£999 body only, but this lens is meant to be very good. Just trying to decide whether to go mirror less!

The kit lens is quite good, though I'm not certain it's worth the £200 extra. With the bog standard A7 the kit lens is only £50 on top of body only.

£899 body only (after cashback) at Amazon amazon.co.uk/Son…UFI

Just weigh up if you can get the lenses you want, and balance the cost of the lenses with other possible systems (Sony E mount Lenses can be quite pricey). Perhaps use the eBay 20% off voucher to get a grey market lens (ends 6pm today).

Well firstly definitely go mirrorless. Be aware the replacement for this is imminent. It’s a great camera and for a kit lens it is a good lens. I have both. I personally prefer primes and or high end zooms but this is a handy little lens for general video
Great camera, its the body I use (great stills, less good on the video). Weight saving is good, eye autofocus helps, stabiliser is great for those with shaky hands. Cons are that lenses are pricey, autofocus not the best but the ability to use legacy lenses (and Canon/A-mount glass via an adapter) means you do have options. However I got mine for approx £800 two years ago (grey import), I'm not sure this is such a great deal, especially with the Mk3 likely to come out.soon.
Cheers all, didn't know MK3 was due for release, it's the annoying thing that I want it for a holiday in a couple of months!

I don't think the price will change all that much. It didn't for the A7R when the A7RII and A7RIII were released. If you think it meets your needs now, I'd get it. The A7III will likely come in at about £2,000 is my guess since it's touted to be effectively a budget A9. Also I think what's likely to happen with the price of the A7II is that the cashback offer ends, and the price drops making the cost to you effectively the same - until they resurrect the cashback offer again.

In any case the most important component of the equipment is the lenses themselves, which can always be carried over to a new body in the future.

Completely different camera all together - you're comparing a M43 camera and an FF camera - masses of difference.

That' important as it's the side the photographer wi look at most.

Remember, a good camera won' necessarily take better photos, but it could take better quality bad photos

True but for someone transitioning from DSLR to Mirrorless, an A7 Mark 2 is quite extreme. Great camera don’t get me wrong.
Isn't this just the normal price?

From Park cameras a few weeks ago I paid £1224 (then got an additional £200 cash back so £1024) for the Body, Kit lens and then a 32gb memory card + 2 year warranty.

I am so far really enjoying the camera.

I wouldn't wait for the Mark III - it will be double the price probably.

In what sense?

Moving from an FF DSLR to an M43 mirrorless is what I would call extreme. Moving from FF to FF is what I would call normal.

So the deal should be cold?

I was referring to cost. Moving from a FF DSLR to a FF Mirrorless is quite steep. I purchased myself a Panasonic GX8 to test the waters. When I was fully confident in the mirrorless transition I decided to save to buy a more expensive model.

Fair enough - I also nearly made that move. Ended up getting the Sony A7 instead as I got it for £619 with the lens so it was a bargain.

Great price for a great camera
Almost £1200 For a camera! I could nearly get a new bike with that money!

Or 120,000 penny sweets right? Who cares, this is how much things cost.

Awesome input, would read agin, A++++ 10/10.
That's a lot of money for an unexceptional three year old camera.

I recently bought Sony 16-50mm F2.8 DT SSM lens (a mount) would it be a decent lens for A7 mark 2 with an adapter?

Never mind I just saw samples and that lens won't look good on FF.

That's a crop lens (DT) so wouldn't use the camera to its full potential, but it would work. Would be better on a crop body like A6000, A6300 etc.
