"This diminutive player delivers superb picture and sound represents incredible value for money."

It might be small and cute but the Sony BDP-S350 pulls no punches when it comes to delivering first-rate picture and sound quality. The BDPS350 scores over its predecessors in offering Profile 2.0 compatibility. This can be obtained by using the built-in Ethernet port - another feature that wasn't always standard on earlier players.

As you'd expect from a new generation Blu-ray player, the BDPS350 has wide ranging compatibility - including most types of DVD discs. The v1.3 HDMI socket allows the new Sony Blu-ray to output 7.1 Channel HD audio to a suitable home cinema receiver. If you bought an early Blu-ray or HD-DVD player you'll also be pleased to hear that Sony has worked hard on start up times. It now takes just six seconds to begin enjoying your disc - previous machines would leave you enough time to make a coffee! Also improved is the graphic interface system. The new XcrossMediaBar will be familiar to Play Station 3 owners and makes for an intuitive, functional interface.

As with other BD players, the BDP-S300 is also compatible with standard DVD discs. Combined with the 1080p upsampling, this allows you to view your existing DVDs at a level of resolution higher than ever before.

Which ever way you look at it, the Sony BDP-S350 is one impressive machine. Blu-ray has come of age!

As far as I know, but I can't say 100% but Sony are offering two free BluRays with this player. You get a CD Rom with the player which sends a link to your free Blu Rays; as long as this is done by the end of Feb.

The model you need for USB/DivX is called the PS3 ;-)

I've got this player & it works great but will be quite hard to find any stock of this i would have thought as it has been this price for quite a while.

Best of luck if you can get one at that price , went to get one in Edinburgh but they only had the multi-region ones and didn't seem to think they would be getting any non multi-regions
Got to say the player is great

I've got this and made it multi region myself, really easy to do it.

For anyone with no stock in area it is £179.99 @ play But with 5% RAC discount it is £170.99 AND you now get Quantum of Solace free as per:

play.com/Ele…nre

You can order this from dixons for £165.62 (use discount code FEB2 to get 2% off), Listed as in stock & has free delivery.

dixons.co.uk/mar…yer

Try a cash back site as well, and you will get close to the £159 price

Lovely bit of kit this... and great for R1 playback.

Hot But Ps3 Is Hotter

I've just had mine delivered it's fantastic. I used the AJ Electronics offer at £159 free p&p. I ordered on Sunday and received it Tuesday. Really impressed.

Can this play region A blu-ray's or just region 1 dvds?

If it's a multiregion hacked model, then it's only for DVDs.

Blu-Ray playback is locked to the region of origin. i.e Region B here.

They can be made multiregion for BR as well, but it's a hardware modification only and doesn't come cheap. MR for DVD can be easily done via codes using a One for All remote - also works for the 550 model.

BTW both the 350 and 550 use exactly the same motherboard etc. The only difference is that the 550 has onboard decoding for outputing HD audio via analogue connections [for those of us who don't have AV amps with HDMI input]

e.g.

This can be made multi-region for DVD's only so far

Programming the 7040 OneforAll remote to enable region free playback of DVD's on the Sony BDP-S350
Quote:
1. Press DVD
2. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
3. Press 0533

4. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
5. Press 994
6. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
7. Press 1891 (this sets key 1 - the DVD button flashes twice)

8. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
9. Press 994
10. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
11. Press 2552 (this sets key 2 - the DVD button flashes twice)

12. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
13. Press 994
14. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
15. Press 0953 (this sets key 3 - the DVD button flashes twice)

16. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice.
17. Press 994
18. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
19. Press 2214 (this sets key 4 - the DVD button flashes twice)

20. Hold the magic button until the DVD button flashes twice. .
21. Press 994
22. Press Magic Key (don't hold)
23. Press 0795 (this sets key 5 - the DVD button flashes twice)
Done - the remote is now programmed and ready to use

Quote:
1. Now to make your player region free use the Sony remote that came with the player to bring it out of standby and wait while HOME is displayed
2. Make sure there isn't a disc in the machine.
3. Now on the OneforAll remote press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (The blue 24p light on the player will start flashing)
4. Put the player back into standby with the Sony remote
5. That's it, the next time you turn on the player it will be region free for DVD playback
If the blue 24p light doesn't flash then it hasn't worked, try a new set of batteries and start a fresh

Thanks.

Just spoke to Richersounds, and the only region 2 s350s they have left are ex-display models. They aren't getting any more. They have the multi region version for £189.95 though. Just ordered one from amazon seen as Richers don't have any new.

I came across this yesterday:
]http//st…10/

Just wish I'd bought this at Asda over Christmas, £150 with 3 films.
My current DVD player is driving me bonkers and it's going to be too expensive to repair.

Strongly recommend this machine. Picked one up from Dabs over Christmas for £132.

Multiregion DVD side (using the remote), obviously not for DVD.

But it's a terrific upscaler.

Faythur;4494105

IBlu-Ray playback is locked to the region of origin. i.e Region B here.

No its locked depending on the Release House i.e. Warner, Universal and Paramount have or nearly all been region free worldwide and sometimes the specific title I have region free FOX titles even if they normally lock them.

We have two of these machines, had the first one before the general release and the second when Laskys priced it at £129, great player, great load times, no problems at all.

Shouldn't this be expired really ?, Considering they only have ex display models left & not many at that.

You say that but my mates PS3 (fully up to date) wouldn't play Hellboy 2 Blu Ray but it played perfectly fine on this blu ray player. I think its a great player.

Is it possible to play DivX though?

Top of the range sony, pioneer, samsung stand alone Blu ray players and a ps3 were all tested for blu ray capabilities the PS3 took 20 seconds to load up and play Sony 30 and pioneer was over a minute there were also tests on samsung which took 1 min 30 to play

God are you serious?

The PS3 is more like a PC than a player. No wonder its faster it has a stonking great big CPU in it. That's why it costs twice the price.
