Just to avoid disappointment : suggest anyone upgrading their PC considers if:
a) Their video card supports HDCP (high definition copy protection) - and hence able to play HD output
b) The monitor supports HDCP, which a HDMI interface will, but not all DVI ones will
c) Their video card (and to lesser extent CPU) is really up to processing HD.

Likely you'll be OK with a recent/decent PC, but do consider these factors.

eg My PC's nVidia 7600GT card won't play HDCP so no point connecting my £13 Xbox360 USB HD-DVD drive to it

the above post is misleading as you can play blurays over VGA rather than dvi negating the need for hdcp...

voted this deal cold as the LG hd-dvd/bluray drive is almost the same price and has a better spec for bluray reading...

Blueray... lol

Will it take off, wont it take off.... I am going to predict the future, and tell you its possibly one of the biggest IT flops in history.

Its worth paying a few quid more and getting a HD DVD combo drive.

ryouga, imo yes it is, as HD DVDs are still available and are a hell of a lot cheaper than bluray at the minute.

not too bad, better deal once you add 5% varsity card discount. not sure what quidco is on play for electronics, might only be 0.5% now if i remember correctly, but an extra 3 quid off is still ok. agree tho the lg is better value

Banned

my graphics card is a x1950pro 512mb and couldnt handle blu ray discs using the latest drivers, codecs and all that pooooooo - so do beware, really beware.

the playback was juddery - hddvds were fine. my card claimed to be hdcp compatible - but not great for bluray.

dabs slightly cheaper- £58.1 inc del with quidco at 3%
dabs.com/pro…DLK

also scan has it for £55.53
scan.co.uk/Pro…661

i suppose the rac 5% could be used for this

Includes Cyberlink PowerDVD BD Edition playback software for playing Blu-ray Disc or DVD Video movies

Original Poster

id say its worth more for the other deal to even though i put it on here lol

This is a great post. Thanks and rated.

My PC Specs (will post back if this works):

UMC 22" HDMI 1080p monitor with HDMI socket 5MS
nVidia 780i SLI Motherboard
4GB DDR2 1066mhz 2.1v
Quad 8600
ASUS GTX 295 1.7 GB Graphics Card with HDMI output

If my machine wont handle this. What will? I really want to get 1080p from this software and this card. I will test with a DVD video and Bluray video and probably post Youtube review

Thanks
