Amazon deal of the day, the usual free next day delivery for Prime Members. Purchased this TV earlier on in the week via Amazon Warehouse, impressed with the quality vs price. If you can go slightly above that budget the hisense 50n6800 is the best bang for buck

The reviews are not great. I've been looking for a new Tv and £450 is y budget is there anything better out there?

I would not look at the reviews if I were you. I am using this exact model, like the OP bought it during the Warehouse sale and the image is Crystal Clear, especially when viewing any 4K content and the wifi works flawlessly.

Been looking at the Hisense 45N5750 @£429...hoping it gets under £400 before Christmas...

I have this model as well. Got it this time last year off th warehouse and ended up paying £330 for it. Great with everything - PS4 Pro looks great (horizon is insane) and stuff like documentaries such as blue planet look really crystal clear. Sony TV's are very good at upscaling. Android TV isn't half as bad as people make out. So easy to use your phone to put internet streams / photos / music onto the tv.

49we753 will beat this? 455 with 3 years breakdown coverage:)

Samsung UE49MU6400

Maybe over your budget at £519 from Crampton and Moore however John Lewis will price match as Crampton and Moore have a walk-in store, plus with JL you get 5 yrs Guarantee.

Don't have this TV myself but have been looking for possible future TVs.

Won't be this TV you have - the XE is Sony's 2017 range, only been available since early 2017.

Can’t have got it last year. It’s a 2017 model which came out around March/April.

i have a 1080p sony tv similar model to this, and its probably the best picture I have had or seen in a tv, compared to other brands
my tv I use for xbox etc, is a Philips ambilight 4k tv, picture is good in that its 4k and hdr, but sony tv still looks better

just wish Philips would improve screen, or somehow sony could incorporate their own version of ambilight, its a feature I don't want to be without

Each day recently amazon have had a Sony tv as deal of the day. Only a matter of time until the xe80 or xe85 goes on offer at maybe around £499. I am waiting for this. Triluminous and android worth every penny plus Alexa compatible.

I picked up the model above this for £575 with a free Echo. Don't know what the XE70 range is like but I absolutely love the picture on the XE80. We had a midrange samsung before but there's no comparison. Android TV is decent enough too, I was worried about potential lagginess after reading the reviews but it's been fine. The Alexa control is only really useful for turning it on and off but that's handy enough for me.

Whilst I'm here, I also picked up the HT-RT5 soundbar package from John Lewis (miles cheaper than anyone else, it's a great deal) but not sure the best way to connect it all up. Does anyone know if it will do 4k HDR passthrough from my 4k Blu-Ray player? I know it passes 4k but not sure about the HDR.

Yes I decided to go for the £575 deal as well but by the time I decided, Argos had pulled the 10% off deal and the amazon price match disappeared immediately. Come on amazon £499 please!!

How long is the warranty? My last 2 sonys have failed in just over a year luckily i bought from john lewis with 5 year warranty

I have personally visited Curry PC world and tested the 4K TVs ( LG,SONY,Samsung). I played a Padding-ton 2 movie(1080 P) trailer in Youtube in all those TVs and I personally found there is difference in quality of the picture. You don't see much difference for the 4K videos but we dont get TV content in 4K . So I tested 1080 P videos in all of them, I personally liked SONY 4K ( XE 80 + series than XE 70) and SONY picture quality is good compared to all the other brand 4K tvs. I am waiting for good deal on XE80 series SONY Tvs. It has good built in Andriod OS which is easy to operate and quick response than XE70 series doesn't have andriod OS ( unix OS ) and the menu is not good. Hope this helps !

My Vote for 4K Tvs : 1) Sony ( XE 80 + series) with TRILUMINOS™ Display ( best one )
2) Samsung
3) LG

Hmm, maybe refering to last years model the XD70? This one unfortunately doesn't have Android.
Agree with other comments worth an extra £50 or so if you can get the XE80 over this, especially if you prefer using the inbuilt OS, Android in my opinion is much better.
I've also compared this to Hisense H495500UK, Hisense looks washed out in comparison although the direct backlight of the Hisense creates a more even picture, not quite the same league though!

49xe8004 or the 49xe8396 but amazon don’t stock the latter.
The only difference is motion flow 100 and 400 respectively.
Edited by: "fiestasteve44" 30th Nov

It's better to buy TV with Android OS or go with this?

With the John Lewis price match you have to buy it first from JL and then contact them to try and get the difference refunded? Is that how it works?

Ah, thanks.

So you can ring them up before, say that you have found a better price, tell them where and they basically say yes or no at that point? If they say yes do you then just order it there and then on the phone?

I'm watching that one too.
Let's hope it drops a bit, then it will be a cracking deal.

Paid 800 quid for it from John Lewis a few months ago..roasted. It's a great tv though

If you are a costco member the Sony KDL49WE663BU 49 inches is on offer at #419.98 with a 5 year warranty. No idea if it is better or worse than this but seems pretty cheap. Offer runs till 17 Dec.
