You should post it. £1020 for the MK2 with lens would have been hot

Yea, they went up a lot after the Brexit announcement.

A Nikon D750 used to be around £1500, they are now over £2K

It sounds a nice camera but it's too expensive, don't recall the A7II ever being that price. If the image quality and low light focusing with moving subjects is as good as a D750 then they might have a winner.

According to dpreview it’s unbeatable for under £2k

89% for the A7III vs 90% for the D750, it is close.

But they still claim it’s the best camera. A camera that got 90% 4 years ago isn’t better than a camera that gets 89% today. They do take into account with respect to its current timing otherwise based on that a camera from 15 years ago that got 91% would be better than a current 90%’er but we both know that wouldn’t work out

Appreciate that, reading the review it sounds like the A7 with the MK3 has caught up with the D750. Really like the sound of the new 24-105 f4 lens, but it’s expensive compared to the Nikon equivalent.

the one thing i would say about the Sony lenses is that yes they're always expensive but more often than not they're reviewed better than their equivalent Nikon or Canon lenses. Very rare the quality is lower. Plus mirrorless is so much smaller as a package and such an improvement over OVFs too. You preview the picture before its been taken exactly how its going to look but also you can see in low light. The advantages are outweighing the negatives hence why Nikon and Canon are both entering the FF mirrorless market this next 12 months as they know this is the next generation of digital SLRs

I understand your reaction as so rarely is a new version worth the cost, especially just after release, and I was assuming this with my intent to get the Mk 2, but the Mk3 turned out to be phenomenal, much to the pain of my pocket. I've had it a few weeks now and I just cannot get over its auto focus....wow.... I've almost entirely stopped using DMF, which I'd become reliant on. Because of the price difference I got it with just one lens....sob sob....I've got two now thanks to a gift. If you want a cheap, yet good, wide'ish lens, I recommend the Samyang 35mm 2.8 (excellent lens for the money). If you can afford to Mk2 I think it's worth saving a bit longer and getting the 3. This new camera is that good.

Yeah, I have the 35mm Samyang, it really is great lens, so light and compact, makes the A7 series so portable without sacrificing image quality and at such a bargain price.

I never put the lens hood back on after fitting a nice thin Hoya pro 49mm UV protection filter! (won't fit anyway after) But I think you just line up the mark on the side of the hood with a dot on the lens then twist it on. TBH I rarely use hoods (I know you are supposed to) and never use lens caps, like to keep my kit as small as possible.
Hope you like the lens.

Twists on OK but a bit loose. 49mm filter sounds a good idea thanks.

I don't think it should be loose, possibly needs a further twist (with more force than you would imagine) with an audible click, can't test as I don't have mine to hand.
