14.9% is the vat back, 17.5% back on total priced Inc. Of vat would actually be more than the vat back.

Example. Camera cost £100 plus vat, total price is £117.50. If you got 17.5% cash back on the total price you would get £20.56 back. Whereas the vat back is £17.50 off of total price. (17.50/117.5)*100=14.9%

I've got the a200 and it's a great camera.

If you are after lenses for your new sony alpha, check out ebay as the old minolta AF lenses are the same mount as this, and there are some decent older ones out there.
Good prime lens = minolta AF50 F1.7 and medium zoom minolta AF70-210 F4 to name two for a start.

check out dyxum.com for lens reviews & lots of info. Happy Shooting !

Bestbuy had this in the twin lens kit for £349.99 but sadly it's expired now, glad I picked one up when I did, great camera for that price and I've picked up the Sony 50mm prime lense for £120 with the vat back offer....

The new sony 35mm f1.8 is also well priced around £150
I also have the Sigma 17-70 f2.8 picked up recently for around £250
The Tamron 17-50 isn't bad either
If you want to replace the kit lens that is

Is this much better than an A230??

I believe it's pretty similar to the a230 but the major change is the grip, the a230 had a very small grip that a lot of the reviews said made it uncomfortable to hold, the a290 fixes this

This is now available again, a290 with twin lenses, 18-55 and 55 to 200 for 349.99
