Any 55inch deals?

Same price direct from amazon, got it in my basket ready for it to drop back down to £ 529 again like earlier this week

Tell richer sounds about this... Price match tesco and give you a six year warranty

not 10 bit panel this is 8 bit

Original Poster

It's 10-bit neogaf.com/for…558 (800D is US model name of this model).
The XboxOneS states its 10-bit when configuring it too.

This isn't a 10 bit. If it was I would of jumped at it.

Update 09/08/2016: Our original test was showing an incorrect color depth of 8 bit due to some incorrect drivers on our system, but after some correction to our test apparatus, we tested again the color depth and we can confirm that the Sony X800D do in fact have an 10 bit panel. Also supports 444 chroma.

This tv is £557.10 at argos using code TVS10

I'm tempted at that price. Don't know if I'll get better on black Friday though.

Can't really find anywhere confirming if this is 10 bit. How reliable are the links posted above, really needs to be advertised on the Sony website.

Same here, i am in two minds as to whether to buy now or wait a few days maybe argos and tesco will price match each other and drive the price lower like they did with the xbox one s on release day

HOT, not a cheap chienese hisense

Don't really get the Hisense bashing

Seriously doubt this is 10 bit but this is arbitrary if the peak brightness is correct in the rtings review HDR will be pretty much innefective at such low levels add to that no local dimming makes this a poor choice if you want the most out of your PS4 pro.

Anuone know the difference between the KD43XD8088BU and the KD43XD8077SU. ??

Yes

If this is the UK equivalent to the x800d then this TV is 10 bit.

Can't find any UK sites saying what the panel actually is though. I'm on the edge on buying it.

Probably fairly reliable in you are in America. The trouble is even if you compare the correct US model numbers to the UK ones that's no guarantee they will be using the same panel. It's very difficult indeed to find out exact information like that. Bit like different sizes in the same range are often not comparable because they use completely different panels.

Not especially helpful information I know, but honest.

It's usually done by people that have very little idea what they're talking about. If it doesn't say Sony or Samsung then they assume it must be rubbish. The power of advertising and brand power.....

Fail. What ever it was!

I've gone with it through argos for £557.10 with discount code TVS10. Got free delivery for some reason so going to get it delivered next week Monday.

If a better offer comes up through black Friday will be easier to cancel then take the tele back.

Also went through quidco, hopefully it works with the code as quidco are giving 10% cashback for the next 2 hours.

It's and 8-2panel but that doesn't matter, it's still the best 43 inch TV you can get.

1.72% TCB, 1.6% Quidco

Quidco usually don't give cashback if a discount code is used to buy stuff

Samsung KS range is the cheapest entry point to proper HDR coming with Premium UHD certification.

43 inches on a 4k set? Hope you are sitting REALLY close.

Sorry for novice question- is this 8bit not true hdr a real problem ? Does true HDR require 10bit ?

It makes no difference as i said in a previous post it's peak brightness and lack of local dimming means it will not be a good performer when it comes to HDR.

8bit panels can produce about 17million colours a 10bit panel can produce nearly 1billion colours.
100% this isn't 10bit

Edit:
http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/a20c636

The numbers on the end are just the colour but this is the correct model, I was in richer sounds yesterday about to buy one and they confirmed it's 8bit,
I'm now going to buy the Samsung 7000 or 8000 depending on price drops on Black Friday, go and look at them in a shop the difference between this and 7000 this easy to see.
However for the price this is a very very good tv.

Looking at it you can see it's not 10bit and even if it is the HDR did nothing for it because of its poor brightness. Take a look at it in store then look at a OLED or a Samsung KS7+ and you'll see this TV basically doesn't have HDR.

I enquired about this tv a while ago and after emailing sony they comfirmed it is a 8 bit panel which can accept a HDR signal but can not process it as HDR it is definitely not 10 bit and cannot process HDR

Edited by: "kaiser051" 21st Nov 2016

So it's a bit naughty then as it has HDR all over the sales pitch
