Paid about this for it 5 years ago. Lovely speaker when paired with the playbar and some play 1s well worth it if you already have the other speakers

Thanks. I’ve got a beam and 2 x ones gen2 surrounds. Thoroughly recommend.
Good price for great bit of kit.
It's about time this was discounted. I've been waiting for ages. Still not tempted to pull the trigger yet though
ooooh so tempting at this price, maybe if it was £499

It's totally worth it if you like listening to music on your system... Expensive but it improves the sound so much

I was hoping for the same from sonos Black Friday deal of £599 plus student discount code 15%. Unfortunately they took discount off of the £699 price. Decided to go for it and have one less night out.

Some are asking more used on eBay. Sonos are asking same price for refurbished.

I’ve Playbar connected to TV and a Play 5 in living room. Play TV through Playbar and music through both Playbar and Play 5 downstairs (also have a Play 3 upstairs).

Thinking of getting Sub and a pair of Play Ones for TV and music playback in living room (doing away with Play 5). Would you recommend?
Is it just me or does anyone think this is still an insane price for a subwoofer?

If you want surround them absolutely. I have a proper home theatre system also and I thoroughly enjoy watching tv and movie’s with the sonos beam and 2 x ones in surround mode.

I'd say get the play 1s for sure, they help add a bit of bass to the playbar and movies sound great with them and you can probably get them for less than 300 at the moment, doesn't even have to be the new ones as you don't need Alexa on them they all sound the same. Then see if you think you need the sub afterwards, really improves music if you listen to a lot

It's insane, at this level new Sonos Amp looks much better. Shame it doesn't have a central channel.

Go through Quidco for a potential 2% cash back too. Getting closer to £499

I do love Sonos but when I was looking at the bar for a home theatre I was a bit underwhelmed. I went with a Denon amp, and wharfdale speakers and sub that sound great and then just connected up a Sonos connect for a lot less money.

The best I’ve seen the sub at was £429, but it wad when RRP was £599. I got the Playbar for that, just wish I got the sub too. Where’s a time machine when you need one!

Sorry. Looks like richer sounds have cottoned on to this extra discount. It was £50 off subwoofers over £400. Have checked and can confirm not working now. Code is supposed to be valid for another 5 days. Glasgow store aware of code and will manually include discount. Call your local store and hopefully they’ll do the same.

How can you compare the sub to the amp? That makes no sense....

I'm comparing overall setup and possible quality of sound. Sonos amp (new) has a subwoofer out, so you can connect any powered sub eg for £150-300. And it will be way more powerful. Plus add good passive speakers.

And this does make sense

As someone who loves bass and a Sonos lover with all the products I would recommend 2 x Play 1s and the Soundbar instead (not the Beam) for the same price. The Play 1s will deliver enough bass once you configure them with the sound bar. The sound will be excellent, if you can afford the Sub also go for it for the full whack but if it’s a dilemma between the Soundbar or Sub to complement 2 Play 1s I would recommend the Soundbar.

The only caveat to this is if you really want thundering bass, but be warned the sub can be overkill in many environments. As I always also advise, the sub should only ever be bought if you live in a stand alone house. Unless you want to fall out with neighbours deffo not one for flats or even semi detached houses!

But the person you replied to was complaining that the sub was expensive... your suggestion to buy the sonos amp and connect a seperate sub would be almost double the price...

I would just get another play 5 to complete you surround sound. And always add the sub if you feel the need. Although i have playbar with 2 play 1s in my living room. And a play5 in the kitchen. If i got another play 5 i think i would swap the 5s with the 1s

I would agree with this. I have the playbar, 2 play ones and a sub and to be honest I think I could live without the sub.. it does sound better, but unless you can crank up the volume really loud and dont have any neighbours you dont really need it.
Love this sub but wouldn’t pay the full whack for it if you can do without it. Was lucky enough to get this at almost £400 back before Sonos hiked up their prices and when they offered discount codes for you and a friend.

What is cost of sonos' fronts?
Amp will allow to connect good passive speakers, that will bit playbar or beam easily (under £200-300)

Actually, was tempted to buy beam today, but having thought that I'll inevitably will want a sub, plus good stereo separation, decided to postpone

I know what you’re saying. On the flip side you cannot underestimate the convenience factor of a completely clean installation with no wiring running around the room. The beam has good stereo separation as there are 5 active speakers and 3 passive radiators facing forward with one left and one right pointing out at 90 degrees. So not all speakers are pointing forward aiding in the wide dispersion of the audio. I have a traditional system in home theatre room and could never get away with that in our living room so I’ve have beam, ones and just ordered sub. remember sonos does a 100 day trial with full refund so relatively risk free to try out. This includes even if you choose all or more that I have. Good luck.

Go through store direct and mention SUB50 code. Code still active for another 5 days.
Just got this. With the 6 year coverage added to the 50 off (currently 100 off rrp anyway) its a great deal from a quality firm - good to deal with.

Do you have a link to their website where it mentions about the discount? I would like to show it while in sore buying sub
I found the code online search. Richer Sounds discount code. It came up with the code and I used it. When I entered the code it came up £50 off £400 plus subwoofer. I tried getting a better deal in store VIP member and they said they were aware of the code, 5 days left and would honour if I bought from them but not beat price. Call your local store. Good luck
