Jacobs have just dropped the price on this set by £100 and with 3% Quidco would take this down to £436.49 quidco.com/jac…?ac

Sony aren't doing the VAT cashback anymore but this pricedrop makes the price pretty reasonable !

It seems like a great time to buy the Nex 5 with the 2 lenses as it's exactly the same price as the best price NEX 3 with the 2 lenses. Here are the price comparisons on camerapricebuster for the set.

The same NEX5 set on Bestbuy is currently £549.99 bestbuy.co.uk/pro…spx

A bit of blurb from the description.
"The NEX-5 really wins where it matters. Firstly its contrast-detection Quick AF Live View system is pretty much as good as they get. It's not as advanced as a DSLR, yet it is miles beyond what a compact camera could offer. Secondly the image quality is exceptional, certainly class-leading when lined up against its competition and would hands-down give a lot of DSLR cameras a serious run for their money - even ISO 12,800 produces useable image quality."

Not sure why this is cold - it seems to be the cheapest price around at the moment.

It might be that people believe that 16mm lens isn't really very good and better buy just the standard lens. That would be £100 cheaper since you can get the camera with standard lens for £350.

The price didn't 'just' drop - it's been this price since boxing day - and the deal has already been posted:

Ahhh- Cheers for the comments. It was getting a little chilly for a while but I guess I understand it !

I did a search for NEX5 but in the other post it's listed as NEX - 5 so it didn't return. Ah well, it doesn't mention the 3% quidco there anyway if that's useful.

This seems to be the ideal cross between SLR and Compact for me. Decent quality images and video with a solid build and something you can take snaps with family/at the pub or take in your hand luggage on a weekend away. Taking an EOS 60D with accessories uses up all your baggage allowance and is a bit unwieldy and ostentatious at times.

As well as the more solid build the NEX5 records in 1080p as opposed to the 720p the NEX3 manages. For an example of the video quality check out this out on youtube:

No problem. Just think it's a bit cold at the mo because all the best deals were pre Xmas when the VAT back offer was on. Even then they didn't get much heat - opinions are pretty divided on this camera.

I personally bought this twin lens kit on Christmas eve from Warehouse Express for £459 and with the VAT back it should come to around £390 ish. Deal was posted but it only got 30 degrees!
