i thjink this one seems better

However in the independant reviews i was reading, people were complaining this not BBC IPlayer yet?

V tempted to buy sonce the 403 with 5 yr warrenty are all gone

will this work with ethernet - LAN, or only via a wireless dongle?

Original Poster

i did a quick google search samk06 and they say the NX model has Monolithic design and built in WiFi although in this model it says its wifi ready......so im guessing you will need to buy the sony wireless dongle for the tv to make it wireless but does have a ethernet port on the back of it to hardwire

how much is the quidco on this as i dont have a clue how it works or what it is really lol

might be 8% with woolthworths too. if so v hot deal

Ok both the EX 403 and this are the same bare bones tv sets . They both do the same thing and have the same specs. However the design form on this one is supposed to be more pleasing on the eye hence why most sites sell it for more.

This one from VERY will get you 10% off with a new account and probably Quidco so a scorcher of a deal however the JL 403 gives a 5 year warranty.

I bought the JL 403 but may change my mind ......

Just ordered. Spec on Sony site looks excellent- I like the smooth design:

sony.co.uk/pro…res

£275 from Very after quidco (always tracks for me from there). Ideal for my bedroom at this price and will hopefully be able to link up to my home network with a little bit of effort.

I would rather take a punt on the 403 from JL than buy anything from this mob.

Same TV inside. Styling is nice but very reflective and can be very annoying as a result.

sid and sloaman i dont see the 403 @ john lewis... a link would be nice

403 sold out in richer souds / john lewis

does woolworths 8% on this track ?

not on JL any more but in store and at RicherSounds for £299. Go and look at it - nice cabinet design but far too reflective.

richer sounds are also sold out in store on the 403

Thanks OP - ordered - didn't like the look of the EX403 - hopefully this looks as good as it does in the pictures.

P.S. price should include delivery of £3.95.

Looks good

Very just tracked at £23.92.

This Wifi Bridge device is a cheaper way of getting wireless internet on the box:

you've called every branch in the country have you?

My cousin picked one up from one of the London branches a few hours ago having seen mine and they had more!

As I've said before, aesthetically the NX wins, visually the EX does - IMO!

I use homeplugs at the moment for part of my home network and will probably buy another and just plug an ethernet cable into the ethernet port. This should be a cheaper and more stable option for the internet tv stuff and for streaming videos etc.

Forget wifi for streaming, transmission over cable is the way to do it (ethernet ideally, homeplug as a second option)

the 403 is still available instore with JOHN LEWIS

This one is more expensive originally. Looks much better and 8% quidco

If there is a way to get the 5years warranty from sony i ll gladly return the one from JL

does anyone know if quidco is payed for items bought on a buy now pay later?

All true. Except the picture on the EX403 is better as the glass panel reflects too much on the NX IMO - I compared the two side by side, set up identically.

403 is 50hz
503 is 100hz

so not identical tv's inside

£399 for the 40" version from woolworths

If we were comparing EX to EX, that would be true, but that's not what I (or Sloaman) said. NX503 (the model this thread is about) is 50Hz. Guts are the same as an EX403.

NX7xx and upward are 100Hz for sure (there may be intermediate models, I don't know, I'm saying what I know from my research when I bought the EX403 over an NX503).

got the 40inch

Here is a comparison of the 32inch EX403, EX503 and NX503.

And the reflection puts me right off this TV especially in the day time.

was gonna cancel ex403 from JL order and get this til i saw this youtube.com/wat…ted, looks nice but can't stand the reflection.

Well I've ordered this as the 10% off and 8% Quidco brought it down to just over £250, which is a hot hot bargain.

Damn, this site makes me spend too much money

Sooo tempted but need to save..... Hmmm

A good review here for the 40 inch version priced at £399:

Sony 40NX503 Review

Stunning value condsidering the 32inch and 40inch were retailing for between £700 to £950

the EX model is better since it is 100hz, this is the only difference between the two. Spend 80 more and by the EX version at Aamazon. Any techy and gamer will tell you that 100hz or over is a must for a TV for a true viewing experience.
