Thanks, reserved two for xmas pressies....

We have the 10" version of this ourselves and they are SIGNIFICANTLY better than the cheapo ones you can get....

*** Ignore that, just got a phone call to say even though their system said they had two left and it's reserved they don't actually have any stock left, sounds like a PC world stock system, ring before you travel folks ***

Thank you (round the corner from me).

this is a QVGA display, meaning its 320×240 on a 7" display. the pixels are going to be pretty big. Was tempted to get his but now i'm really not so sure

Reserved one but will wait to see if I get a call.

Yeah, put me off too. Anyone have one of these?

Good brand & price but a bad product. The resolution on this one is too less for a 7'' display. You would see very hazy pictures.....

I can see your point about the resolution but the reviews don't indicate nothing to suggest this?

Tried Colchester and here were the nearest three (none in Central London)

I have the d72 version of this which has a better resolution.
I think the features might be the same though and they are pretty decent features.

its actually not 320 x 240

This is from the sony user manual for the frame. The E72 A72 are the same but the E72 have a removable bezel.

Extract form manual:

"LCD screen
LCD panel:
7.0 inches, TFT active matrix
Total number of dots:
DPF-D72: 1,152,000
(800 × 3(RGB) × 480) dots
DPF-A72/E72: 336,960
(480 × 3(RGB) × 234) dots"

when i checked earlier there was stock in my area, (colliers wood and croydon) but now its showing as no stock. but i think i would prob have wanted to return it anyway, QVGA is going to result in some seriously fuzzy pictures. thinking back even the first netbook (asus eeepc) with 7" screen had a 800x600 res.

re: kenneth131

you're looking at the A72 this is the A72N, it has lower res

from sony's website: sony.co.uk/pro…72n

Features DPF-A72N

* 7-inch LCD Wide QVGA panel displays natural, detail-packed images
* 128MB memory provides storage for up to 250 photos (images saved at 2 megapixel resolution to increase effective capacity)
* Auto orientation sensor 'flips' images for correct viewing in portrait or landscape frame positions
* Multi card slot accepts Memory Stick™, SD Card and xD media
* Wide choice of exciting, dynamic and fun slideshow, clock and calendar display modes
* Remote control

it does say QVGA even on sony's website

I ordered the Motorola one from Amazon when it was on HUKD for £12... It was the same size and resolution as this. Needless to say the image quality was very poor.

These are pretty silly to be honest, awful low resolution (480x234) in an aspect ratio pretty much no camera uses as standard. So your photographs will be pixelated, and also might be cropped/stretched.

Much better to pay for the Jessops own brand 8" frame with 800x600 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio, closer to Christmas it tends to get a price drop.

I have the jessops 800x600 and just got one of these today as a present. it is nice, no pixelation obvious, very good for the price. worth a try, if you don't like then it give it back!

@ electric0ant

Ok this is from the manual for the A72n its the same thing. Res is 480 x 234

Now even a store brand one at this res would be about £25 and the jessops one at 800 x 600 is £49 THIS IS £19 for a SONY god you people like to moan

Gonna get a demonstration of the model in store tomorrow, if I like it i'll hand over my order number, if I don't i'll leave it.

It may be a Sony but no manufacturer can make 320x240 look good.

I feel the E72 is much better as it comes with 3 interchangeable frames, the rest of the spec's the same

480x234 is awful. I had one photo frame with that resolution. I nearly bought it until I see the resolution. If it is 800 x 600, definitely it's a good deal.

jessops sell the sony DPF-E72 at £20 which takes multimedia cards and much more image types than this one. Also you can change frames - black, brown and red. If you look elsewhere the dpf-e72 is worth a lot more look at play, Debenhams etc. Can someone tell me why this is not on here instead??!

I reserved 2 in Staines and then get a call to say that although it's on their systems, there are actually none in stock. Same with Ealing.

Same thing happened with the M2 deal at Jessops earlier in the year. In other words, the staff are nabbing them for themselves.

Another reason why I would rather shop online than be sold overpriced goods by clueless instore staff.

Watch out, just had a call re my reservation from ashford Kent saying there is only one left & it's x display v scratched! Makes sense as to why you can only reserve in store & you can't get hold of many cos they are all x displays & bound to be buggered!

any one whos desperate to get something can try this at 29 pounds

hyperfi.co.uk/son…tml

i also tried with the one above and the one for 20 pounds but they have none , guy at jessops has never stocked either in london - drives me nuts things like that

I just returned with mine, checked the box in-store and it was brand new and unopened so I was happy.

I did also reserve the second model with the changeable front covers... got there and they attempted to sell me the display model, needless to say I didn't bother due to the cosmetic condition it was in.

Overall happy with my purchase at £19 with 4% topcashback and to be honest the image quality is acceptable, certainly the better than the cheaper 7" frames. I know since I bought a couple last year for my kids.

I had exactly the same today in St Albans, reserved the two decided on the one with the front covers, looked at the gap on the display and said this isn't the disply is it and got the response oh yeah it is the one that was on display. Would of happly let me purchase it without letting me know though... grr, thought that was rather poor

Went to collect one today and fortunately there was one on display that showed just how bad the display is so I handed them my reservation number and said sorry not going to collect this as it is awful. So anyone who wants one there should be one available in George Street Oxford.
