Why did you have to put this on when I have just picked up a £500 bill for my car .

Heat reluctantly added.....xx
Nice camera, don't know about the price as these have been around for a few years now. If it's a good deal you can't go wrong with this one. I couldn't afford this when it over £1000 so went for a Fujifilm so for me it'll be too old a version to trade for.

Good price I guess but the A7 is really old now. I'm holding out for the A7ii to come down to around £1000, when the A7iii is released later this year ...Unless the A7iii has some amazing features and is a reasonable price.
Looking at 3camels, it very briefly dipped lower to £799 some time back. Even at £899 though, that's a great price. Sadly I have too many Nikon lenses to make the move.

Same situation but with EF lens... Dam...
Are the len's expensive for this camera?xx
Panasonic LX100 is probably a better buy. £499 from JL and £50 cashback

This is too much money now if you ask me. I am an a7ii owner which I bought two years ago for £1020 so this is way too much in comparison with depreciation from new models and age etc. The a7iii is expected imminently too.

If you can stretch for the a7ii it’s worth the extra speed and definitely for the built in 5 axis stabilisation. It’s a cracking camera it really is

Mostly ... yes. There are a decent amount of first and third party E mount lenses now, but the A7 is full frame so uses Sony FE lenses which puts you at the pricier end of the market.

As @WhiteNoiseMaker mentioned, the A7 is fairly old now. I'm holding out for the A7ii to show up at a decent price.

I'm after a camera for vlogging. Is the panny any good for that and why is it better. Thanks in advance
I was lucky enough to nab this on prime day for £729, then with the £100 cashback also so paid £629.

I never would've bought it otherwise

There's a link which compares the two from a image quality perspective.

For vlogging the LX100 will be fine though.

This too is a little old and oddly does not have a replacement.
Shame as I quite like it.
There is a strange issue in that is does not use the whole 4/3s sensor, be careful when comparing to other MFT systems.

You can use Nikon lenses with an adapter, but you will lose the automatic functions. Of course they are still great lenses.

This is a great price for a full format camera, most of the alternatives are significantly more expensive. (Not that I am unhappy with my APS-C camera - I think that apart from the angle of view the difference is marginal in normal use.)

Sigma MC-11

I'm worse, I have Sony A mount., so , so close I can get an adapter but a buky adapter takes away some of the size advantage of being mirrorless...

Does not stop me considering the 7S in camera shops even though I know I dont need it...

If you want autofocus - yes. If you don't mind using old manual focus lenses on adapters, then you get them very cheaply.

This AF Samyang 35mm F2.8 FE lens will be a great option for this body, really light and compact great sharpness and full Sony AF, gets excellent reviews. Very reasonably priced at £279. I'll be getting one when they get stock. Other options are the Sony 28mm F2 FE, at £399 - £300 or less also gets very good reviews.

Allthough you wasnt asking me i have the XT20 and i have a XE2, In the past ive had X100S, X70, XE1, XT1 and even the posted deal a A7 ( plus loads others ! lol ) How the deal is about the A7 it does produce some nice images yet i like it yet found the autofocus a little slow and lenses was similar sized and priced ( more at times ) to my Canon 5D gear Id still consider the A7 II when that drops.

I think it's the XT-10 it's been in the storage for 3 months now as I move house. I collect old lenses, have about 30 vintage and I love the fun of finding a new lens and playing around. Problem is that takes a hell of a lot of time compared to just going out to take shots hence I've stagnated :-)
Why does it matter that it's old? The Canon 5d Mark III and Canon 6D came out more than a year before this and haven't long since been replaced once.

It still has Wifi, NFC and other modern features, can have apps on it, and can still take as good of an image as it always has been able to. IBIS of the new one is great but mainly only more helpful at longer focal lengths, where native lenses are unbelievably expensive.

The speed, yeah it's not the fastest camera in the world but for daytime shooting it's not too bad. For a landscape photographer it's a brilliant camera. For motorsport, it's not really for you.

Night time high ISO performance will blow most cameras out of the park.

It's not an 'issue' that it doesn't use the whole sensor, that's exactly how it was designed.

It's not an issue but you do only get 12.8mp instead of the usual 16.8mp.

True, but I'd take the MP drop for the quality of the glass. To get a similar quality and focal range in an interchangeable M4/3 set up you'd be spending a lot more.

The lens is good but you will notice a difference in image quality, especially for landscapes.

You'll notice more of a difference on bigger print sizes and extreme crops. Landscapes at normal viewing sizes, the differences are unlikely to be perceptible to the human eye, if you pixel peep it's a different matter, but I'm no pixel peeper.

I've had a LX100, compared to a Ricoh GR (which is 16mp), the Ricoh was way better. I was quite disappointed with the LX100, thought it might have been a one off, so brought another but this was the same. It was fine for most things, macros were very good, but landscapes were noticeably poor, a bit grainy and lacking in dynamic range. I didn't need to pixel peep but was surprised as sample shots on reviews seemed ok.

The kit zoom lens on the Sony A7 will knock spots off both the LX100 and the GR (prime or not). Comes down to a good match of lens and resolution.

Depends on what you want really. A D3400 with the standard kit zoom (£375) has considerably better image quality than the LX100.
