Good tv but they should offer at least 2 years a of warranty

I bought the 48inch version the other week and is an absolutely amazing tv!

Was £3499.99 lol I think not. Good find. Been looking at this tv. Anyone give me some clue on what tv to buy. Max I wanna spend is around £1000????

Im debating between this, Panasonic. AX802 or the Samsung HU7500

It has 5 years sony warranty. ..

£1299 new from Currys or Richer Sounds with 5 year guarantee

This or the normal HD Sony W8 29? Can anyone help as to which will give the better picture for non 4k material

Hi harveyman

The w829 has better reviews, however I would go for this model of I were you. This unless you care about the warranty..

I can't convince myself 4k worth it yet and as you say the W829 55" has outstanding reviews with its 800hz refresh motion flow. Has anyone got any links for reviews for this 4k set?

Best price/quality tv at the moment is for me the samsung hu7500. For not going out of topic, here harveyman an extensive research I did on the Sony models you are evaluating itdrafts.blogspot.co.uk/201…m=1

Quite a price difference in the two sets though.

Yes bob644. If you want a well-reviewed tv with outstanding performance you need to spend at least 1.5k..

Where does it state it gets the five year warranty?

I don't know, georgenicholase said that

I read 12 months guaranteed

Hot deal! Cheapest i have seen it. Usually that price for the 49" model. Great price for a 55" 4K tv with a good spec and under the Sony brand.

Don't do it! It's more expensive at Currys, but you'll get a brand new set ('graded, as new' is still graded), you can drop the price by £100 if you have o2 priorities (or a friend willing to send you the code) and you get the 5 year warranty, which is worth at least £150.

Just a heads-up, John Lewis price matched this for me today.

Surprised they did that - I tried myself, and was told that this company did not meet JL's requirements!

Their price match system is so hit or miss; never sure what the answer will be. I tried 3 times to get JL to price match the Sharp 60" LED TV, all without success.

any chance you can buy me one from JL and I'll give you the £££

In order to apply a price reduction on a purchase, the criteria in our pricing policy must be met. I regret that after review the request you have submitted does not match all or parts of this policy.

In order to match a price request, the competitor must trade on the same basis as us, for example we will not match online only retailers, mail order only or show-rooms attached to internet-only orders. As Electronic World has only showrooms and has no other high street presence, they are not comparable with john Lewis.

Therefore, on this occasion I regret that I cannot match the price offered by Electronic World. If you would like to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold and our pricing you can do so on our website.

Care to share how you managed to get yours emJayO with us?

Definitely get this over the W829. Not for 4K (although that's a nice bonus) but because IIRC it has better blacks than the W829.

The w829 is class and if this one is anywhere near it hot is deserved
heat added

Read a few reviews that say blacks are poor compared to w8 on this, any opinions?

I'm on holiday lol

I want one

You could always try using the EU directive 1999/44/EC.

Problem is you have to go out of your way and expense after 6 months to prove its a manufacturing fault and when purchased under 'as new' I'm not sure where you'd stand

Not full spec on their website - they forgot to say that motion rate is 200hz only... yes, 4K is the most important thing and people are catched by this, ha ,ha. Better to buy proper Full HD panel for around £800 with 5 years warranty than some lowest "as new" 4K TV

I have this telly, and I should say, it scores 5/5 in looks department; bet its dumb as fawk. Its slow. UI is useless, and apps keep forgetting me.

My 2011 samsung "smart" (semi) was faster than this.

I only pray to god that someone leaks out the new (android based) firmware for 2015 models and someone else ports it to this TV. I'd die a happy man.

If you have cash to splurge on, get the tv.

also, I've compared this with w829, and the picture looks ugly on w829.

edit: all sony tvs come with 5 year guarantee.

Tempted by this. Don't really care too much about the smart features as OTT boxes can take care of that and the audio isn't really an issue as I'll be using an AV receiver. So, purely as a 55" 4k screen this looks about the best value out there. Samsung HU7500 would be my other choice but it's still way more expensive.

Sony TV's are great, unfortunately the App Store as not as mature as samsung's. One thing to look out for is the announcement that sony will be releasing TV's with android OS, worth looking at dates and considering the wait as that will change the landscape

The old range of Sonys will be coming down a lot in price soon as the 2015 range are released; featuring Youview built in to them.

I was going to buy this but then read the reviews of the seller... They state, whether rightly or wrongly, that all items are returned to them under your own steam to one of their 6 branches. You then have to collect it from them when repaired. Most of their historical reviews on line are pretty scathing too, monies taken, no goods, ignored calls, false promises.

Me? I would pay more and get better service. Or get a reputable retailer to look at their price as opposed to the refurbished one. Or look at the Sony refurbished store online. I ordered a 50" from them this afternoon with their 10% Valentine discount.

Within 30 minutes I had an email stating thanks for the order and another email from the courier with a next day tracking number.

As for AVForums, well... I've never met such a pious bunch of knobs. Especially their 'moderators'.

Unsurprisingly JL knocked back my price match request.

Do you know if you can get picture and picture with the TV. (2 output on the same tv side by side (split screen))?
