I'm ringing my local Sony Centre tommorow!

BTW Portchy, where did you get the details of the offer from?

I can't even find the v4000 on the sony centre site.

Wow what an amazing deal

Take a look at :
sonystyle.co.uk/Son….do

Your figures are wrong. The 40 inch one with a free Blue Ray is the KDL40V4S300TN.YG @ £899. Still good - but not so good.

The KDL40V3000U is selling at £699 with NO Blue ray.

So the deal is not great - sorry. You might like to edit the deal.

I assume this deal is instore only?

Has anyone actually seen this deal? Sounds too good to be true.

Almost certainly is but need confirmation from OP as to where he got the deal info from or what Sony Centre store.

Not seen it but heard it on my local radio staion ( Trent FM)

I can't locate any info about this deal on their website.

I think alot of HD TV prices are coming down now as retailers and manufacturers gear up for FreeviewHD models with full HD.

also the Sony BDPS350 model is out next month and I heard from one review the Sony BDPS300 was rushed out by sony hence the poor load/startup times.

Maybe a combination of the two is encouraging Sony to clear these 2 products in prep for updated version next month.

Great price though & great find with that long warranty. Would certainly do till freeviewHD is released widescale along a broad spectrum of channels.

HOT!

I didn't think the Sony BDP S350 was available yet

Isn't this the deal that Debenhams are offering, posted elsewhere yesterday?

could try this from comet, not a bad deal, the tv and player for £750
comet.co.uk/sho…000

This is the same deal as the Debenhams one ... however this deal is incorrect as the 5 free blu-ray disk's has expired ...

sony used to send you them once you have registered your blu-ray online with them ...

Original Poster

this deal is correct!!!! i work for sony an if you check my previous posts they are mainly sony deals, the blu ray movies are valid till the end of the month and you get the player!!!, it was at £799 but we reduced it friday, mainly cus we are getting the new kdlv4500 and bdps350 soon so want to shift old stock, this is available in sony centres only, store number is ***** which is my branches number an we can put you onto your nearest store, *** lol

Got any links showing these upcoming FreeviewHD (PVR?) capable HDTVs?
Will they be out in time for Christmas 2008?
When is FreeviewHD due to go live?

Me. Nope. Just what I read in reviews and such. Kinda common knowledge now that prices are comming down because of this. Panasonic brought their freeviewHD tv out first. Others are following suit. And 32inch screen are now gonna be full HD as standard so some of the lesser HD models will be going cheap and falling in prices. As for freeviewHD official releases are dodgy. Will need a seperate box to view (or built in). But still uses freeview air space or something. So a few freeview channels are being dropped to first accomadate 4 HD channels on freeview. As much as I have read thus far. Details are still sketchy to say the least.

Hmmmmmmm, I've been semi tempted by all these 37-42" HDTVs 1080p's @ £500-£800+, but willing to wait until 2009 as I'm happy with my current HDTV. FreeviewHD for 4 channels doesn't interest me if I'm honest, I had V+ for over a year and have SkyHD now. ITV1 seems to be the only so called "benefit" HD wise on Freesat and it's inevitable they'll get into bed with Murdoch eventually anyway.

Personally I was hoping for a technology for LCDs which would bridge to plasma's in terms of blackness, albeit that is mostly addressed now I think, brightness/colour depth I'm not so sure and for this technology to be appearing soon and explaining the new low prices, affordable OLED 37-42" 1080p's within next 18months I think is wishful thinking unfortunately.

I've been looking at tvs for so long, I'm certain I'm never going to end up getting one.:-D
I agree schizoboy, blackness levels in LCDs have improved however by in large still don't close to certain plasmas. At the 500-800 price point. No point even thinking about affordable OLEDs until closer to the Olympics over here

I was actually referring to the Title; I'm sure it was the S350 that was posted as being included in package deal. [/SIZE]

There are two entirely different systems competing in the free-to-air HD transmission space - Freesat HD and Freeview HD.

The Panasonic model referred to receives FreeSat HD using a dish just like Sky. Televisions capable of receiving Freeview HD through your aerial are just emerging, one of these being the ]Sony KDL40W4000.

tempted to have this in my bedroom!

£800 at the Lincoln Sony Centre.

how about bluewater?

Yep, not sure how widespread this deal is - £799 at Falkirk Sony Centre, movie offer expired on Friday.

Strange its not TV + Bluray Player + 5yr Warranty for £699.99 at all Sony Centres like the OP said.

not really, they do whatever they fancy at each store depending on their stock take etc;-)

Just rang Wakefield, they have 8 in stock, and selling them at 899, I mentioned this site, and the guy went 'oh, they are 899 here'

well seeing as the original poster has been suspended, lol, do you think we should take this with a pinch of salt?

I've just spoken to a few of the sony centres and i beleive it's the same offer as debenhams because its the same company that owns sertain stores...

Sonex sound and vision owne the participating debenhams .... they also own about 25 sony centres aswell ... so i imagine it's those stores that are participating in the same offer !

bromley are offering it at £799

£899 in Cardiff

they will do it for £749 with 5yrs warranty tho once bartered with other stores.

I can confirm that the Sony Centre at Trafford Centre are doing this deal as the OP stated for £699!

I know because I just came from there with the TV, Bluray Player and 5yr Warranty

But no discs....

I got this deal but 3 year warranty, not 5 year, for £699 from Sony Centre Cheltenham.

Really didn't put up much of a fight when I explained that Debenhams had this deal.

Not too concerned about the other deals flying around, they are always going to fall in price but effectively £550 for a KDL40V4000 inc. 3 years warranty is a billy bargain!

The W4000 doesn't do FreeSat or Freeview HD I didn't think - not mentioned on ANY of the reviews I looked at.
