Not interested in 3d at all so this is a great price, can BBC iplayer be viewed via firmware update?

I don't want to sit watching tv with specs or clip on's just to see 3D.

I came in to write just that.

So +1 to that

Does this support USB & MKV?

great price

Very ignorant post coming up, but some advice wanted. Rep waiting for anyone who can help.

Basically, I've never had a blu-ray player before. Due delivery of my first hd tv anyday, so thinking now might be the time. But, I'm put off by all the talk I see in threads about it taking a long time to load a disc. Is it really that bad? Would it also take time to load a dvd? My dvd player has packed in, so need to get something anyway. I'm thinking rather than spending £30 on a dvd that upscales, it might be worth getting this instead. Otherwise, it will be a new dvd player now and a blu-ray player in a year or two when prices of discs go down. Any advice appreciated.

Some older Blu Ray models take longer to load the disks, but more modern ones don't.

This model seems to get generally good reviews:

stuff.tv/rev…ew/
pcadvisor.co.uk/rev…222
whathifi.com/Rev…60/

And there is no mention of issues with disk loading.

I've got a PS3 and a dedicated player (not this one), and have no issues with disk loading times!

This is available for home delivery. Please check before making comments.

The new 570 offers much more than 3d over this though. BBC iplayer, 5OD, 4OD and many more streaming to come. Also is DLNA compliant so is more of a media streamer with a blu ray built in than just a 3D blu ray player.

4OD? You sure?

Also available at Currys (instore...if available near you, and home delivery)

The USB is actually visible in the photo by the OP; bottom right corner

Reserved one. Not sure whether to stick with my 360 or upgrade to the 560?

So can you watch utube on this ?

Ordered + heat. Thanks very much!

Just bought one of these 3 days ago after seeing it on hotdeals....for £129.00. Not happy!

Player is great and starts up really quickly. Old bluray I put disc in and went off and made myself a cuppa, come back and waited until film started.

USB slot dont do much at all. View Jpegs but not clearest pic there. Thought it would play MKV but it don't!!!

Still a good buy. Heat added

Reserved the 560 at Cribbs Bristol only to get a fone call and get told it is the display models remaining. I personally wouldn't take a trip up to Cribbs for one myself and just order from PC World if there is any left.

Ive had this model a while and it really is a cracker Yes of course it doesn't support 1.4v / 3D and some of the other random things people seem to want so desperately yet will 99% of the time never use - but as a pure disk spinner the quality is fantastic, upscaling is only bettered by the 760 (Model up) with the more advanced picture processor in.

At £99 its a steal good load times and nice quiet operation.

Thanks, ordered from Currys as PC World is showing out of stock.
Seemed to go through ok but will it be fulfilled??
I'd have thought they'd be coming from the same warehouse?
Will have to wait and see.....

Not available at either PCW or Currys now....

Yes same old scenario. Ex display stock everywhere. Organised con trick

I received mine yesterday by mail order and disappointingly it has clearly been opened before so yes these look like they are returns or ex-display even the home delivery ones.

mine is enroute - lets hope it s brand new??!!!

Sorry, you must have been unlucky - mine arrived today and it's brand new

Mine had the bit of coloured card stuck along the top of the unit highlighting all the features so was obviously ex-display. However, it works fine so not too worried.

Just annoys me when they don't tell you much like Argos do half the time when you get the item and the box is knackered as it's been out and back a few times.

Arrived today brand spanking new in a sealed box, thanks muchly to the OP!

Why is this expired? I picked one up from Currys in Swansea (fforestfach) today, was last one on shelf and box had been opened, but all new inside :-)

Mine had that too. I don't think that means it was necessarily on display. The card hadn't been bent up and everything was pristine. A lot of items tend to have a stick on 'feature' list on them these days.

Happy with mine! :-D

Mine was brand new-just not sure if I need it!!!

It has a much quicker start up time than my old BDP-S350.

It also has a USB input both on the back and front that do different things which confused me somewhat. The one on the back is for BD Live storage and it won't load without it (wonder why they didn't build in a GB worth of memory to save everyone the bother of having to rummage around the back of the unit?) and the one on the front is for replaying photos and the like.

Overall I'm very happy with it.
