Sony 49XE8004. use code TV10 for 10% off the £649 price.
Only Motionflow 100hz compared to the 400hz of the XE8396 but this is the only difference for a difference in price of £170ish (currys current price with promo)
i would compromise the motionflow rate for this saving.
Cheapest price for this model.

Doesn't everyone turn off picture processing nonsense like motionflow anyway?

If that’s the case then that makes this an even better bargain.

Trying to find an OK budget TV for gaming is a headache, input lag, motion rate, 50 or 60 htz... I feel like am going crazy. Would anyone recommend this for gaming?

Any issues with screen banding, darker patches on screen during fast movement i.e FIFA?

49ex8396 is £749 in currys (£100 off marked price of £849)

I’m so confused 😭
I can’t decide if I should bite for something like this or shell out around £850 (?) for the Samsung KS8000 which has great reviews but I wasn’t overly impressed when seeing it.
Or do I pay even more £1199ish for the Sony XE9005 or Samsung Q7 which I thought both looked fantastic but are double the money of something like this
Mostly used for gaming or movies I suppose.

I'm in the same TV dilemma as everyone else and it's driving me mad. I can imagine that these TVs are probably 10 times better than the one I've got. I had my hopes pinned on the 43" version but after reading reviews the blacks are not black enough, no dimming for HDR, android not powerfull enough and to cap it all off last years model was better due to it having an X1 processor. I would probably love it though but would always have my doubts.

Has an average input lag of around 34ms. So not the best for gaming. However you get what you pay for. Its a good price for what you get. Contrast levels are good for the budget, so the HDR (8 bit + FRC) is about right, but no local dimming. Also has an IPS panel, good viewing angles, but lacks some colour and contrast compared to VA panels. Plus isn't great on reflections.
All being said, excellent picture quality on all resolutions with decent motion.
Like I said, good for the money.
This info is from Rtings, with specs from Display Specs and some of my own understanding.
With Black Friday around the corner and the Hughes Tech Show this weekend, I would hold for a bit. I am currently looking for a TV for my boy for his room for movies and the one X. The only TV that stands out for quality and budget is the Samsung 40" MU6400, the other sizes although bigger, aren't as good in spec.

49 inch is a really tricky area to find value. The Sony XE9005 (I own it) is undoubtedly the best but it's also the priciest

same here. I've ended up buying a Phillips 49 inch ambient lighting tv. it's great for gaming no input lag and ambient lighting gives it the extra touch.

I think he means the additional 10% code. Of which I would bite the bullet aswell if someone else doesn't need theirs lol.

Yep I'd hope so, I've not seen any picture processing that ever solves a problem that isn't made worse by turning on the enhancement to start with!

Which additional code? I’ve never managed to get codes to stack on the Argos site

I believe a batch of people received 10% off codes due to a lot of orders being cancelled. That's what I've gathered anyway. No idea what deal it was though. I read that someone managed to get them to stack somewhere aswell.

great price at £650, fantastic at £585. I thought I got a good deal for £750 a couple of months ago.

My review - great picture, slow wifi and Android can be laggy.

Are all the Sony TVs laggy with android? It's kind of putting me off them as I've read that a few times now. The one I'm particularly interested in is the KD49XE9005BU but if I'm honest I've been swinging from one side of the spectrum to the other numerous times. I just want a spectacular deal to come arround and make my mind up for me lol

As you have this set, could you confirm at approximately what angle off dead centre the contrast starts to fail? There are one or two Sony TVs that are okay, but most (like mine) are useless past about 30 degrees either way. I found one site which carries out a real life review including viewing angle, but it's American based with different model numbers and a bit out of date. Thanks in advance daedos.

I can confirm that the codes did stack. The code in question was from a mispriced xbox one s at 89.99.

Code expired. If anybody has got a spare 10% code from the xbox s fiasco, it would be much appreciated

EDIT : Spoke to Argos and told them the code wasn't working, and they took 10% off anyway.

I can't notice any drop-off, the off-centre performance and vibrancy was one of the attractions of the set.

Will John Lewis price match?

Code expired

Code anyone that will work please
