Nice clearance deal.

Why is this cold please? 18-70mm lens included, better than the 18-55 with the Nikons.

Good reviews too ...

I'm sorely tempted at that price. I've reserved one just in case I can't resist myself

seems v good; does anyone no difference between a100 and a100k other than colour of camera?

I'm certain there's no other difference.

This is SOME piece of kit for £349. It is supposed to rival the D80 and even better it on certain features! I bought it today and I am chuffed to bits. The best sub-£550 DSLR on the market IMO, at the price of an entry level DSLR. Don't miss this if you can put up with the silver casing. I can, it's the results that I am interested in.

I got this camera when it first came out and it's a great camera and doubly so at this price. The silver camera used to be exclusive to jessops and tbh I think the silver one looks better than the black ones. The black ones looks more plasticky.

You can also use the minolta lens which opens up the range of extra lens you can buy.

It has had great reviews everywhere but has struggled a bit as sony not one of the big makes in dslr's and the price drop maybe because sony are supposedly bring out an updated/new model at some point.

I don't know much about these cameras, but just pointing out in this months PC Pro mag the Sony A100 came out Best value in the test (and thats at £460). It is currently their 'A' list DSLR camera.

Very good review, overall rating 5/6. Looks a great price, nice find.

Sample pics from the group test can be found here on PC Pro's web site:

Sony camera at bottom of list.

Anyone know any good places to get lenses for this camera. I want to check lens upgrade pricing before I look at buying this.

Nice find though :-D

Any 2nd hand Minolta Autofocus lens will fit and work fine with this, if you are after a new lens I have just posted a deal for a Sony DT 18-200mm lens hotukdeals.com/for…448 which gives a great zoom range

Sony are still a bit limited at the moment on there range of lenses and most are quite expensive

Sigma and tokina also do a range of lens that will fit, look for minolta fitments. I picked up a sigma 28mm - 300mm from cameras2u.com for under £200.

A few places are doing the sony lens at cheaper prices too, worth looking about.

Anyone know of a good case for this camera, at a good price?

are lenses for this camera cheaper than say the canon 400d? I may have to switch my Canon for this especially as it has IS built in

Also, wheres that site that does price comparison on lenses?

If your buying Sigma or Tamron lenses they all list at the same price, Sony don't have a great range of lenses at the moment, they have a few carried over from Minolta and rebranded such as the 18-70mm, 75-300mm, 18-200mm, 50mm and 11-18mm plus some very expenses new zeiss lenses

There is a vast range of Minolta 2nd hand AF lenses about which will fit and work perfectly with the A100, I have always felt that Minolta were one of the best optic producers for zoom lenses when compared to a stint I had with Nikon as comparison, plus as you say the IS is a bonus

That is a flippin excellent price. I remember when this camera was launched. It caused a lot of hype on dpreview. Was £650 when it came out.

I had a play with one at Jessops and it was pretty decent. I went for a Nikon though.

Currys online is 11p cheaper and it's the black version.
Plus you can collect if you like.

And you get quidco at currys

Don't forget the NHS2007 discount code for 5% off at Currys to. With quidco it takes it down to £317. Plus there's free delivery code. It's AWFREE249.

someone posted a new thread for currys 10mins ago then deleted it. It also had details on how to get the zoom lens for £114.

I was about to order and then couldn't find it again.

Just go to Currys and search - the lens is in the "offers" tab. Good deal though, dont know why he deleted it. In a huff I think.

Perfecto, thanks so much

I couldn't get that guys code to work, and the free delivery one doesn't either, but I have the 5% one

I can't find the lens. Could you either post a direct link or give better instructions, please? Thanks!

Popped into Jessops earlier and they had this Sony silver body with a 17-70 lens for £399 which seems a bargain to me. The same in black was priced up at £579.

oops just rechecked and its £380 at Argos if you can find it.

Ooh, it's gone up to £379 at Argos, from £349. Was it a misprice at £349??

:-D

I took some great pics with this in the North York moors last week. Well pleased, although it is surprisingly heavy compared to the usual point n shoot variety of camera. It just shows how much more kit you are getting really. This camera gets an A++ rating from me at the price. I bought the reduced Lowepro DSLR case from Currys at £14.99. A lot cheaper and just as good as the alpha case at £39.99. Not as classy looking but does the trick. It has a rain hood, which was paticularly useful in Goathland and Saltburn where the skies opened on more than one occasion. Is Saltburn the windiest place in the world? It was like the surface of Venus :giggle:
I can see where it gets it's name, as my skin was tingling from the gale that was cutting through my face LOL
