UHD Blu-ray - the ultimate picture quality
If you've got a 4K UHD TV with HDR, then why not make the most of it with this stunning UHD Blu-ray player. At last, the resolution from films on Blu-ray now matches the UHD resolution of your TV - maximising the potential of every pixel to give super-crisp detail and realism. With a wide range of UHD Blu-ray films already available, you can enjoy the very best in sound and vision from today.

HDR plus HDR to SDR convertor

HDR (High Dynamic Range) offers superior contrast with crisp detail visible within the brightest or darkest colours. HDR makes pictures more natural than ever. If your current TV isn't compatible with HDR, the Sony features an HDR to SDR convertor. Sony's unique technology lets you playback HDR-encoded discs on a regular 4K UHD TV, offering the highest picture quality possible.

Taking streaming to the next level with 4K UHD compatibility
As well as 4K UHD Blu-ray discs, you can also take advantage of the Sony's 4K video streaming services. Already available via Netflix, Amazon and YouTube, 4K streaming takes streaming to another level of clarity and striking image quality.

High-Resolution Audio compatible
Whether you choose to play from disc, USB or stream via a DLNA compatible network, the UBP-X800 is compatible with a wide range of Hi-Res music files. 24-bit/192Hz FLAC and DSD (Direct Stream Digital) files give superb sound quality, meaning you won't need to add a separate network streamer to your AV system.

Play it all

As well as Blu-ray, DVD and CDs, the Sony UBP-X800 plays a wide range of other discs. SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) and DVD-A discs can be played as well as audio discs recorded using FLAC, DSD, ALAC or AIFF formats. This gives the Sony the ability to excel with High Resolution music formats, lifting its sound quality well above most Blu-ray players.

Anti-vibration construction for cleaner sound
Built to far higher standards than most Blu-ray players, Sony have used construction techniques more usually reserved for high-end Hi-Fi. The casing and drive system feature heavyweight panelling and damping for effective suppression of vibration. Reducing vibration gives the internal electronics an easier life, thereby reducing distortion.

Twin HDMI sockets plus coaxial for easy connectivity
Twin HDMI sockets give you flexible connectivity. The second HDMI lets you run an audio source in another room or use the player with older AV receivers that won't pass through 4K HDR signals. A coaxial digital output gives compatibility with other digital components. Powerful built-in Wi-Fi with multi-antenna, effortlessly links to your system.

DLNA connectivity
DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compatibility makes it easy to stream and transfer music and video from other DLNA-supported devices on your home network. Laptops, PCs, NAS drives and even games consoles can now all easily be linked together.

TV SideView for smartphone control
With the TV SideView app for iPhone or Android you can take control of the Sony with your smartphone or tablet. It also lets you see real-time information about the show you're watching; browse Tweets about the show, share what you're watching and find related videos via the Sony Entertainment Network.

Would it not make sense to get a lg Oled tv for that price?

I'd say so. The LG B7 would make much more sense than this at that price. If you're looking for led then last year's Xe9005 would be a much better buy for £999.
Would help having the model in the title
Wow, a bit pricey for me
This is the brand new XF90 and the highest price it'll ever be. Within a year it'll drop to the same £999 as the XE90 it's replacing.

Definitely not a deal.
The price includes the x800 player so the price effectively becomes 1399. And to be honest for that price you can still (if you look around or wait) get the LG OLED.

Agree mate, i got the B7 at Xmas and it's amazing. No other standard 4k set I have seen comes anywhere near the picture quality of the OLED, that's why it won tv of the year 2017.
Anyone who pays this for a non OLED is crazy!
I am still not convinced with oled. Far too many articles / online vids about burn-in issues.
I have done a lot of scouting around and reading over the past week and I still can't justify spending that kind of money and babysit what I and the kids watch on TV.
That's my personal opinion.
