Our 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme™ includes powerful real-time image processing for ultra detailed pictures. Images are upscaled closer to true 4K HDR quality.

OLED TV
True reality comes to life with deep black and natural colour. Over 8 million self-illuminating pixels are precisely and individually controlled by the 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme™. Sony's 4K OLED HDR TV creates exquisite, unprecedented contrast.

Acoustic Surface Audio™
Unlike most TV speakers, sound comes to you from the entire screen, immersing you in exciting new entertainment experiences. It's picture and sound in perfect harmony.

Transform your viewing with Dolby Vision™
Bring scenes to life with striking highlights, deeper darks and vibrant colours. Dolby Vision™ is an HDR solution that creates an immersive, engaging cinematic experience in your home.

TRILUMINOS™ Display: Extra colours, extra brilliance
See vivid real world colours all around you. A TRILUMINOS™ Display maps from a wider palette, faithfully reproducing every shade and hue in the umbrellas.

Beautiful from any angle
A clean, minimalist design keeps you focused on what's important - the picture.[FN|Actual look may differ depending on TV size.]

Ideal soundbar position
Rotate the stand 180° and it will rise up so you can easily display your soundbar. The stand blends harmoniously with the beautifully designed TV and doesn't compromise your viewing experience.

Cables concealed, neat and tidy
Keep cables neatly hidden in the stand and held in place with the supplied cable holder.[FN|Actual look may differ depending on the type of cable used and TV size.]

Say what you want to see with voice search
Spend less time browsing, and more time watching. Voice search on Android TV™ provides you with the power of Google search, allowing you to find content across different services without the hassle of time-consuming text entry. You can also get recommendations; asking for “romantic comedies” for example, brings up a list of suitable options.

Make smart even smarter
You can ask your Google Assistant to find your favourites. It’s truly effortless and offers the ultimate viewing experience. Control your Sony TV™ and other connected devices using your voice - there’s no smarter way to run your life.[FN|Simulated UI. App availability varies by region and device. Works with Alexa
Connect your Alexa enabled devices for seamless hands-free control of a Sony TV. With Alexa, you can power up your TV, change channels, control volume and more.

Connect with Google Home
Connect Google Home for seamless hands-free control of a Sony TV. With Google Home, you can find and cast your favourite videos to your Sony TV, without lifting a finger.

Object-based HDR remaster
With Object-based HDR remaster, the colour in individual objects on screen is analysed and the contrast adjusted, unlike most TVs where contrast is only adjusted along one black-to-white contrast curve. Because objects are remastered individually, this TV can reproduce greater depth, textures and more realistic pictures.

Super Bit Mapping HDR
There are thousands of tones, shades and gradations of light in a sunset. Super Bit Mapping HDR reveals them. It creates smooth, natural 4K TV picture quality as you watch, without the “banding” that can occur on other TVs.

Dual database processing
One database is used to clean the picture, reducing on-screen noise. The other is used to upscale the resolution, improving clarity. These two powerful image improvement databases work together, dynamically improving pixels in real time. Each database has tens of thousands of references, amassed from our experience creating content for TV and movies over the years.

Rediscover the detail with 4K X-Reality™ PRO
With 4K X-Reality™ PRO, every image is upscaled closer to true 4K quality for remarkable clarity. Images are sharpened and refined in real time, revealing extra detail in the books and architecture of the library.

Motionflow™ XR keeps the action smooth
Enjoy smooth and sharp details even in fast-moving sequences with Motionflow™ XR. This innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones. It compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences. Some models also include black-frame insertion for a blur-free and truly cinematic look.

Chromecast built-in: Plays nice with your other devices
BRAVIA™ is Chromecast built-in so you can easily cast your favourite entertainment like YouTube™ or Netflix from your personal device on to the stunning BRAVIA™ screen.[FN|Chromecast built-in compatibility dependent on app.] You can cast from Android™, iOS™, or your laptop.

Google Play™: A world of content and apps
Discover movies and TV shows, games and much more from Google Play™. Enjoy a huge and ever-growing choice of apps[FN|Apps must be compatible with TV.]on your TV in a brand new way.

Clear Phase for smooth, balanced frequencies
BRAVIA™ uses a powerful computer model to analyse and compensate for inaccuracies in speaker response. It does this by ‘sampling’ the speaker frequency with higher precision. This information is fed back to cancel out any peaks or dips in the speaker’s natural response – resulting in pure, natural audio with smooth, even reproduction of all frequencies.

