This is a great camera judging by the reviews and got a cracking response at £299.

It's a lightening deal. So be quick. Ends at 3pm today. I'm still personally in 2 minds whether to go for this or the slightly more expensive a6000.

Enjoy.

Looks like a decent price drop as opposed to a hyped rrp thats then reduced to match other sellers & called a lightening deal.

Great deal (But I'm skint after Christmas) but the lenses are apparently horrendously expensive

this would be great but the stock lens isn't great

Agreed it is a genuine deal as the camera does sell at that price. This is currently £449 at John Lewis. You can use adapters for existing lenses apparently.

For the money I think you would struggle to beat this camera.

Genuinely great price for this camera.

There's no drop in RRP price on these cameras and nothing announced, still £529 body only on Sony.
Seriously good price, ordered... This is the best price you'll pay for this camera in the next 6 months, guaranteed.

Thanks OP and Brilly

I duped this deal, though it's gone now... anyway, this is probably the cheapest you will see this camera for the next few months, however, the A6000, especially with an OLED viewfinder is without a doubt the better camera overall, however, at £489 (after cashback) for a UK sourced camera is a steep increment... time to wait again

"Black or white", eh? Back in my day you could get black AND white cameras!

I'll get my coat.

Ordered! Thank you so much OP

Bargain price, got mine in the last lightening sale when they were £299, excellent camera.
Stock lens is fine for what it is,ultra- compact, versatile, 24mm wide angle to 75mm tele, with stabilization well made metal body/mount.
Extra lenses are not "horrendously" expensive certainly not compared with the competition, often cheaper in many cases. I got the good quality metal bodied and sharp E55-210mm a month ago from Camera World ago for just £100 with cashback, also have the truly excellent E 50mm f/1.8 which is currently just £170 at Amazon with cashback. Sigma make a couple of excellent quality lenses for just over £100 with E mount (20mm, 30mm).
With a cheap adapter you can effectively use, with the peaking feature for focusing, just about any lens ever made, I use all my old Nikon manual glass to great effect (using pricier Metabones adapter).

This twit doesn't seem too impressed

now £390

Thanks ordered

I just cancelled my order. was tempted by this but I think the rx100 mk1 is a better buy. Far better lens, smaller, very high quality images

They were comparing it when the A5100 cost a lot more than £280 and was nearer the price of the A6000.

Sony has a £40 cash back until 25 Jan on the Rx100, not sure if its your model but worth a look.

Not very high quality images when compared with the a5100 it isn't! Better lens?! Better af?!

Enjoy your rx100 (great compact by the way) but that really is all it is whichever way you look at it

The a6000 and a5100 wipes the floor with ANY compact on the market hands down even with the kit lens which in all honesty is fine for a pancake lens.

The lenses for this system are no dearer than any other high quality lens system for the same specs yet this system is far more compact than any comparable

I've got and rx100 and my daughter has the a5100. Hers is far better picture quality though mines a great size. I'm gutted I missed this deal. I would have treated myself.

I've gone with it. Looking forward to it arriving. Should be cool with my new 55' Sony W8 TV I also got via HUKD. Just need to order a memory card now - not sure what size to go with or brand / any recommendations?

Dammit. Would've gone for it at this price....

Excellent price for an excellent camera. Cheapest it's ever been.

paying 20quid 2 months ago in another lightning deal hurts me to the core
was a bargain then and an even better one now

tbh id keep a look out, its about the tenth time on lightning deals now but the first time at this price afaik

£20 for 2 mouth, it's alright.

Smaller sensor yes but has f1.8 at the widest compared to 3.5 with the a5100 kit lens. I'll give you the worse AF too but I find the rx100's pretty nippy

I've got some amazing pictures out of the rx100. Especially in RAW format. I've head the a5100 is equal image quality with the stock lens

The lens on the rx100 is better than the kit lens on the a5100. I don't think that's up for debate. The a5100 has much better AF and obviously the larger sensor but when paired with the f3.5 - 5.6 on the kit lens, the IQ and low light is comparable to the rx100. Unless you plan on buying a lens for the a5100, the rx100 is a better buy

good comparison if you only shoot wide end but it becomes much closer as soon as you zoom so losing the 'advantage' of aperture which was balanced by sensor at that point
i think the best thing over the nex/alpha range (other than not having to faff about with lenses) is the minimum focus distance which is alot shorter, its still a bit bulky to be comfortably pocketable

Thing is with the A5100 it gives you unlimited lens options. Lenses are relatively cheap too.
The only thing better about the RX100 (which is probably the best point and click around) is portability and build quality.

I find the mk1 perfectly pocketable. I often just stick it in my jeans pocket or a jacket. I believe the later models are bigger and heavier.

It does give you lots of lenses that's very true but I can't be doing with carrying multiple lenses and I wouldn't call lenses at over £100 each cheap. Horses for courses though eh. I've actually just received the a5100 this morning as Amazon didn't cancel my order like I asked so I'll probably sell it on eBay.

rx100 models are all fairly similar sizes, basically the same as the a5100 without a lens.
if you really wanted to you could detach lens and pocket separately and its basically the same.
they may fit in a pocket but not comfortably
either one is a good camera so you'll not go far wrong

To be fair they're both very decent cameras for their prices.

... You'll make £50 net easily.

Anyone think I should sell the rx100 and keep the a5100? I'm doubting myself now
