Price is reasonable (although fairly frequent).

Would pair nicely with the Sony 50mm f1.8 currently on Amazon deal-of-the-day sale. FINISHES AT MIDNIGHT!

Personally I don't recommend. This camera is getting very old now, and whilst you can no doubt get some great results I do think 90% of people would be better off putting the money into the Sony APS-C mirrorless line.

I definitely second this. The only exception will be if you use solely manual lens - legacy lens with adaptors or Samyang lens, etc. The dynamic range and the noise level of this body is still interior to the newer models, but this is a good price. and the difference is not that huge.

If you're going that way then Fuji is probably a better bet.

Yes it's old, though IMO all that's wrong with it is plastic lens mount and AF might not be as responsive as some might expect, particularly if they come from DSLR. Great intro to full frame/digital back for your old lenses with cheap adapters.

Or skip both and go Sony APS-C
No 4k video?

Nope. A7ii didn’t have it either. Only turned up on the standard a7 line on the mk3. R and S models were different gens for 4K
