This is the cheapest I've seen this tv and they actually have it in stock at most stores! You also get a £50 voucher then you purchase the tv, this really helped when buying extra glasses etc

Contracts for your new purchase I think it's not a national deal though so consider yourself lucky

Congrats*

This TV RETAILS at £999 (John Lewis, Currys, etc). Some online places do it even cheaper. The deal is that he got £50 vouchers. If you go in-store to Currys you can use an O2 Priority discount on it too.

Also, don't forget to put the 5 year Sony Warranty in your title (same as JL, Richersounds, etc)

I've only just started using this site and I'm not entirely sure how to edit my post? (I'm using the iOS app)

It did come with the 5 year warranty also.

I had originally ordered the tv in john Lewis and was told I had to wait two weeks for it to be delivered. This was bought in Kingston, I was told by a member of staff that the offer is national but he could have got it wrong. Just got it home and setup! Really pleased with it, seems like a great tv if your looking for something that is future proof etc

Ha! Yeah, we were a little worried we would have to get a taxi or something but we managed to get it into out 2003 Vauxhall corsa! SO! ...if anybody is worried about taking a 49" tv home in a corsa then worry no more as it fits like a very tight glove!

Enjoy your 4k TV . I just wish there was more content for it.

Nothing is future proof

Nothing is future proof

In the same way that "idiot proof" is seen as a challenge by some.

Nice telly, I'm between this and the Samsung 48hu7500 at the minute but prices are coming down due to new models soon

I just bought a new Gopro, shoots in 4k (handy when editing in 1080). So make your own content. I doubt 4k is going to take off anytime soon, look at 3d, only about 400 films available

I bought the Sony 3 weeks ago via JL and I think it's a great looking / performing TV, some very slight lip sync issues but I'm getting used to it. Only a couple of channels involved and it seems to be the broadcast more than the TV or Yamaha amp I'm using. The Samsung 7500 was my first choice but it was so popular at Xmas it went out of stock very quickly, so opted for the Sony when it became available just over 3 weeks ago.

TV is worth more than the car. Cool

Pimp my ride, even cool when its in the original packaging

I was a bit worried going for this size tv instead of the 55 inch but I love it and it has made every thing look better than the Sony I replaced which was not a bad tv

No way was it a corsa, I guess if they back seats are down then you have more of a chance. Still can't imagine a corsa being big enough.

I believe it's a Corsa as a 49" TV isn't that big

My first thought on seeing the photo was "it's the rozzers, go, go, GO!"

Is it worth paying the extra for this ,over a full HD, its mostly for movies.

If you're a Netflix customer then it isn't too bad and expect plenty more coming this year and don't forget that top end models do a decent upscaling of HD signals from current sources.

Absolutely!

My Amazon Prime App has also just updated and there's 43 movies and series available now from them in UHD too, some free with prime, some rentable and some for purchase only (still a stream, nothing physical yet).

I was stuck between Samsung and Sony. From being shown the two side by side, the colours and image clarity were much better on the Sony. The only main positive I saw for the Samsung is the smart tv part as it has 4od etc... No need to worry if you havea ps or Xbox though.

Since owning the tv for a few days, we've watched a couple of blu Rays and streamed some 4k footage from Netflix. We have been really impressed by the step up in quality on blu Rays, admittedly, our previous tv wasn't the best he ready screen but from watching wall-e and guardians of the Galaxy on this Sony tv, I can't even imagine an image being clearer!

P.s we did juggle between new car and new t.v but I won that argument! Ha! Car is the next thing on the list. Maybe we'll get something bigger so we are prepared for the next tv!

Good find. I'm looking to get a 4k TV as well. Had my eye on this model, but might just wait for the new 4k tv's to hit first in a few months time. Although if a good deal of this in the 55 inch variety comes up, i might just go for it. Apart from a impressive picture quality, I've read it supports HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2, which should potentially make it good for playing 4k blue-rays in the future.

Anyone else think this 4k is bobbins? I was in Richer sound the other day watching some Avengers movie, and the picture was that clear it actually made the film look worse. The Hulk was 10x clearly superimposed (yes I know he isn't an actor!) and the costumes and make up etc just made me think the film was an absolute joke. Sure it wouldn't have been half as bad in 1080p!
