This isn't the same TV as the one at John Lewis - the one at JL is better (it has Freeview HD, 1080p, Bravia Engine 3 and DLNA). The one at Play is Freeview SD, 720p, BE2, and no DLNA.....

Not a great TV but a good price for a Sony-Voted HOT

Seems they're all trying to offload the stock without Freeview HD built in - because pretty soon nobody will want a TV without.

I won't vote hot. £299 seems to becoming the standard price for a HD ready TV from a good brand name. Argos are doing a similar specced Samsung for the same price.

Think I'm looking for £280 or less for such a TV these days for a true bargain.

Certainly not a bad price, though.

This isnt such a great deal - I would now want full HD at this price

I'm not seeing this £350 Sony with HD tuner in it on the john lewis website.

I'll never want freeview, SD, HD or even 3D. i'm quite content with my Sky+HD thanks...

I'd want a 55" 3D LED TV but it ain't gonna happen kid. £299 is a crackin' price for a brand new TV model from Sony.

Even Tesco have this at £299 (+ double Clubcard points), as do John Lewis (out of stock tho!) with a 5 year warranty. (and as someone else pointed out, Amazonhave same TV too!)

Cold from me, because the other two above are better.

John Lewis:

..from SAINSBURYS there's a £25 voucher claim at the same price in store (and over the last weekend triple nectar points)..I'm not sure these days the 5 yr guarantee is really worth that much (unless of course it goes wrong after 366 days)

same price in Comet

Is a good price for a Sony, but the stumbling block is it's only 720p

comet discount code 5199AW.. just order to collect instore or get delivered (free after 5days) and get it for £284.05.

Yeah - you continue to pay the price of this TV to Rupert Murdoch every three months and we'll be quite content to continue to laugh at you.

Not worth it. cold.

Samsung are not in the same league which is why they alwayy cost less.

quick question...'USB Media Player' - does this mean that you can plug an external hard drive into it and play divx, mp3, etc?

I tried this TV out recently in JL and it played my divx movies fine on my 500 gb hdd. The problem is they quality of the Freeview SD is appalling - you have been warned. By the way the £350 model was not Freeview HD 2 weeks ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Sony TVs used Samsung panels actually. While I'll admit Sony are a better brand, they are hardly leagues apart. As with any Sony product, you pay a premium for the name.

Vote Cold! I got my 40EX403U + 5 years warranty last weekend for £499 =)

You pay a premium for the name but do you even get a better product? Sony make rubbish like everyone else - just more expensive rubbish to be lapped up by the gullible.

At 32 inches you won't be able to see any difference between 720p or 1080p unless your nose is virtually touching the screen.

This is an amazing deal and those voting cold are idiots.

So how near do you have to be to a 50" one, bearing in mind that it's about 50% bigger in each dimension?
