It's an SR3 rumour on SonyAlphaRumors, so 50/50. There is definitely an announcement on 17 July, but it might not be for the A6500 successor.

One thing is for sure, you can probably add £800-1000 to this deal price for the new model when it does arrive.

Good price. Question is, for a second camera this or an A7rii
Smokin' hot. Very tempted to replace my A6000 with this but I rarely use it these days, camera phone (Pixel 2XL) is my go-to for pretty much everything where I don't need zooms.

Do you want speed or ultimate image quality?
Had this camera for about a year and it's quality.
Sold my big set up and have no regrets.
That's a cracking deal for this camera, I doubt you'll get it cheaper than this for years to come.
Have the A6300, excellent camera. Interested what they'll announce
amazing price for this beast!
I currently have filijfilm X-a10.

Which of the following is the best value and upgrade.

A7II with len after £300 CB = £739
A7 with len after £150 CB = £509
A6500 no len after £300 CB = £649 (this has 4k video)
A6000 no len after £100 CB = £229

Thanks
What i would do is order it just to bag it but select delivery as late as possible ( max 8 days I believe ) and can always cancel (or not ) after the announcement before dispatch

This. The A7R II is a great camera but frustratingly slow writing to SD, especially in full res RAW. It becomes annoying to the point that you can miss shots quite easily without too much burst shooting. Depending on your use case, it can be a deal breaker. I have one, and love it to bits, apart from that. At times it's just mildly annoying (having to wait a few seconds before you can delete a picture, for example). At others you wish you'd turned it down from 42mp to 18mp, but then what's the point of having a high res camera...
300 cashback is nothing to do with any potential new model
its always been that since they did cashback on it (or very soon)

Not true. They did only £150 cashback on it 18 months or so ago.

Maybe I'm having trouble deciphering your badly constructed sentences, but I'm sure you said Sony always did £300 cashback.

18 months isn't relevant to an incoming model, correct, which is why the cashback was far less then.

its been 300 for over a year ... may 2018 infact

"this model is going to be replaced pretty soon, hence the large cashback offer"

this is direct cause and effect statement which is obviously wrong unless you call 'over a year and maybe more' soon

some people indeed

Depends on your definition of soon, but it is being replaced soon, no doubt. Sony don't offer £300 cashback on cameras at this level that are 2-3 years from replacement. The closer a model gets to being replaced, the higher the cashback. It's a clear Sony trend.

Back to your original point. Has cashback on this model always been £300?

lol i actually said 'or very soon' and it seems 'soon' doesn't actually mean anything any more so yeah i guess i am right - thanks
Get the A6400 for approx £930, it's much newer than the A6400, the 6500 has ibis, but also has an annoying issue when shooting certain modes the screen dims and is not visible in sunlight.

A6400 has the newer processor and better af tracking, shame it lacks ibis

I'm not an expert, but there's no 'correct' answer to this. Depends what you need to use it for.

One thing I think most people would agree on is that the lens is more important than the body. Forget the A7 it's too dated, and if going for the A7ii I think you need to factor in the price of another lens to really get the value out of it.

I think the A6500 or A6000 is probably going to be the better choice unless you have a real need for the bigger full frames (more expensive lens options, more weight to lug around etc).

There's some good lens deals on here at the moment. The Sony 35mm 1.8 is my personal pick of the bunch (link below) at £250 - great quality, inbuilt stabilisation, fast. If zoom is important, for £369 you could also look at the Zeiss 16-70mm, but it's a bit of a trade off of image quality vs versatility. These lenses both work on the a6000 or a6500, but are not suitable for the A7 / A7ii.

hotukdeals.com/dea…393
hotukdeals.com/dea…400

If it was me in your shoes, I'd grab the a6000 and the 35mm 1.8 for a total of £478. But if video is important to you, then the A6500 is miles ahead on that front.

Is m50 at £339 better value than say A6000.

The differences are so negligible as to be irrelevant. It's basically the same sensor.

If you're deciding between these two cameras, it basically comes down to whether you want IBIS, a larger grip and an extra custom button (A6500), or a more advanced AF system (including real-time Eye AF, real-time tracking) and a 180° tilting screeen (A6400).
