I've been lurking for a new 49/50" TV for a while now and just stumbled upon a £125 discount code by Richer Sounds who offer 6 years warranty + 0% interest free credit. They claim voucher will expire on 04.11.2019 so just before Black Friday. Might bite on this one and hang around Black Friday deals to see if worth keeping or returning.

But this is 49", you need 50"

Thanks for that, made me chuckle!
Not sure why this has gone cold. They are matching the John Lewis £125 gift card offer but without the fuss of claiming the gift card and with a 6 year guarantee. Also potential 2.1% topcashback

People probably voting on the price, rather than deal? Which for a full array LED TV is smoking hot in my opinion!

Or because students can potentially get it cheaper at Currys. But I'm not a student and dont find TCB reliable for large sums. It's a very good quality tv, I may bite rather than wait for Black Friday.

Right, I forgot that £999 RRP TV prices are for students

Well my kid is not long out of being a student - and parents should get some benefit from having raised them.
Great TV - If you love opt-in youview 'crapware' built in giving you popups whilst you watch TV. Not touching Sony TV's until they remove this crap community.sony.co.uk/t5/…462
This shouldn't be cold. This is a good price for this year's set.
However. The larger 55" xf90 is still cheaper at Costco until Monday, albeit a year older, the upgrades are negligible.
Actually I think this is being confused with another Sony 49 inch tv posted with the possible student offer but without the model number in the title - it's not the same tv, this is a better model.

Just don't enable Youview

Just don't enable Youview

I don't have it enabled yet still whenever I restart my TV I am forced to watch trailers without being able to stop them.

Is this true? I've been thinking about getting this TV but I already run tvheadend server for recording, and have an Nvidia shield for streaming, so I literally only want this as a screen. Nothing else. Is that not possible? Gutted if not.

I don't think it's possible the shield will just be a hdmi source if you press home on the Sony tv remote it will still take you to the TV menu not the shield's
There may be a way to disable it here community.sony.co.uk/t5/…353

I would of loved to of been a fly on the wall at the meeting that decided this utter nonsense. They must of had little or no experience of modern web browsing gripes.
Definitely cold, just bought the same tv , just not android, uhd etc from john lewis ( 5 years guarantee) for £350 less ?
Is this same as last years xf9005? Hard to find reviews for this TV model

Given top marks, not many changes from xf but this is this years model but the xg90 doesn’t come in 55in where the xf is 55 inc and above

Thanks for the link. I'm only asking as my xf9005 is broken and sony don't stock the 49inch now so offered me the xg instead it just seems each year all these tvs aren't as good. Unless it's oled

Its a completely different TV, this has a back lit full array panel and is Sonys top of the range 49". It's currently £999 on John Lewis.

I was looking at this one at the start but have led towards the lg c9 oled from reading reviews over last 2 weeks. This Sony is solid and this is a good price ,specially for decent processor, depending on what size u are looking for there is xg95 55 inch which has the flag ship processor selling at around 1400 but at that price might as well go for oled!

Yeah true I've had the Sony since last November been fairly happy with it. There is blooming at times but the overall HDR is decent. but the issue I had with getting sony to send a engineer out was a pain. Took over 5 weeks for sony to get it sorted when they did send the replacement that was faulty too so hoping the xg90 will be okay otherwise I'll probs go oled.i am limited to the 49inch think the 55 would be too much as I'm only 6 feet away.

OK I have only had upto android 7 on my sonys so it maybe a product of the android 8 update (i haven't updated my xf yet). I could be wrong but this doesn't sound like Youview to me, I know sony tvs have a new service called samba on them, it was installed in a update to android 7 but I disabled it, try disabling that (do a search for more info on disabling it)

I did, once. Maybe it reenables it upon updating. Wouldn't be surprised. People are spending £££ on their TVs only to have to put up with more money milking practices... Shameful really

Then it is not the same TV is it? What is your model number?
Well just rung up telesales to be told that the £125 voucher and 0% 12 months credit do not apply to this deal at the same time.

OK I just got the oreo update and as part of it I was given the option of weather to allow a few different options samba tv, Sony advertising and programme recommendations being part of them. I think you have these options selected