Cinematic S-Force Front Surround
Enjoy an immersive soundstage that pulls you into the heart of the action. S-Force Front Surround mimics the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum – using only left and right speaker channels. By naturally emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you’ll enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.

Bluetooth connectivity
Connect BLUETOOTH® compatible devices to your TV for easy wire free entertainment. Pair your Bluetooth headphones or earphones with BRAVIA and enjoy TV shows and music in your favourite place - without any disturbances or interruptions.[FN|Please check product specification for details of Bluetooth profile support.][FN|Interoperability and compatibility among Bluetooth® devices vary.

Turn your TV into a digital recorder: USB HDD REC
Store your favourite TV shows on an external USB hard disk drive to enjoy whenever you want. USB HDD REC allows one-touch and timer recording of a digital broadcast onto any USB HDD device up to 2TB in capacity. While viewing the show, simply press REC to start recording, which will automatically stop at the end of the programme.[FN|HDD recording (REC) and Satellite features are not available if YouView functionality is enabled.]

IR Blaster – control everything with one remote
The Infra-red (IR) Blaster lets you control other devices in your home from your Sony TV remote. You can use it to control your Set-top box (cable box) with the TV remote controller.

YouView: the best of catch-up and on-demand TV
With YouView built-in, you can scroll back up to seven days to watch shows from BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and Demand 5. You can also access an extensive library of on-demand content. Simply connect your BRAVIA™ to an aerial and broadband connection to get started with YouView.

Lol. Obviously an LG fanboy.

I've got the LG oled but if you get the 5 year warranty added on its a great price .
Would of gone for the Sony 65 oled myself but Costco want another 300 extra over the 65b9.
I think this Sony has better picture than the LG but it's priced higher .

The main reason to choose an LG over a Sony or Panasonic is if you use it with a gaming PC. The Japanese just do image processing a little better.
They all produce stunning tv's, depends what's more important to you.
LG has the advantage of producing all the oled panels so they can sell their TV's at a more competitive price than Sony, pany.

Anyone who says any of them are "junk" is an idiot.

So does the LG have less lag if used for gaming but the Sony/Panasonics have better images?
nice deal
Ohh, good deal. Didn't know about this site, could be tempted by the 55xf9005 refurb at £549 :/

The LG's input lag is as quick as a gaming monitor 14ms! Not only that but if you use it with a gaming pc with certain graphics cards it is also gsync compatible.

Sony's input lag is fine with a PS4 Pro or xbox @4k (31ms) but it's not so good with the standard PS4 @1080p (48ms). I've read the average gamer won't notice input lag under 50ms.

It's splitting hairs between these oleds really, the picture is going to be stunning on all of them, with one just edging the other in certain categories. Sony does motion a lot better than LG, upscaling is supposedly better too. Panasonic is meant to be the best out the box TV without calibration and has the best near black image processing.

Agree . someone who doesn't own one or the screen burn brigade.I don't game on any TV as too old now. I was going off looking on display models in Costco .I just thought Sony looked a better picture but they all set to shop floor picture on settings and it was another 3 ton as well!!
Anyone any ideas on the difference between the KD-49XG8396 and the kd49xg8196
Any one know when Sony are likely to release the 2020 AG8 equivalent?

All very similar picture results, but for me it’s the operating system. Looking to switch from a Samsung, which is a breeze to use and the LG’s seem to be the closest. The Sony and Panasonic are fine, but just clunky and not as intuitive.

It looks like the main difference is that the XG8396 has "4K HDR Processor X1™" and "Super bit mapping" whereas the XG8196 does not, it presumably has a less clever image processor, not that it's bad (I have the XG8096 which is the same as 8196) and am pleased with the results.

Also the XG8396 is a 100Hz model vs 50Hz so may have smoother images although I find I get better results with most of the image 'enhancements' turned off!
Very tempted by this but only having the 1 year warranty is abit concerning.

Sony are pretty good. Android is hard to beat in total features. Even if Google control much of the experience.

Panasonic make amazing tv screens but their smart platform is a joke.

Hi does anyone know if you can get the virgin media app on this tv

On my Sony Android TV (different model but same version of Android I believe) I cannot see any Virgin apps in the Google app store. It may be possible to side load it but I can't say for sure.
I bought the KD-65AG8 in December (Costco), best TV I've ever had, there was a firmware update weeks after I bought it and it did make a difference to the Andriod lag that everyone moans about. Sound is great as is the viewing angle.
