Great deal!

I was seriously looking at this but was put off by some reviews on YouTube showing it suffering with rolling shutter quite badly. I’ve now decided that it’s a toss up between a discounted a7 iii or waiting for the (rumoured) a7 iv in early 2020. I also prefer the EVF placement on the a7 to the a6XXX
they could have at least throw that cheap pancake kit lens with it.

Price is ok, but 1200GBP+ fpr APSC system... tough pill to swallow
I'd rather go with a full frame or go with Fuji XT-3 or Panasonic GH series.
or buy a6400 which is still the beast among all in the lineup.

Should have really given it a new sensor over previous gen by now, added a front control wheel and improved the rolling shutter, bit of a let down for the price.

All Apsc Cameras suffer from it though it's not just Sony and if your using your camera swinging it like that every Camera will have some effect, Videoing normally you will have no problems at all, I have the Sony 5N, A6000 and A6300 and it's never showing up in my videos and the newer A6600 has far less than my 3 Apsc Cameras.

EDIT remember the A6600 will have the bigger battery too while the A7 Wii wont.

The A6400 has the video S-Log settings that the A6600 doesn't but the A6600 has image Stabilisation but apart from that both are the same camera, no I forgot the A6600 has the new bigger battery too.

Both Panasonic and Fiji are not on par with the A6600 and they also have rolling shutter.
I’d thought the a7 iii and the a6600 shared the same, bigger Z battery? Maybe I’m mistaken... :/

yes, that's the new battery. But PW50 battery is dirt cheap so I have purchased myself 8 of those for my a6400 and never had a problem with juice.

Yeah your right I've some how missed that after watching and reading dozens of reviews, glad you posted or I might have not even considered this early next year when I plan on getting a new camera.

Yeah I carry 2 extra but I'd love to have that bigger battery in my next camera, just hope Sony still have that mysteries A7000 everyone talks about, if that's pricey it might speed up a good price drop in the A6600.

Well I was thinking about xt3 but they breaks a lot. So I bought a6400

Thats a mater of opinion.
Many reviews are rating the fuji better and it mullers the sony on video.
And the G9 is regularly going for whats in effect nearly half this price.

Sony has far far better video over the Fuji, Sony videos in 6k and down samples it to 4k resulting in far more detail, also its auto focus is far far more reliable.

video sony.photo fuji.that's the end of it.

Fuji photo for colour yes but focus is still not as good as the sony for fast moving kids or pets.

not the end of it at all
sony haven't improved video enough and are lagging behind in overall usability here
sure its some of the sharpest (tbh doesn't seem any better than x-t3 or x-t30 even) but the rolling shutter is one of the worst
rolling shutter is much more visible in a video than absolute sharpness
i dont use much video so not much of an issue to me but sony definitely not the best any more there
stills... nothing in it really other than personal preference

yeah, sorry I shouldn't sound that way. Fuji system and xt 3 and 30 are amongst the best on the market. I love the design and variety of the knobs and dials that allows you to adjust the picture on the go when on obsolete sony's system you are forced to shuffle between menus to have the settings you wanted. Sometimes missing the crucial point and moment in time.
however picture profiles, non capped 4k recording, 4k 24p which is a 6k downscaled to 4k, vast gimbal remote support, enormous amount of third party accessories, HLG - HLG1 that matches with mavic 2 pro, gives in my opinion edge to the sony.
however I still prefer auto on Fuji. But I work with picture profiles so I use my LUT's on everything so that doesn't matter to me.

that menu thing is just a tired old urban myth
menus havent been an issue even at the low end for over 5 years with the introduction of quick menu, memory settings and custom buttons

as a person who switched from Olympus syste to Sony I can argue with every line of your statement.

i dont have this camera but have read it can have 30 via mymenu page and i think 20 on a single quick settings page ofc you can choose which settings to put there
then there are multiple memory recalls which have full banks of presaved settings and each of those can have multiple banks saved per mode and then there are the custom buttons for direct access to the most common changes or functions
(even a6000 has had 12 settings as well as the customs and memory banks for almost 6 years)

whats an example of a time that mymenu, quick settings or memory mode or custom buttons wouldn't have done for you and that the other camera did?
