Recently looking for a TV, this was £649.00 yesterday at JL down to £535 today so snapped up! Was looking at the Hisense U7B at £500 but the Sony just pipped it to replace my 9 year old Sony!

KD49XG7093 available at same price (Silver with motionflow 200, not 400 unsure of other differences)

Bought my TV (a Panasonic 49FX750 for £599) from John Lewis clearance a fortnight ago. Looks like it might have dropped even further had I waited a bit longer. However when there's only one on offer, there's always that risk that someone will beat you to it!

Whilst I'm happy I bought it & have joined the ranks of the ranks of the 4K/HDR crowd, if I'm honest, I expected it to be 'more different' to the six year old Panasonic it replaced. Yes the 4K samplers on YouTube looks fantastic but Peaky Blinders looks exactly the same (dark, dismal & depressing; a bit like the Brum I remember from the '70s!).

Terrestrial hd broadcasts top out at 1080p so won't look as impressive as 4k encoded bluray/games etc. It's a less impressive jump from 1080p than good quality HDR is.

Until the majority of networks start broadcasting in 4k/hdr/hlg, vast majority of prgrams will look gash.
What's people's thoughts on this Sony Bravia KD49XG7093 4K Ultra HD TV ?
It's good. Stands out in its category. Other tv's might have better smart tv and extras but this one is good for actual watching. Sony tend to be very safe buys. Hence why last years models by Panasonic and Sony are highly sought after.

For the Panasonic Fx750 make sure you use True Cinema Mode for colour accuracy. Change backlight, gamma etc accordingly. Enable Sky UHD etc.
