I bought one of these in Sainsbury's (Exeter) this week for the same price and came with a copy of the new Spiderman film in the box too, worth keeping an eye out if you're in there.

£5 more gets a 3D player on amazon (or did)

But still fairly hot ;-)

+1

Is this the same one that was a black Friday deal today? Pretty sure it was £60 then!

Bought one from sainsburys earlier in the week, went in today and it's back up to £69,99

do you mean this one that's currently £69.99?
Edited by: "antdav" 28th Nov 2013

This is a REALLY nice player for the price. Handles virtually all computer files I've thrown at it, powers my USB HD drive (250gb) and recognises files on it, no issues connecting to Lovefilm and Netflix (via ethernet cable). This was however in the Black Friday deals today (I was in a meeting today when it became live so I missed a) how much it was discounted off of their current price of 49.99 and b) whether it sold out or might pop up again tomorrow...)

Bought this evening from Amazon - didn't even cross my mind to check JL, even though I'd literally just finished installing my new 42" from them...

Hot!

What's the best one that includes wifi? Can anyone recommend one for a good price please?

There is a review on JL claiming that BBC iPlayer is broken on this device with no ETA on a fix. Does anyone else have this problem with their device? I would use iPlayer on this device if I bought it so if that doesn't work then it is a no buy for me.

You might as well buy a PS3 for this price...

Not being funny, think about it. Netflix/all on demand things/blu ray/3d blu ray/dvd upscaler for around £60 from game

I assume OP item is the same item that can be bought at £40 delivered to store from TescoDirect if ordered online using an email address TD hasn't seen before and £10 discount code TDX-RVNH .
tesco.com/dir…prd
but as the Sony player doesn't support DNLA, you could consider the Toshiba BDX2400B that does support DNLA and can be secured for £40 via the same discount code and email address juggle, and iplayer works on the Tosh
tesco.com/dir…prd

Thanks Flipd! Only thing is the reviews don't look great for the Toshiba and it says it's wifi ready. Do you reckon there'll be more kicking about after Christmas? Post crimbo sales just do not seem as good nowadays

Does this play mkv?

Got this for a tenner with the Currys cock up over the weekend - they'd discounted it to £29.99 already. Well worth the £50 though IMO.

You could also get this for £40 from Tesco Direct using a code as a first time customer

Edited by: "snoopy18" 29th Nov 2013

Hot price but I'm waiting for the 4100 to drop.

cracking deal with the £10 tesco codes! awesome find!

AN LG alternative for £34. I bought from Richer Sounds a week ago for £40 and have just agreed a price match and £5 rebate, so only £29!

amazon.co.uk/LG-…HWT

Have had one of these for two weeks now.Excellent piece of kit.BBC I player works fine but don't update the firmware as you will lose it.
Well thats what i have read on the Amazon reviews,so i am not chancing it. Hot.

Shame its a Toshiba, I would stay well away from them as reviews for that family of player are not very good at all. They indicate that user interface and device response is very poor and usability is so clunky its barely usable. On the contrary, the Sony has had nothing but positive reviews. As far as I can see this player is the bees knees at this price regardless of where you buy it from.

Thanks for posting. I've been dithering over this for a while, but I've ordered from Tesco with the extra £10 discount.

I got this free from Amazon/lovefilm and really didn't like the software interface for it, much prefer the LG smart player which I got with WiFi and 3d support for extra 20 quid...

Only an observation: but the Sony is arguably not the bees knees when it doesn't support DLNA, which is bizarre considering Sony was a key DLNA developer!

I applaud your observation skills, however had you checked the page you would have noted that Sony does indeed offer DLNA, its just you have to pay a little extra for the bigger brother to get this feature amazon.co.uk/dp/…1KY

Just a quick note this has cinavia protection embedded and will not play "some"files from USB.

All blu ray players have this embedded into the system after jan 2012 to recognize cinavia protected files.

The observation is exclusively related to this thread's subject player BDPS1100 allegedly being the bees knees. The BDPS1100 is arguably not the bees knees when one of the key developers of DLNA chose to exclude that feature from one of its own products. But for an entry-level player it offers good value at £40 from TescoDirect.

A Used full fat PS3 has been going for £60 on game. Would expect it at that price very soon what with all the new consoles.
+Obviously acts as a media centre as well.
