Wtf does an A7 III cost then lol

available brand new through ebay here for £976 with the kit lens, shipped from France so no import fees.

Seller is EGlobalCentral, who are china based, but I have bought through their website before and had no issues, but buying through Ebay gives you a big extra layer of protection if you were worried.

You only get a 1 year warranty, but it costs £173 less so that is a decision you will have to make.

You can extend the warranty by 3 years to make it 4 year warranty direct with sony for £71, still saving over a hundred services.sony.co.uk/sup…ces

Great camera but the A73 looks a massive upgrade with the focusing, better low light ability and higher dynamic range.

From what I understand, its a grey import so its not covered by the UK manufacturer's warranty. In my book, eglobal warranty is useless, and imo doesn't worth it for 10-15% saving.

Eglobal occasionally got some good deals, as long as you are happy taking the risk involved. I'm looking at a £600 lens atm that retails at nearly £1k in UK, but still I don't feel comfortable taking the risk.

This or Fuji xt-2?

When I bought Fuji X pro 2 1.5years ago. It was a decision of X pro 2 or Sony a7 2. A7 2 have better video. Nearly same quality pictures. Sony have cheaper prime lenses. But I still choose X pro 2 for a reason. It's unique. Everyone go for canon, Nikon and Sony. I go for X Pro 2. I'm very happy with it. Love the pictures and the lenses. Lenses are expensive but worth the penny. Same as iPhone and galaxy. I love iPhone. But choose galaxy now these days. Damn every oriental use iPhone and I'm oriental. So I use galaxy.

Prime lenses more expensive on the Fuji, you sure? G-master 85mm for Sony is about 1500 pounds, xf56 for Fuji about 700 pounds

Just do yourself a favour and pay by PayPal and/or buy through ebay. I've lost £180 with eGlobal when they lost my package and offered me £10 in compensation. Still waiting for a chargeback.

This or Fuji xt-2?

I'm looking to upgrade my XT-1 at some point but gonna wait and see what the XT-3 has to offer.Got to say though I'm tempted by the Sony A73 and as having owned a few Alpha cameras in the past it would be nice to go back.
Great deal.

I had both, X-T2 it's a lot more camera even if is not full frame, the only reason to go for the A7 is if you really need the IBIS.

Would love a X-T2 but I’d be surprised if you’d get the same quality images, dynamic range retrieval is pretty good on the A7.

To be honest I prefer the quality of the Fuji files( color, noise more pleasant), the dynamic range is very close, if you compare the first A7 Fuji win, maybe the 2 the sony is a little better...But yes, the Sony have one 1 stop more light and DOF. For me the difference was negligible, but everyone is different, maybe for you the Sony is better, the most important thing for great picture is the one behind the camera

Out of camera pics are not gr8. It’s what you can do with the raw files is where the A7 shines.

Why not compare the Sony FE 85mm F1.8 at £599 Jessops with the £750 - £850 Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R? Both equally sharp, both giving the same depth of field, the Sony is a stonking bargain for its relatively cheap price.

I’ve used mpb before and they are good. Seem to be some of the lowest prices too.

Have a look at camerapricebuster, it will show you the lowest price from a selection of retailers including second hand (so mpb, parks and wex).

XT-1 is top on my list after selling my M43 gear. Makes for great value used and as I’m not that bothered about video should do for me.
Would love as XT-2 though but the extra would get me a couple of the f2 primes which again seem great value.

Have you checked the Fuji Shop, they often have refurbs going cheap.

Fuji Refurbs are as good as new with a 12 month warranty.

I have thanks - the XT-1 can be had considerably cheaper 2nd hand from reputable camera websites. I think the XT-20 is a good price from Fuji, but I want to keep as much cash for lenses as possible, the Fuji lens line up looks incredible.
Guys, what's the best camera at £1k or lower for photos out of the box? Don't want to spend any time in post editing them to look good. ty

TLDR; I'd vote for a used/refurbished Fuji XT-2 based on the limited info given.

It's pretty subjective to be honest.

Some like Nikon, some like Fuji, some like Olympus and I'm sure you'll find plenty of people that like the Sony and Canon jpegs too.

Might be best to have a look search online and see if you can find some jpegs SOOC (straight out of camera) for the different brands and see which YOU like best.

For me I like the Fuji Jpegs, but will always shoot in jpeg + raw to give me the option to edit if needed.

If you were to chose Fuji, there are a few good camera at that price range where the main differences are the handling, which is of course subjective. So if you narrow down your brand I would suggest finding a shop where you can handle them all and see which you prefer.

Either way, consider if your budget would better spent on lenses (it's not clear if you have £1,000 for a body and have a separate lense budget or £1,000 for camera and lens(es)). The camera bodies are often upgraded/updated whereas a well looked after lens will last decades - just look at all the legacy lenses still in use now on digital cameras. So personally, I'd suggest getting the lowest cost body with the features you need and buy better glass if your total budget is £1,000.

I've rambled on a bit now, but this process is what I've been through (with around a £1,000 total budget) and I'm looking at a used XT-1, 23mm F2 and a 35mm F2 with maybe a Samyang 12mm F2 if I can stretch that far. Although might swap the 23mm for the 50mm F2. It's not easy

do you want a full frame camera or a crop sensor camera? full frame has much better low light capablities.

Amazing

But yeah not good for photos, tbh I don't rate the iPhone - even printed at 3 x 3 they are no where near what my old M4/3 system could do.
