I've had this TV for a while now (paid a lot more ) would recommend it only issue is the sound quite low and doesn't come with glasses definitely worth it at this price
Excellent TV! Whilst android isn't perfect, its fantastic for installing apps and new content. Brilliant picture quality too!
I got mine at £849 from JL a couple weeks ago. thought that was cheap but this is even better. looks like curry's also giving 5yr warranty too.

excellent TV for this price. cant go wrong.
Does the remote really have a 'Netflix' button?

One of the two remotes supplied has a dedicated Netflix button. There is also a fairly intuitive touch pad remote that ships as standard.

I've had this TV for a few weeks now and have to say I'm impressed. To date I've managed to side load Mobdro and Showbox, (although showbox stopped working after the last revision) using ES file explorer. (Installed out of curiousity, not coz I use them)

The TV ships with Kodi installed by default (at least mine did?) and that's pretty okay for streaming my movie library (you can do illegal stuff with it as well, if you need / want to) it has built in Chromecast-like facility and in general picture quality is excellent.

It streams UHD using AmazonTV in mind blowing quality. (Better caul Saul is available in UHD) so watched it all again with dropped jaw!

I would highly recommend this TV at this price, however, I paid £769 for mine from Richer sounds with six year warranty in their recent offer. They knocked a few quid off because I also added an A/V receiver into the mix, so there are deals to be had if you shop around.l

what's the difference between this and the 8309 model ?
Just bought this from richersounds for £899 anyone know if they will give me the £100 back, not even got this yet .

Got a phone call last night and they said it will be here next Tuesday .
I have a panasonic blue ray player from many moons ago with a netflix button on it. Godsend at the time.
I like the sound of this tv, kodi box can be used else where too. Heat.
Will JL or RS price match? Want this tv desperately after missing out on £799 bank holiday deal at RS last time

Phone them and tell them. Say if they can't match the price you'll have to cancel. Well within your rights.
I bought this on Monday for £829 still in the box in my front room, Will give Richer sounds a ring in the morning and hopefully they will price beat as on the website

They should do

I got mine this week but not even had a chance to unbox it yet
Is the Sony warranty as good as a JL or RS warranty?
HDR? Been looking at the KD55XD8599 which is £1,139.98 at Costco next week and has HDR. Does this?

Yes this is HDR
Latest software update will give it HDR compliancy but the brightness value is about 250 nits whereas full-blown HDR is around 1000 nits. HDR Blurays still look awesome on this though with HDR Mode engaged (although you still need to adjust the settings for your room). I personally have the 65" 8509 coupled with a Samsung K8500 4K Bluray player. The TV is superb and although it is a 2015 model it is hopefully getting Marshmallow at some point this year.
Ordered, great deals. Thanks OP

I would give your local Richer sounds a call, If you can get them to match it you will have an extra years warranty and better service imo
dont buy from currys if you claim on that warranty once the remaining warranty is canceled

Do you happen to know if this is an 8 bit panel or a 10 bit panel? I have been trying to find out for a while without any success.

Have you seen anything to say it's not though? I mean, I doubt it is, but I haven't found anything that says it definitely isn't.

Which was the TV you saw for £1200, out of curiosity please?
How's this tv for gaming on either consoles or 4k comparable pcs?

i saw a review saying good but not industry leading. in game mode latency was around 35ms, perfectly playable but Samsung's are better with sub 30ms

This is a 10 bit panel, hence the HDR update. It is not an 8 bit panel.

Although the following review is for the 8505, the specs for the 8509 are only marginally better - both have the 10 bit panel though:
