Is Android still a pig's ear on the Sony TV's or are they actually putting enough CPU/Ram in them to run it properly?
I tried one about a year ago and it was dire

I tried it a few months and while It's slower than it should be, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The panasonic one was slower and the LG we ended up with isn't much faster. It was reportedly the 2015 and early 2016 models that were the troublsome ones.
Excluding curved/non-curved opinions, how does it compare with this?

This is better than we753? I find we753 slight poor on black..no details there..
This is a great deal, I have one I got earlier in the year, amazing Tv. I did have to tweak the setting a little to get the best out of the tv and make it a little more natural. The Wifi is great, you tube and netflix buttons come in very handy. I would recommend at this price. I looked at all models next to each other in Currys before buying, the Sony TV was the clear winner for picture quality. I have an android box, so I have never been bothered with it not having this feature, just uses up memory and storage anyway.
Wow very good price great deal
Recently bought a Sony KD49XE8004 with android. Out of the box, it can slow at times, although if you Google it, there is a few easy tweaks that quicken things up no end. I've not regretted it, as the 4k picture is stunning, and being able to install the latest Kodi straight onto the tv is great
Bought this at £649.99 i think from richer sounds 2-3 months back, but got the 6 yrs warranty i suppose. Great tv, can’t comment as a TV-phile but good enough picture and next to no input lag when playing
£701 now. Expired.

"voucher code does not exist."
Was an absolute no-brainer for me

Keep an eye out on this model, although the price has gone up, I'd expect it to drop again.

I have an extensive range of Sony kit wired up as a home cinema (there's a term which already sounds dated!)

I was becoming increasingly frustrated by the technical limitations of my 11 year old existing KDL46W2000 sony TV, I have been feeding it signals from an HDMI tuner /amp with Sony branded 1080-HDD and blue-ray players, I really didn't need audiophile speakers (alrady got them!) nor android onboard (can "throw" the screen of my Xperia phone and tablets) what I *did* want was 4k capability for iPlayer, Netflix etc.

Picture quality is easily the equal of the old TV, the remotes work fine (indeed after only 12 hours I'm beginning to discover they're better integrated than I could ever have hoped)

What I *have* noticed is a slightly frustrating tendency for the TV to shut the internal speakers off when it "sees" the (10 year old) apmplifier - I'm considering my options there.

If you're looking for a "one stop do everything" TV this probably isn't your first choice, to bring an existing system up to date this is well worth considering.

Just wait until the proce drops again!
