Good price for this huge TV. Won't suit everyone, of course, but fine if screen real-estate is all you're after!

Voted hot.

Thanks thekanester

I was looking at this when I got mine 2 years ago.

It's not that good spec wise - try go for an Sagem HD-D50 - similar priced 2 years ago, would expect the same now

gets cracking reviews

my guess is though that rear projections just arn't sexy enough theses days

I love 50'' LCD flat telly, however, it's the worst idea for house hopper - me. I reckon it's so much heavier than 47kg (me).

I didn't think this tv was out 2 years ago? a thread on the avforums is talking about the release of this tv in late 2006.

Mind you, by the sounds of it the previous model was pretty much the same.

Very tempted here, almost got it last time around. Just worried about the black levels. Some people slag off the 3lcd RPTVs (in favour of the DLP ones)

Thanks for all the feedback on this, and that very useful link Bags

LOVE to get this but i dont have freeview in my area for another 5 years! so good for 360 and dvd and as an ornament i guess

This has now sold. I'm well gutted cos this is the sort of TV my OH is after:-(

Does anyone know of anywhere else you can get these 50" tvs from?

Try Makro mate

I got the Sagem HD-D50 for 1k, they were selling then cheap as Sagem stopped making them so would be surprised if you could be found any cheaper. This looks like a cracking deal though - hot!

Keep checking the site - Bargain Crazy are well known for finding a couple of extras at the back of the warehouse. Seriously.

Got mine today. Just in case it pops up again, unlike its description, it does come with built-in freeview (the one I got was a 2010, but I think the 2000 is just the US version of the 2010 (?)). Blacks are a little off, but no worse than a 1200:1 LCD. Colour reproduction is pretty impressive. Overall image quality is very good apart from the blacks issue. Freeview looks great, much better than my previous 40" lcd.

Overall good. I'm still finding it hard getting used to LCD style blacks, but hey.

Try a setup disc like DVE, you won't get perfect blacks but i'm very happy with mine after spending the time setting it up.

Where could I get one of those discs? Are there any that can be downloaded and burned for free? (an open source one or something?)

Improving black appearance would be great since otherwise the picture seems pretty great.

don't know about a free one but have a hunt around for digital video essentials and you might find it cheap

Just out of interest, what settings do you use now you've calibrated it? they'd be good to try out whilst i'm scouting for one of these DVDs!
