Nice to see this back down to the sub £100 price, I bought one last week from sevenoaks S&V for the same.... That was the only place I could find in the sub £100 mark....

Hot from me

It not only plays Iplayer, but also the majority of media formats via usb, including H.264, MKV, MP4 etc

Best blu-ray on the market IMO factoring features vs price vs style

It might be able to play H264 and MKV but those files are usually bigger that what FAT32 can take so pointless as HD movies on MKV are like 4+gb anyway, and sony's dont accept NTSC from what I understand.
I could be wrong though

FAT32 can do more than 4GB. I've had files much bigger than 4GB. see How to create files over 4GB

is there much difference between this and the s360?

not for bluray playback i dont think
but the s370 here is the first to add nice extras such as iplayer and media via usb.
s350 and s360 basically bog standard devices

thanks just bought

...and can it be made multi-region for DVD (...still a very important feature for those of us with huge DVD collections)

I bought one of these a few weeks ago when the £99 Sainsbury's deal was on. Superb piece of kit, I bought a 16GB USB thumb drive and stuck a load of the kids movies on it, saves the discs getting scratched and they have instant access.

If your thinking future proof then the S470 has got to be worth a look at £158 as its 3D compatible?

Also if you add this 2m HDMI cable its free!!!!

Fantastic player, I got this a few weeks ago from amazon for £130 or so, the internet content is fantastic along with the ability to stream over wifi.
Internet content includes iplayer, demand five, youtube, howcast to name a few (along with the ability to add video podcasts)

I think it has SACD playback too.

Concur that this is a fantastic player. Much faster disc loading times (my old 350 took forever). The biggest pleasant surprise was that iPlayer also has BBC HD content which the PS3 doesn't. This makes it utterly phenomenal. I paid £137 a while back and don't regret it at all!

There have been a few firmware updates already. Not sure what they have all fixed/updated. One of the early ones was iPlayer.

Thanks OP, have some heat, just ordered one. Don't forget to add the free HDMI cable.

dont fall for the 3D gimmickry
a lot of unresolved standards to iron out.
if it does ever take off, it will be at least 2 yrs

Me too, though think it needs an £80 wireless adaptor to do so - can anyone confirm?

I bought one a couple of months ago from Play for £99.99. Fantastic player, probably one of the quickest BR players out there, Home screen within 3 seconds. Plays BBC iPlayer, You Tube, 5 On Demand, Lovefilm and many more. You can also stream movies from your PC.

Also plays SACD. Can be made Multi-region for DVD's via a simple remote control hack. I did mine using a Harmony remote in 10 minutes.

You need some method of connecting the player to the internet to use the online features. I use Homeplugs, cheaper, fast, more reliable than the wireless connection.

Surely if it is wireless capable then it must have an ethernet port?

Which is the best way to download and put kids movies onto a USB as you mention.

an IDIOTS guide would be appreciated.

damn, just took delivery of this yesterday and paid £117 :-( good player though and looks like they will be adding more features

Typical, I bought this a fortnight ago for £108. I knew it would come down once I bought it!!!!!

Excellent piece of kit, well worth £100 of anyones money.

the LG BD560 is £106.50 delivered from ComEuro.net, richersounds will beat their price by £5 so £101.50 delivered. The LG BD560 has NTFS support unlike this sony so you can put 4.4gb .mkv files and 7.8gb .mkv files on a usb pen and watch them, you have to split files into 4gb chunks for this player.

Yes it has an ethernet port which is how I view my media over DLNA

The main thing fixed was a bug in the sound between this and newer model sony TV's... This happened to me, the sound would cut out for a second about 3 or 4 times during a movie. The new firmware has fixed that.

Download utorrent and then search for the movies you want on isohunt.com

Then when download simply copy and paste onto the flash drive...

Not on all TV's. Some other Sony models still suffer the sound drop outs. A new firmware update is due this month.

Would buy this over an Onkyo any day(_;)

Onkyo, is that like an Aldi own brand or something

This item has been at £99.99 on Play.com for the last 3 days. Looks like Amazon are just reacting to others prices again rather than offering a genuine original bargain.

So can I just check, can this player play files over a network? ie I currently use my xbox to play movies/tv from my NAS drive (DLNA server) via homeplugs but can I use this instead which will also upscale?

3D TV is a long way off for most people and the 3D tech that's currently on offer would have to be massively improved if i were to consider getting it. No point in paying an extra £60 for something most people aren't going to use anytime soon.

Can anyone that already has this player provide measurements of the unit?

I'm tempted by this but have very limited space in my setup for it (it would need to replace a slim Samsung dvd player so have to be similar size).

Spent £134 two months ago and it worths every penny.

BBC Iplayer and Lovefilm are definately plus points of this model but my 2Mbps downlink struggles to stream videos smothly.

How does comapre to a PS3 for Blu Ray?

I have a PS3 but I also need a new DVD player (that can be made multi region) - I'm half tempted to get this and use it for BD instead of the PS3.

Good find

I agree, only fools would buy a noname brand such as Onkyo.

The BBC iPlayer is brilliant and streams in HD for some programs! I have my S370 connected to my Wireless router via an ethernet cable as I do with my Sony 32EX503, picks up straight away with no connection lag or problems. DVDs and Blu-ray discs look great but for me it is worth it alone for the excellent built-in BBC iPlayer...

You don't need to buy the Sony Wireless connector (£70 approx.) to connect to the internet as it works also via Ethernet - my Router is next to my TV though some of you may need a much longer cable!

Bought mine from Play at this price a couple of months ago and got a massive 50p cashback (TopCashBack) - might splash out on a bag of crisps.

Why can't you watch dvd's on the PS3? I just bought a PS3 and about to buy an amp which will upscale any dvd played on the PS3.
