Bought this tv on Black Friday, picture is amazing but the android system on it is terrible, so slow, very buggy and incredibly frustrating, would freeze up and reboot, it was slower than my 7 year old Samsung smart tv, luckily I swapped it for the LG C9 and it is the complete opposite, lighting fast response, smart hub is quality and the magic remote is so easy to use, do yourself a favour and steer clear of this and any Sony tv with android software installed, the LG tv is the best in here same price bracket and has a faster processor and slightly better picture

Saw this in currys for £1499 and seemed like a good TV and has kodi installed as well I think.
Be careful, just bought a GZ950, richer sounds rang them as it said in stock but told over phone it wasn't, if you buy it you may need to wait for refund if you don't want to wait for stock.

What would be the LG equivalent?

I love android on my Sony TV. Wouldn't be without now.

Did you update to Oreo? It improved with that version of software.

Yeah it was up to date with Oreo but still incredibly slow, the lag between inputs / changing channels were so frustrating, the LG is pretty instant and a much nicer software visually, just my opinion but because I coveted the Sony tv for so long I was massively disappointed when I actually bought the set, my advice is do a lot of research and watch reviews on YouTube to see how the TVs work in action, maybe I just got unlucky and had a faulty tv

Shame, as I don't find it such an issue on the Sony XF. I actually found it improved when I updated to Oreo and then carried out a reboot.
Still, we can't all like the same thing.
I've got the 65 inch version, great TV! Android works fine and better than tizan on the 4 year old Samsung 'flag ship' it's replaced. The only thing I'm not keen on is the cheap remote control, just doesn't fit with the style or price of the TV.
Zero issues with my Sony AG8, updated to Oreo and everything is snappy and instant. Was never laggy or buggy even before updating....

Sony's motion and upscaling is far superior to LG's if that's important to you. Always see posts on the LG Facebook group about juddery movement and Sky TV/cable picture looking rubbish. Motion is superb on the Sony, smooths out any juddering without "soap opera effect". Sky TV looks great on the Sony too.
I have this tv, chose it over the LG because of the Android os, I don’t use the freeview as we have sky. The Netflix app has Dolby vision and 4K through Kodi looks amazing. Kodi is quicker through the app on the tv then my amazon tv.
Edit: as above, this handles motion very well too

£1227 on Amazon after a very quick search, no warranty on screen burn on any OLED. Waiting for this to drop before I purchase

Juddery movement is because people don't understand how to turn on real cinema same issue i had with my OLED

I must of had a faulty tv then, the one I had was slow and sluggish, like I said there was no issue with the picture, it’s the reason that I bought it in the first place, just giving my opinion and having tried both the C9 delivers a better picture as it’s more customisable, has a better OS & is hdmi 2.1 (all 4 ports unlike the ag8 that only has 2 4K 2.0 ports) end of the day its really down to what your preference is, just sharing my experience with this particular model, every other Sony product I’ve owned has been quality

This is opinion, not fact.

And as for your comment on Sony's upscaling compared to the LG, this is just unsubstantiated nonsense. The LG C9s performance with SDR material is superb.

For anyone having issues with judder on LGs and Sky TV, then they simply haven't set the TV or Sky up properly.

Watch SDR content via Sky Q with the resolution set on either 1080i so the TV upscales and deinterlaces, or if you prefer, to 1080p so Sky Q deinterlaces. I personally prefer 1080i as I believe the TV does a better job and Sky don't broadcast in anything other than 1080i at the most but, would encourage anyone to experiment to see for themselves which they prefer.

If you want a Sony just for the brand name, then this is a reasonable price for this TV.

But, if you want the best OLED TV you can get for between £1,200-1,300, then you are looking at either the LG C9 or the Panasonic GZ950.

It really comes down to your choice between the two as there's nothing in it.

Don't take my word for it, please refer to the following;

The Panasonic and LG were also in a shootout with the Sony's big brother, the AG9, and the Sony didn't win in any category - flatpanelshd.com/new…962.

Save your money for the C9 or a GZ950.

Everything you said is opinion too, not fact.... Same goes for the reviews you posted.

I'm just saying what I'm often reading. The fact that most LG owners recommend turning all motion settings off says it all really and it's widely excepted that Sony does motion better than anyone. In fact there was one category the Sony won in the HDTV blind test and that was MOTION, also came second to Pana in processing.

Theres a thread about that blind test on AV forums, there was nothing scientific about it, a bunch of people in an audience trying to guess which TV was which and that was said by people who were actually there.
The American 2019 TV shootout was the better test, a panel of expert judges testing the actual performance of each through test cards/footage. Sony came out on top, although no Panasonic in the US.

Nope, you're incorrect.

The measurements undertaken by the reviewers at AV Forums are done using professional calibration equipment to take accurate measurements on colour accuracy.

So, it's best we leave it just there isn't it.
