Firmware Ver. 3.0 for α7R III and α7 III is due next month:

Sony’s popular α7R III and α7 III full-frame cameras will both receive enhanced Real-time Eye AF performance with the upcoming firmware version 3.0. This will be available in AF-C mode with a simple half-press of the shutter button. Real-Time Eye AF for animals will also be available.

The cameras will also receive interval recording functionality that will allow for simple creation of time-lapse movies. The new feature can be set for anywhere between 1 and 60 seconds, with a total number of shots from 1 to 9999. AE tracking sensitivity can also be adjusted to “High”, “Mid” or “Low” during interval recording, allowing for reduced changes in exposure over the shooting interval.

The new system firmware update version 3.0 is scheduled in April 2019.

Delighted with mine, it’s an incredible camera. Just waiting for Tamron to ship some more native full frame lenses.

Just a shame they can’t add the in camera lens correction profiles in.
This or the Canon EOS R?

I'll probably go for the Canon as I already have a few EF Lenses.

I actually added more to that, then deleted it. Originally I said it was all about perspective, it wasn't about the boast. I know there will be people on here earning mouth watering salary's. I also know that their are people on here who will complain about what others can afford, yet they spend 1000's each year on Cigarettes and Alcohol.
Wow, more than a 2nd hand car, but 100% more rewarding and less agro, plus it allows you to get away from the those that like to knock others intersts

An enthusiast camera like this has many advantages over the smaller ones. The sensor is much larger and you can control what is in focus to greater extent this is known as the 'depth of field' that blurry background while only the point of interest is in focus.
They have much lower noise at high ISO or with longer shutter speeds, and just about everything is more controllable. The lenses are higher quality too.

Having said that you need a fairly good knowledge of how to use them, and they will bite you with unusable shots if you don't get the settings exactly right !

I moved away from Full Frame because they weight a ton, are bulky, cost a fortune, and are so high profile they will land you in trouble either with idiots telling you that you can't photograph almost anything, or others who want to relieve you of it.

The crop frame mirrorless are the way to go for me, much smaller lighter lower profile and cheaper too - still capable of producing commercial quality images as well.

What happens if it does develop issues? Sony will not cover grey market imports under warranty.

I get that grey imports are cheaper, but you take an enormous risk.

Who is "the average person" and who are you to decide? A phone camera is still nowhere near as good as a dedicated camera mainly due to small sensors and glass.

Used them before when having an issue with the charger, sent another one out right away. I get your point though, it is a risk but realistically the chances of a mechanical failure are very slim.

Clearly you don't get it, as they're not aimed solely at professionals. If you don't understand on even a very basic level the differences between smartphone cameras and dedicated large sensor cameras, then you definitely stick to your smartphone.

"The duration for such inspection and repair of a product can take up to four weeks."

"We return your goods to our Hong Kong warehouse"

No thanks.

Panamoz warranty seems a bit vague. As Sony UK would not repair a grey market item FOC, are Panamoz paying? Seems unlikely, as Sony repair costs can be pretty hefty.

In your opinion and you dont know me.

I suspect you are not genuinely asking about the type of person who buys these or why they would need/want them.

I don't understand why people who are not interested in cameras feel the need to express this on these types of threads. It's not for you and propably never will be.

I'm in Dubai at the moment, and can pick it up for around d £2101 that's for the kit, lens and adaptor. Which isn't a bad price.
