been a fan of oblong (thin) subs with multiple cones, square box with decent sized cone, nothing clever!

Plenty of artistic speakers around now.....or in ceiling. No excuse

I have a beam and 2 play 1s. Cost total of £550. No wires anywhere, don't take up much room at all, nothing overly loud to annoy the neighbours, alexa built in. Of course you can get better speakers with an amp. But it doesn't mean it will suit everyone.

I agree the sub has always been far too expensive. But they are supposedly making a cheaper one.

Try setting up a seperate 5.1 system with the TV in the corner of the room.... you'll then understand why a soundbar at the front makes more sense.

I swapped my kef 3005se 5.1 for sonos when I moved house and dont have any regrets.

I also got rid of my b&w 685 hifi setup as the sonos sounded better due to its placement in the room.

If you get the all around this time you can have all of that package which you mentioned for a tad over £1000 which isn’t ‘as’ bad but still expensive.

apart from power cables! For me I'd be trading tiny speaker cables for the chunky black power cables going to the Sonos speakers...

I've never quite got my head around the idea of switching to Sonos for AV, I have an amp that my BluRay player, Switch, Amazon Fire 4k stick and laptop plug into, and then from the amp is just 1 HDMI cable to the TV... if I was to move to a Sonos setup I'd have to have all of those cables going to the TV and one coming out from the TV to the Sonos Beam wouldn't I?

I'm not even convinced I NEED one when the PlayBar seems to be plenty enough. I realise this would definitely add more bass. But I've yet to watch anything and think, "Hmm, wish I had more bass right now".

Until you get a sub and you realise what's been missing. It changes watching films and appreciating music ten fold. I had the Playbase for a year before I got the sub.

In that case I'll avoid RS and Currys demo areas
Are these worth it for adding to Sonos ones purely for music?
I called telesales and they said there is no such offer to reduce the price by£50
Also, this guy called “Chris” said that the code is not for Sonos sub!!

If you have the spare cash, I would say yes. I have the Playbar with 2 x play 1’s as surrounds and the sound is really good for music, very nice bass. The sub would take it to the next level and I’ve wanted one for years but the price always puts me off. One day perhaps, when I’ve sold one of the kids - the one that eats the most obviously.
Edited by: "lightwavin" 6th Dec 2019
to me these are a rip off. I have a beam and two ones as surround but just to add more bass (it already has a reasonable amount) is stupid money. I would rather spend the money on a holiday. The price is off kilter just to add bass.

Yep most definitely. Iv got playbar x2 play 1's and the sub music, movies gaming is on point

I does make a difference. Obviously it takes the job of bass away from the speaker. Much fuller sound and bass.

If you want to get it from Richer Sounds take a copy of the web page in and they should price match and give you an extra £10 off making it £489
