Yes. The Blue ray player can play DVDs and VCDs any way

Cheers, but I don't want the blu ray to play the CDs as I got an HDD with my CD collection and need a normal connection( RCA?) or Optical audio input, and the frewiew box be the same, or just the connection to the TV would do?
Cheers.

dont even watch DVDs or Bluray but ordered one anyway ! to be fair my Panasonic surround Sound system is 12 years old so could do with updating. the youtube, netflix etc apps are an added bonus. voted hot by me

I will most likely have one optical. Your tv may output all sources from the optical or it may only output audio from the inbuilt tv tuner, depends on your tv.

Great find OP! Hot for me.. Ticks almost all the boxes for me. But before I order, just curious if I can hook up a webcam and use Skype on this?

user manual suggest that it has go optical in . Also
If the HDMI IN jack of your TV is compatible with the ARC (Audio Return Channel) function, an HDMI cable
connection can also send a digital audio signal from the TV.

Very tempted....

looks darn nice but quick question - can you put a ps3 or even a pc through it to use the speakers ?

edit - google'd it myself, it is iplayer compatible and you can either connect 1 device to the player via optical in or if your TV has optical out and several HDMI's connect everything to that and put the optical from tv to player.

That is true, and after snap purchasing it (for some reason) I have come to the conclusion this is what I will try, as I have at least 2 HDMI devices I need to output through this. HOWEVER it will not be able to output HD sound by doing this method.

hrm, please let us know how you get on, about only thing stopping me from grabbing this is connectivity - mainly sound input from ps3/pc.

OK I'll update the post when I get it - it may not still be that cheap then though!

Does your TV have a HDMI ARC port?

why

Few interesting reviews from amazon vine (and other) reviewers on amazon. Worth a read if you're in two minds.

Price seems okay, but am put off by lack of optical in.

it has optical in by all accounts, but no other input, which is why i'm avoiding it personally - i'd want to use it as an amp for my whole setup.

I don't get it, why vote cold because it's 300 watts? Do you know how quiet that is if your in a large room with a crowd of people making plenty of noise?

300 Watts is really weak, but hey that's just my opinion.

I had one of these and sent back as sound was not that good and exchanged for the 290 model of 1000watts and got it for £150....£30 off and its so much better..sounds great...

I would have thought most people won't be using this in a large room with a crowd of people. Most living rooms are quite small and for many people it's plenty loud enough for a family to watch bluray films. By all means point out potential limitations, but voting cold for a single limitation when it is such a good price and when it's going to be fine for a lot of people seems petty.

Totally agree. I think this is certainly worth for the price we are paying. A stand alone blue ray player cost more than half of this(£109) now a days.
